If the show hadn't become too expensive - what with their demands for increased salaries and wanting a highly shortened season, TPTB probably would have gone for it. I can't believe this is just one entity deciding - after months of trying to work out a deal - that they wanted to cancel it. I just don't buy it.

There is, likely, plenty of responsibility to spread around. But, I really don't care anymore because it's done - and for me now, the whys are kinda besides the point.

I hope tonight doesn't end with angst for L/L - even if it is short lived - I'm sick of angst and from what we know about R/L, there's plenty of angst to go around. ..I want the show to end with more than just a few nice visual images in my mind - as hokey as last week's serenade was, I like the image in my head.

I don't read fanfic because I really need to see the expressions, hear the tone of voice, body language - I wish it did do something for me, just doesn't.

I wonder if there is still the old time atmosphere in Hollywood. It used to be that if you got a bad reputation with one studio for being difficult it spread like wildfire and actors didn't work for a while after they got that label. Maybe Lauren is concerned about that? She has to know that the spin makes it seem as though she an AB were trying to hold the studio hostage.

Given what ASP pulled last year - trying to hold them up for a two year contract when she knew the girls were done with their after this year, then badmouthing the studio when she didn't get her way - and yet she still got another new job. It happens all the time.

But, again, Hollywood insiders also know there are many sides to these stories - they are probably not inclined to just lay blame at one person's/entity's feet or believe totally in the spin that is out there in the public. They know how complicated all this stuff is -

I don't know.. but that made my hopes about the CW changing their minds until the upfronts increased, especially with a lot of angry emails they'll certainly receive after the finale, complaining about the fact that the finale wasn't satisfying. It made it seem that the girls were on ... and the CW just thought it wasn't worth it fight for.

I agree Cappu .. she was on .. like I always thought she was ...

See, I'm wondering if it was more that LG and AB thought they could make the CW dance to whatever tune they wanted to get them back (since neither of them really appeared all that invested in coming back in the first place) and were shocked when the network called their bluff.

I'm hoping ('cause I'm still not LG's biggest fan) that the repercussions she's afraid of are about people thinking she's difficult. As I understand it, she's already sort of got that reputation anyway.

Cinefile, straight up, you make me agree with Bella. However, you need to realize that Kim Bledel and Lauren Graham have just pissed off two WORLDWIDE CONGLOMERATES ENTERTAINMENT DIVISIONS. Not one, but two with their shenanigans. If you think that either entity would want to hire them after what they pulled. You obviously have a more sunnier take on the business of show. Nevertheless, they will be made to pay, because recoupment happens in the HOLLYWOOD. ETA: This is all I have to say to Lauren and Kim....HA HA HA! HA HA HA! HA HA HA! HA HA HA!!!

I think the bevy of articles written about how bad the writing had become and how the show should be put out of its misery may have swayed the studio too. Maybe they thought it wasn't worth the gamble to spend all the money to renew the show when there was no guarantee that the ratings would pick up.

Back to speculating....I think that Lorelai probably downplays the karaoke to Babette or one of the other townies. I think Sookie or Rory would call her on it if she tried to pull that with them. I also hope that the misunderstanding is resolved quickly so L&L are on good terms in this next to last episode.

ITA Jason and Cine! The fear of retribution is on her mind. She played chicken and lost.
