IMO Luke could have the upper hand when they hook up, Lorelai will have no hand [insert Seinfeld joke here] so she'll need both of Luke's

But is it healthy for one person to control a relationship or will Luke's hand not be as strong, with how he acted last season?

I may be in the minority, I don't know. But I do think Lorelai is a strong person. Strong willed. Determined.

BUT, she's not strong in love. Because she's hasn't the experience truly. Things with Chris were highschool and because how serious things got with them - a baby. Suddenly making them adults before their time. Lorelai had to grow up. Quickly. Making decisions, right or wrong.

I can't remember, if she was involved with anyone before we met her and Rory in Season 1. Or whether she was a single mother, single woman striving to raise her daughter, and work to make a life them. And was celibate!

Because of how quickly she grew up. For Rory's sake. I think she's immature in love. And she still hasn't gotten the full grip on it. Which is why she got herself involved with Chris, got married and have it blow up within months.

She's able to live her life. But she's unable to deal with her romantic life. And she is still coming to grips with it.

Now I don't think Luke is innocent in last years escapades. As much as Lorelai was wrong with what she did with Chris. And the fact before hand, she let it get so deep that there was only one way to deal with it. An explosion in that final talk with Luke. She let it build up. Didn't try as much as she could.

But Luke didn't either. Now, I understand his life was dealt a blow with the discovery of April. Sudden parenthood. A teenage daughter thrown into his life, and his inability to deal. But he left Lorelai out of it. They were planning to get married. Which made Lorelai April's step-mother to be. She had a right to know what was going on, to have some semblance of input. Sure April has a mother. And step-parenting is a tricky business. (My mother is still dealing with my step-father's daughter from a previous marriage - it's not easy). But Lorelai deserved to be in it with Luke. For him to let her in.

So as much as Lorelai was stupid for acting out with Chris. Luke erred as much in not letting Lorelai in.

So both Luke and Lorelai was equal in causing their relationship to blow up.

So at the end of the day, Lorelai may be romantically immature and still has a lot to learn. But elsewhere, she's strong.

She has achieved so much, given how she started. She just needs to get her love life in shape. So she and Luke may be making stumbling movements to reconciling, but it's not going to be all easy. But at least it's getting there.

It was never mad clear if Lorelai had any lasting boyfriends between Chris at 16 and Max at 32. We do know she keep them out of the home so I'd say something had to happen over those 15-16 years.

Just a pity she didn't go into the diner until 10 years ago!

IMO the reason for the events of the last year come down to Lorelai feeling inadequate with Luke and her on going inability to talk to some of those important in her life. She didn't want to say the wrong thing leading to Luke choosing April over her so she kept quite.

I agree Luke is also to blame but I guess each of us have our own feelings as to the degree that is.

I can see what you are saying. People have realizations all the time about the people they love. Maybe realization is the wrong word, but for lack of a better one, that's what I'm using. I'm thinking it's maybe it's more of an "aww" moment. Like, "I can't believe you did this and I love you so much for this." She knows he's wonderful and that he always did sweet things for her and Rory, but this is a very big thing and it's gonna make her swoon a little bit more. I know I am.

When she was with Max she indicated that she dated and that she had been intimate with other men, just that she never brought them into Rory's orbit so to speak.

Lorelai made reference to dating different boys in highschool and since she was only 15 when she got pregnant it is unlikely that she even knew what love was. She admitted to Rory in season 1 that she had committment issues which could be because she was focussing on Rory.
She had problems with her parents in that she never felt like she was good enough which could mean she didn't feel loved enough and maybe she never allowed herself to go 'all in' for self preservation.

We know she loves Luke, we just need her to show it once and for all and of couse to tell him and make it believable.
