Thanks for the new thread.

I'm wondering how THE KISS comes about. Maybe Lorelai has another moment of realization like she did just before the proposal? I hope the new understanding is more than just the kiss. I can see that being part of the footage they could edit in just in case--if it was a season finale we'd get a kiss and wait until S8 to really see what it meant, but we'd get an extra couple of minutes of discussion if it was the series finale. Probably wishful thinking, but who knows.

The last 2 years I stayed away from FF when the detailed spoilers about the finale (the scene by scene replays from people who'd seen the screeners) came out. This year I feel the need to be prepared, to not go into the finale expecting more than we're going to get. I want to get over my disappointment ahead of time and hopefully be able to enjoy the last GG ever.

Craig, ITA that things are always changing and never fully fixed. But they could have reached a natural ending point, finished/resolved the stories they started and left us to imagine the next stages of these characters lives, with some sense of satisfaction about the part we shared with them.

Instead – take April. They brought her in as a roadblock, to waste time – then they denied us the resolution, we never saw her and Lorelai build a relationship, or LL start to parent together.

We saw Luke learn to be a father, which was bittersweet because there was always that huge hole of if/how Lorelai fit in. We saw Lorelai learn not to be in love with Christopher; a freaking waste of time, unless you believe the retcon that she was secretly in love with him while Luke was “the only man she ever really loved”. And I don’t buy that.

We needed to see how their journeys came together and we’ll never see them get together, overcome any obstacles together, or blend a family, which makes it feel unreal – and I didn’t watch to just be told that they end up together, I watched to experience it.

We still don't know to whom Lorelai's saying that the song meant nothing right?

Maybe Lorelai comes into the diner someone (Zach, or Patty) askes her about the song, and she answers that it meant nothing and Luke overhears it.

Is there a chance in h*** that they actually did extra shootings to edit into the final that isn't in the script MA and others have read and they have managed to keep it a secret??
Or is this me grasping at straws yet again?

You're not the only one. What I remember from last year, the Palladinos delivered the final canned 622 to the studio, then came the announcement they were leaving, about two weeks before it aired.

Sounds like deju vu, that this finale was in the can first.

Better late than never. The news just hit a gossip page overhere (Denmark). Might have been on other danish sites also, but this is the first I've seen and totally unexpected. That's what happens when you have RSS come up with latest news once an hour. Makes me even sadder to read about it in my native language.
...and those poor unspoiled countrymen that have yet to see what happens and is now in the middle of watching L/C married. Uhhwee... But then again. It might be better. At least they are prepared earlier on and I have a feeling that'll help.

I hope someone get a hold of a copy of the finale and post pbp here so I can read it. I'm disappionted enough with the later half of S6 and the first half of S7.

I just. can.not deal with the shows last ever episode of very little hope of using my imagination of my own end. At I can really prepare myself before my eyes burn the image in my brain. I mean it's not like we will ever get a Gilmore Girl movie of the week in the near future with a glimpse of these people future.

Although i know it's very unlikely, i'm still hoping GG pulls a "7th heaven" in the upfronts. I'm telling myself not to believe it, and not to get my hopes up. But I can't help it. It was like this all this time with s8... i always believed we were getting a new season, although i kept telling myself not to. Bah ...
I just hope we get some conversation between LL, and not just the kiss, which I think we will. But maybe that's just me being naive again ...

A big PR hoax to see how everyone reacts - sounds a bit crazy but hey I already said to a friend if they pull a 7th heaven on the show I'm going to kiss several feet where I live and believe me there are A LOT of feet walking around here.

Only problem with GG vs. 7th heaven is the number of actors needed to make it any good. But here's to hope and prayer.

And by the way, thank you for your optimism throughout this whole time. Although we're not getting a s8, your posts were very uplifting and at least made me enjoy the episodes. If I hadn't believed in a s8, I probably would have stopped watching, and therefore, losing all the wonderful scenes we got to see with LL in last episodes. So thank you, and all the other posters who kept me sane this all time.

I know I’m a bit behind with this. I wanted to respond to the discussion about the selfishness of Lorelai. Because it took a while for me to formulate this in english it doesn’t really fit anymore to what was written in the previous posts…

My opinion about this topic is, that during Lorelais whole youth, years and years, was her only concern the well-being of her daugther. She made an extreemly good job to raise her, worked hard at the inn, took care that her lovelife didn’t offend Rory. Without her energy, the dream of hers and Sookies of an own inn would never had come true.

And for Luke: She was with him at the burial of his uncle. She bought his boat, because she thought that he would regret a decision that he made when he was in emotional turmoil. Like she could depend on him, he could do the other way round.

But besides all this, she certainly has needs like every other human being too. She longed for the „whole package“. And then she fell in love for the first time in her life. And it looked as if she would finally get it.

Then the april thing started. Certainly, Lorelai should have talked about her feelings with Luke, but she thought, that this (trying to understand, that he didn’t tell his fiancee about his daughter, postpone the wedding, accepting to not meet April (!)…) was the right way to support him. But than she paniced, when she thought, that he wasn’t „all in“ any more.

When she lost the love of her life, she thougt, Chris was her last possibility to get the whole package. I would’t say, that she „used“ him. I think, that she really wanted to make it work. And she sort of loved Chris since her childhood. But had to realize, that this kind of love wasn’t enough for a marriage (not in our society)

I don’t think, that’s selfish. It’s human.

And something like that does apply for Lauren Graham, too. She is forty now. That’s an age for an actress and also for a woman, where you have to consider what you really want in life and where you – in some points – have the last chance to start things…

I agree su_in_summer. Yes, Lorelai is selfish in someway, and she admits it. But I most of all think she selfish in those little things, like doing what she likes, etc., but when it comes to help others, she's always there. It happened with Luke, with Rory, with Sookie, and even with Emily.

Now I hit the stage where I'm totally pissed at myself. Is that a stage I should enter ? Second time I got my hopes up and trusted them, believed they would give us the LL ending all those special moments between them led up to throughout the show.
First we got screwed over by the Evils A + D and now the network got us once again.
