I'm going to have to agree here also.

Come on all, rain? Rebirth? I'm sure there was something more significant about rain that they tried to teach us in high school lit class... Either that, or this is going to be one of a bunch of obstacles for Lorelai to hop through to throw this party, and then Rory's not going to show up.

lol, rain also signifies the wrath of God. Perhaps they'll start building the Ark.

*casts mind back, lo those many years*
Rain/storms in Shakespeare generally meant something bad was about to happen.

Then again, there was "The quality of mercy is not strained, it dropeth as a gentle rain from heaven, upon the place beneath." Dude. That just popped into my brain, along with a flash of my 9th grade English teacher. Ms. Bell would be shocked to know anything stuck in my head, I think. Heh.

It's rained at Yale before too, right? I know tv production blah blah blah, but I've often thought about how rarely it rains in CT on this show. On another New England topic, I agree with whoever said "Bon Voyage" sounds like Rory's going farther away than Providence or NYC. Or maybe they just forgot where Providence is.

lol, this could also turn into another "Whose car is it that Emily sees?" thing. Anyone else remember that? We all wondered what Emily saw in the window or where Richard was going and we never found out, lol.

ETA: Ooh, ooh.. or the debate about why Lorelai had a half eaten cheesecake in front of her at the end of TPO, ha. We all thought it meant something bad..

I thought Richard was going to his barbershop quartet practice. I wonder whatever happened to that? HEY! Maybe they could be the entertainment at the party. I bet Taylor would approve.

A barber shop quartet and a disco ball. Why not!

I think Lorelai tells Luke they're going to have to cancel the party because of the rain, but then the whole town comes together with the crazy idea of covering the gazebo and its surrounding area with that colorful tarp, so they can have the farewell party for their beloved Rory. It's not going to rain on Rory's parade after all, but she'll cry if she wants to.

I'm wondering if the tarp is actually just so the disco ball(s) and any lights they might be using shine better and look funky and fun and colorful. Since the tarp is so colorful, the disco ball would look really cool on it. Maybe it just happens to keep them out of the rain too.

Wasn't that disco ball in Lorelai's "own special alone space" garage?

Luke's diner is finally on Kirk's tour.

ETA - Disappointing. Too short and not enough Lorelai.

Hi Mots!. It has been a while, mostly because I don't post much anymore, lol.

I'm betting the tarp will be insignificant come episode time. Probably won't even be mentioned. I'm guessing it's just being used for colour so when the lights reflect off the disco ball there's a lot of it. Yep, that's my guess.

No, I am sorry but My Friend isn't in the position to know more than the writers saw Lorelai and Christopher finally exploring a real adult relationship as a wonderful dramatic story. To them, the marriage between Lore and Dopey was inevitable and necessary because of where ASP ended season 6. They never considered any other course for the story because to them it was the only option.
