Episode 7.20: Lorelai? Lorelai?

The CW: LORELAI ROCKS A KARAOKE BAR ? With graduation looming, Rory (Alexis Bledel)is anxiety-ridden over her future, so Lorelai (Lauren Graham) tries to cheer her up with a day of eating and shopping. Lorelai notices happily that Luke (Scott Patterson) is once again wearing the baseball cap she gave him, and invites him to join her and Rory for karaoke night at a local bar. After a few drinks, Lorelai takes the stage to sing a heartfelt number which is obviously directed at Luke. Logan returns from a business trip to California and comes to see Lorelai to discuss his future with Rory. Melissa McCarthy, Keiko Agena, Liza Weil, Sean Gunn, Kelly Bishop and Edward Herrmann also star. Bethany Rooney directed the episode written by David S. Rosenthal.

TV Guide: When Rory stresses out over life after graduation, Lorelai takes her out for a day of shopping and eating. Then Lorelai invites Luke to join them in the evening for karaoke night at a bar, where she sings a song intended for Luke to hear. Later, Logan returns from a business trip and visits Lorelai to talk about his future with Rory.

The CW: LOGAN PROPOSES ON THE DAY RORY GRADUATES FROM YALE ? On the eve of Rory’s (Alexis Bledel) graduation, Emily (Kelly Bishop) and Richard (Edward Herrmann) throw her a party and perform a song in her honor. At the party, Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Christopher (David Sutcliffe) are reunited for the first time since their separation, and both are relieved to find they can still be friends. Logan (Matt Czuchry) surprises everyone at the party by proposing to Rory, but she is too shocked to give him an answer and begs Lorelai to help her decide what to do. On graduation day, Rory and Paris (Liza Weil) receive their diplomas, and Rory finally gives Logan her answer. Meanwhile, Lorelai is embarrassed about her karaoke serenade to Luke (Scott Patterson) the night before, and Luke is hurt when he overhears her saying it didn’t mean anything. Melissa McCarthy and Sean Gunn also star. Lee Shallat Chemel directed the episode written by David Babcock & Jennie Snyder

The CW: STARS HOLLOW THROWS RORY A GRADUATION PARTY / CNN JOURNALIST CHRISTIANE AMANPOUR MAKES A GUEST APPEARANCE — Just as Rory (Alexis Bledel) lands her dream job as a political reporter, Luke (Scott Patterson) enlists the help of everyone in Stars Hollow to throw her a graduation party. Emily (Kelly Bishop) and Richard (Edward Herrmann) attend the huge party, where Rory makes a speech thanking Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and the whole town for giving her such a great start in life. Luke’s thoughtfulness brings out an unexpected reaction from Lorelai (Lauren Graham). Finally, on the morning that Rory leaves Stars Hollow to start her career, Luke opens the diner before dawn to share a celebratory breakfast with the Gilmore girls. CNN journalist Christiane Amanpour makes a cameo appearance as a guest at the Dragonfly Inn. Melissa McCarthy, Keiko Agena, Yanic Truesdale and Sean Gunn also star.

We're we told at one point that we'd know when the divorce was finalized? I'm pretty sure I remember reading something to that effect.

I also don't think LL will get together before her divorce is final. I mean, look how hard Luke took the whole SockMan debacle. He'd never get involved with Lorelai until her divorce is signed, simply because he's too honourable to do something like that, no matter how little he thinks of Christopher.

When they do get them back together, I really hope they don't rush it, I think that would be more disappointing than them not getting together at all. Bantering like friends is one thing, and having an intimate relationship after all that's happened to them is another. They have issues they need to work through or they're not gonna last.

I think they could be together in a way, like after the kiss and working towards figuring things out. But I agree that I can't see Luke ever being okay with sleeping with Lorelai, etc, until her divorce with Chris is final.

I do hope they take their time. Maybe that can be part of their understanding. Taking it slow for a few months, (through the summer, at least), would be perfect to make sure that they're totally ready when they do go faster, and that they'll last for good. They'll still have so many things to discuss and figure out after 7.22 and they should focus on those things first, IMO.

I have a thought. What if in 8.01(after the kiss), L/L decide not to get serious until the divorce is final.? But they still begin dating and resolving some of their other issues?

As long as the divorce is final in like 8.02. (I still can't believe I'm speculating about season 8, I've been trying to wait until official confirmation before I totally get my hopes up).

One thing I know that I don't want to see is them running to sleep with eachother the moment it's final.

I don't know. I'm having a lot of trouble picturing either of them refusing to be in a relationship until the divorce is final. Once they've decided that they want to be together, I don't see them waiting. I think they should, but I don't think they will.

I said a long time ago the L&L would not stay friends too long, at the time it was spec but looking at what happens between last week and the final I guess it happens that way.

as for taking things slow I don't see that happening, we have 13 eps so IMO they will date for a while, Luke will move in with Lorelai (but not before the divorce is final) and then about mid season (ep 5-6-7) there will be a proposal, followed by the wedding before ep 13. If they decided to do the back 9 then that time can be then married and maybe at the end we'll here the "You're going to be a daddy" we have all been waiting for.
