Lorelai and Sookie walking on the streets of SH. Lorelai rhyming off things she need to pick up for the party and the graduation and things Sookie should help her to remember Lorelai tells Sookie she can’t believe she got roped in to buying cake to party . Help her to remember wedges instead of heels, beeded clutch purse to the graduation. A lot on her mind with Logan asking her permission to marry Logan and the graduation..

Thins Rory is too young to marry. Tells Sookie Logan asks her out of respect. This it’s bad of him to ask for permission and then make her wait. for Rory to phone.

Tell Soookie on top of everything, there is the Luke thing. She told Sookie something came up when she sang the song. Not sure if it was the drinks or the hat. Going to go the diner to see how she feels. People described the singing to Sookie as she was not there. Lorelai tells Sookie she need to figure out what she wants and asks Sookie to keep people off her back.

Luke visits Liz and is impressed by her setup in her garage with the work she does. Luke is looking for a graduation present for Rory. Liz tells Luke she heard about Lorela’s serenade. Luke tells her it was not. Liz said she heard at Weston. Half the town was talking about it. Luke stays he worked hard trying to get the song out of her head. Told Liz she drank a truck load of alcohol. He told her if it meant something Lorelai would come in to the diner.

Liz tells Luke that Lorelai would like Luke to respond and that Crazy Carries says Loreali gave Luke the “love look”. Luke looks at a necklace and Liz tells him it will match Lorelai’s eyes. He tells her it’s not for Lorelai and that it’s a back up for Rory. Liz says Right!!

Doyle and Paris packing up her books. Doyle and Paris are going backpacking. She wants to do well so she is taking her books. Doyle said he thought there were taking a vacation.

Rory comes in . Tells Paris can’t believe the are graduating and intends to savour every moment of it. Doyle is spackling the apartment. Rory takes picture of Paris and Doyle packing up. Lorelai enters the diner Patty and Babette are at the counter. Babette tells Lorelai Luke is upstairs and she can go right up. Tells them she just came in for coffee. They talk about the night at the bar and her serenade to Luke. Loreali denies it.

Lorelai tells them ishe got swept up in the moment and it didn’t mean anything as Luke comes down the stairs and overhears. He’s hurt and acts cold to her. Loreali seems surprised at his behaviour. Patty and Babe wants to know what time they have to be at the graudation. Luke drops off a to go bag in front of Loreali coldly and Lorelai looks upset.

Rory calls Loarelai. Lorelai thinks she’s calling about the proposal. Asks Rory if she can get more graduation tickets. Rory tells her she can only get four and sks Lorelai if she’s excited about seeing Chris. Lorelai says no. Rory asks her about Luke. She tells Rory he barley looked at her. Rory asks her if she’s ok. Lorelia tells her she didn’t know what she wanted anyway.

Town meeting . Taylor has a broken leg. He slipped in the tub. Paramedics found him in his living room. Kirk wants a permit for a “kirk in a box”, a performance art piece. He will be suspended over the town in a clear Lucite box. Gypsy says if Kirk wants to sit in a box let him sit in a box.

Loreali tells Babette she couldn’t get any tickets to go to graduation. Loreali tells the town at the meeting that she’s sorry and she tried. Taylor has Lorelai under the gun about not getting them tickets to see the graduation.

Loreali tells them she’s having a graduation party at her house in a week and they will get to come. Maybe she can give Rory her certificate again at her house for them to see.

Babette tells her to take a lot of pictures for the reenactment. Taylor wants her to take a notebook to take details for the reenactment

Rory is at the party talking to some Dar members who are happy to see her. Logan comes and pulls her away. He Tells her she looks beautiful. Chris calls Loreali on her cell. He’s waiting outside of the hose. He didn’t want to do it in front of every one. They say hi to each other and they tell each other they look good.

Loreali tells him that Logan asks her permission to marry Rory and that he hasn’t done it yet maybe he’ll back out. Christopher asked her what she said and she told him she told Logan that he could ask her. Lroeali tells Christopher that they will figure out the whole divorce-parenting eventually. They both go inside to the party.

Richard and Emily sings (DC )

Christopher gets a text message from the babysitter asking if Gigi can watch tv. He goes off to respond to it. Logan tells Rory she wants to talk to her. He tells her he doesn’t know a lot but he knows he loves her and wants to be with her forever. Pulls out ring and asks her to marry him. She says um!. Wow, Um, Wow, Wow, Logan wants to know if it’s a yes. Rory says she is surprised and tells him to come talk to her outside. Emily tells the piano guy to play something to distract the guests.

Rory tells Logan she didn’t want to talk to him in front of every one. The horse with carriage is outside. He tells Rory he got the job but wanted to save the new until after he propose to her.

Logan tells her she’ll love Pal Alto. He found a house they could rent not far from San Francisco. Rory tells Logan he’s done a lot of research and he’s had a lot of time to think about it but this is the first time she’s hearing about it. Logan does not want to wait. Reminds her of when they jumped in You Jump Jack, I Jum (??) and they should just do it.

Rory calls Loreali on her cell from outside the house. Emily wants to know if she said yes. Rory and Loreali are in the horse-drawn carriage. She tells Lorelai she couldn’t give him an answer. It was out of the blue. Rory wants to know why Lorelai is so cool. Loreli tells her Logan asked her before. Rory is surprised Lorelai never told her. Asks Loreali what she should do. Lorelia tells her take a few days and let the shock wear off.

Rory tells Lorelai she thinks they are too young, and why the rush. She wants Loreali to tell her what to do. Rory tells Loreali to blink one eye if she thinks she should do it. Lorelai tells Rory she needs to figure it out herself.

Loerali suggests that they ride around town in the carriage and do the queen’s wave. Rory agrees. Kirk in a box suspended above town at night. Lorelai is out in walking late at night. Luke come out to put out the garbage and they see each other.

Luke asks her what’s she doing out so late. Lorelai tells him she need to clear her head and see if Kirk was still in the box. Luke tells Lorelai he has decided to ignore Kirk in the box as it only encourages his asinine behavour.

Luke asks her what she is clearing her head about. She tells him of Logan’s proposal.. Luke is surprised and tells Lorelai she would need a walk for that. He asks her what Rory said and Lorelai tells her Rory said she needed time to think mull it over. Luke tells Lorelai that that was a good answer. He asks her if Rory asked her for advice and she told him she told Rory it was her decision.

He asks her if she was leaning towards No and she tells him no she was not leaning, she was kind of upright. Luke tells her he could understand if she was leaning away from Yes in a very distant and cold manner. Loreali asks him why and he tells her that Rory is really young and that it’s the most important decision of “your” (“her”) life.

Lorelai tells him that they love each other and he’s great and that maybe they got it together young as some people do. Luke says “Right and others need time. Loreali responds “Sure, or they’re never ready". Luke says “I would never say never, they want to be a little more careful , thery’re a little slower, you know, just to make sure it’s RIGHT. Loreali responds, “well you can’t always be 100% sure it right. Sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith. Luke responds, you got to know what you’re leaping into. Lorelai responds, “after all this time, how could you not know? Luke: How could who not know? Lorelai: Rory, Luke: Right, Loreali: Right, Luke: Rory as he nods his head

Lorelai tells Luke that was her walk and she’s heading home. He stops her to go in to get the present for Rory.

Luke goes in to the diner and to get the gift for Rory. Inside the dawer behind the counter are two boxes a small box and another long box (obviously containing the necklace). He picks up the smaller box, looks at the necklace box then closes the drawer he looks at it closes the door. Luke gives her the gift and tells her it’s for Rory. Loreali accepts it and tells him it was nice and thoughtful that he got Rory the gift.

La, las, las, with guitar playing in the background as Rory is spackling the apartment. She gets bowl of cereal to eat. She takes ring out of box and puts it on her finger. She smiles as she looks at her hand.

Lorelai, Emily and Richard waking at Yale they are talking about the speaker. Emily thinks he’s a dull speaker. Logan will be sitting with his friend.

Emily wants to know what Rory is thinking. Lorelai tells her she doesn’t know. Lorelai forgets that she needs lots of programs for Babette. Richard tells her he can use his contact to get more.

Lucy, Rory, Paris and Olivia , are drinking champagne from a bottle as. Lucy asks about the cocktail party at Emily. Rory tells them that her grandparents sang her a song and she was embaressed. They go off together to the graduation ceremony.

Emily wants to know if Rory tried on the right. She wants to know what Lorelai told Rory her to do. Loreali tells her she wants her to make her own decision. Emily bitches about the seat. Loreali drove Emily and Richard to graduation. Christopher meets them there and sits with them.

Paris asks Rory if she knows what she’s going to say when she’s handed the diploma. Rory says she’s going to smile politely and say thank you. Paris hugs Rory, tells her she’s going to do great things with her life. Paris says Unto the beach as they head up to begin accepting their diploma. Logan is standing with friend beneath a tree. Rory sees him in the distance. Logan waves to her

Graduation begins. Loreali asks Christopher if he’s ready to be parents of a Yale graduates. Emily is still complaining about the seats. Emily tells Loreali she has pull and to use it with Rory. That’s what parenting is and that Rory looks up to her. Lorelai tells her that’s not how she parents.

Loreali wants to take a picture. Richard takes the camera from her and tells her to enjoy the day it’s just as much her graduation as it is Rory’s. Lorelai stands up and claps with tears in her eyes as Rory graduates.

Christopher takes photos of Rory, Emily and Richard. Richard takes a photo of Loreali, Rory and Christopher. Rory spies Logan in the distance. She tells the family she’ll be right back and goes to meet Logan. He congratulates her. Rory tells Logan she’s sorry, she can’t and that she loves him. She loves the idea of being married to him but there are lots of things that are undecided in her life that use to scare her but nevertheless likes the idea that they are wide open.

She tells him they could try long distance relationship. They tried it before. Logan wants to know if that what she wants. Logan is not happy with the long distance thing.

Rory asks him if it has to be all or nothing. Logan says yes. Rory says they could at least try it. Logan says what’s the point. Rory says “So”. Logan says “So”. Rory gives him back the ring. He looks at it in her hand, sighs as he sadly takes it back from her. He tells her goobye and walks away.

Back at the apartment, Lorelai is helping Rory to move the last of her stuff. She asks Rory how she is doing. Rory says she feels awful and sick. She misses Logan. She tells Lorelai that it should be a happy day and now when she looks back she’ll think of this horrible day.

Loreai tells her she made the right decision. And some day when she looks back she’s see it was right.

They move the last of the boxes out. Rory comes back in briefly looks at the empty apartment, turns off the light and close the door.

End

Something came up??? Now I'm supposed to believe Lorelai is surprised she has these feelings for Luke - oh come on - how dumb are we supposed to be? Apparently, really dumb. These writers are clueless about L/L - clueless. And, didn't Lorelai even consider Luke for just one second and how he might have taken the song - it's not like it wasn't obvious she was singing directly to him -

Maybe it's more surprise that her feelings still run so deep. I can imagine that, with her thinking he doesn't/never did love her that she's trying to keep it the friendship they always had. I think it's more of a surprise to her that she can't be just friends with him, that even though she knows she still loves him, it surprises her that she can't get around that or ignore it. Which still sounds kind of stupid, but that's the best I can think to describe it. Make any sense?
