Some observations from tonight’s episode:

Since when did Lorelai and April become so friendly with each other that they hug while Luke and Lorelai still appear awkward with each other? Did April and Lorelai bond and become friendly when Luke was not present? As April has always been with Luke the few times that they ran into Lorelai, it seemed odd to me that Lorelai would be so affectionate with April when she’s still at odds with Luke.

Rory’s bedroom seemed pretty much back to the way it was before Gigi moved in. It’s almost as if Gigi never occupied it. Her Yale memorabilia are posted on the wall and on the mirror of the dresser. The only evidence that Gigi once stayed in the room is the trundle bed and possibly the new head board.

BTW, didn’t you think Rory’s bed just big enough for both her and Logan to sleep in together? After all, she and Lorelai slept in it together. Lorelai seemed a bit awkward when she was pointing out the sleeping arrangements with the two beds. For that matter, they all seemed a bit uncomfortable discussing the sleeping arrangements.

The flat screen TV was quite visible in the living room and it looked like the old TV found a new home in Rory’s bedroom

This was the first time (since their pact years ago not to bring guys home) that Rory actually brought a guy home with her to sleep under the same roof as her mother. That’s pretty significant and could explain Lorelai’s, “So, you’re bringing a guy home” statement to Rory along with the goofy look on her face. This in itself is probably what finally triggers Lorelai into realizing the seriousness of RL’s relationship.

It still can be as Nicolalala has stated above it's the last scene of the episode unless DSR decides to do an ASP and change the editing of the episode like last year's finale. The beauty about a scenario like this is it can be a season finale or series finale. So if it is season finale then it's the step towards the future and the same kind of scene can still occur a year later (Rory coming back after spending time on the campaign trail anyone?).

Rory has one last meal at the diner, and the final scene of the S7 finale mirrors the final scene of the pilot.

I think Lorelai doesn't want to appear unfriendly to april - and since april clearly remembers her birthday and lorelai putting it together she just genrally like her a lot.

But when they ran into each other at the mall shopping for Christmas presents, they did not hug. In fact they were all very formal and standoffish. Something must have changed that, but when would that have happened?
