Since this is a "special" RL ep - here's the actual PBP rather than a recap at the end... enjoy (as much as you can).

Teaser:
Lorelai and Sookie are walking down the street talking about the party for Rory that Emily and Richard are having and about Rory’s graduation. Lorelai is bringing champagne and ice to the graduation because of the proposal. Lorelai says that Logan asked her out of respect but really it was rhetorical since no one has ever said no. She thinks that Rory’s too young to get married. Everytime the phone rings she thinks that it’s Rory calling but it’s only her mother about boring details. Lorelai talks about singing to Luke and Sookie is excited since she’s been waiting for her to bring up the topic. The whole town has been waiting to see what happens between Lorelai and Luke. They pay for Rory’s cake at Weston’s. Lorelai is planning to go to Luke’s later.


02:
Luke walks into Liz’s place and is impressed with everything they’ve done. Luke’s there to get Rory a graduation gift and thought earrings might be a nice thing. Liz asks him about Lorelai’s serenade and she wants to hear more. Liz helps Luke pick out a pair of earrings. She asks Luke what he’s done and he says nothing but he can’t get the song out of his head. Liz says that Lorelai will always love Luke and that she’s waiting for him to make a move. He sees a necklace and Liz comments that it will complement Lorelai’s eyes. Luke says that he’s buying the necklace as a backup for Rory. Liz says “sure…”

Paris is selling her old texts while Doyle is patching the nail holes in the wall at their apartment. Paris and Doyle are going backpacking and she reminds him to pack pain medication for headaches. Doyle says that he loves her. Rory walks in saying “Happy Last Day.” She went to a theatre party with Lucy and Olivia and spent the night there. Rory can’t wrap her head around the fact that it’s their last few days. She’s being sentimental by taking pictures of Paris and Doyle.

Lorelai walks into Luke’s. Patty and Babette say “suuuure” that she’s there just for coffee; they saw her singing. Lorelai says that it didn’t mean anything. Luke overheards and looks surprised. Lorelai tries to talk to Luke but he’s abrupt with her. Patty and Babette ask her what time they need to be at Yale. Morey even MapQuested it. Lorelai didn’t know that so many people wanted to come.

Lorelai’s cell rings and she sees it’s Rory and runs outside. Rory says “You wouldn’t believe this,” and Lorelai takes a deep breath and then listens. Rory is excited about the speaker at the graduation. Lorelai asks Rory about extra tickets but Rory says she can only get 4 (Logan is using a ticket from one of his friends). She says that Logan and her have a romantic afternoon planned; spackling.


03:
At the town meeting, Taylor has a broken leg and he’s in a wheelchair. He thanks for everyone’s concerns, but Babette said that she didn’t know what happened. He tripped in the bathroom. Kirk wants permission to do his art piece of “Kirk in a Box” in the town square. It’s him in a clear box suspended in the air with no food or water. Everyone votes in favour to attract tourists. Babette asks if there are extra parking spots and Lorelai says that she forget to tell her that there aren’t any extra tickets. Everyone sounds upset. Taylor adds it to the agenda. Lorelai doesn’t want to but Taylor says that Lorelai dropped the ball because she should have booked extra. She says that they’ll get to celebrate at the party Lorelai is having in one week. She’ll even give Rory her diploma again. Taylor is getting the Stars Hollow band to play Pomp & Circumstance. They all get excited when Taylor talks about having it in the Town Square.

At the party at Emily and Richard’s, Rory is talking to a few people when Logan rescues here. They kiss and Lorelai sees them. She’s talking to a few people when her phone rings and it’s Christopher. Lorelai goes outside to meet him. He didn’t want this first moment to be in front of all of them. They ask how each other are. Lorelai mentions that Logan asked for her permission and she said that he can. Chris is shocked and says that Rory’s too young. They talk about working out being divorced parents and all. They walk inside.

Chris greets Rory and Logan. Emily and Richard calls everyone’s attention to give a speech to Rory. They break out in song – it’s cute and pretty amazing. Rory starts tearing up and kisses them both when they’re done. They are so proud of Rory. Rory thanks them and tells everyone that she couldn’t have done it without them. They all toast Rory. Logan takes a drink and as Chris goes to call the nanny, Logan asks him to stay. Both Lorelai and Chris looked shocked. Logan gives Rory a really sweet about her speech and then says that he’s nervous. He says that he loves her and wants to be with her forever. Rory sees the box and looks shocked and nervous. Logan asks her to marry him and everyone looks amazed and starts murmuring. Rory keeps saying Wow. Logan asks if there’s a yes between those wows and then looks confused. Rory asks him to talk to her outside. Emily asks the pianist to play something now. Emily, Richard and Lorelai all look concerned.


04:
Rory says that she’s sorry but she didn’t want to talk infront of everyone. Rory sees the horse and carriage. Logan says that he got the job in Sillicon Valley but he wanted to wait to tell her when he proposes. He tells her how much he wants her there in Pal Alto with him. Rory says that he’s done a lot of research and has been thinking of this for a long time. She says that he’s had time to think about it but she’s hearing it for the first time. He asks her if she’s never thought of marrying him. She says yes, but it was always hypothetical. Logan’s even found a cute house for them to rent out there. He asks if Rory remembers when they were in the LDB event when they jumped and he wants her to jump with him again. Take a leap of faith. Rory smiles.

Emily is not sure what to do inside – why couldn’t Rory say yes. Lorelai says maybe she’s doesn’t want to marrying him. Emily says that’s ridiculous. Lorelai’s phone rings and Lorelai goes outside. Lorelai and Rory are in the carriage and Rory is ranting to her. She asks why she doens’t look surprised and says that she replies that she’s known. Rory asks her what to do. Rorys says she love shim but she’s too young so what’s the rush. Rory keeps pressuring Lorelai for her opinion and she’s not giving it. Lorelai tells her to think about it for a few days.

Lorelai is walking through town and sees Kirk in his box.

Luke comes out of the Diner to throw the garbage out and sees Lorelai. She’s out to clear her head – Logan proposed to Rory and Rory says that she needs time to mull it over. Luke and Lorelai both think it’s a good idea. He asks if Rory asked her opinion and then asks if Lorelai is leaning towards “no” but she says that she’s actually straight up. They talk about leaping into faith and Luke asks who could not know after all this time and Lorelai says Rory. Luke runs inside to get Rory’s gift and hesitates over getting Lorelai’s, too. But, he ends up giving Lorelai just Rory’s gift. They say goodnight and walk off. Kirk goes to sleep in his box.

Rory is patching holes at the apartment and is looking for cereal to eat. She sits down among the cleaned out apartment and her boxes and looks around thinking. She looks at the ring and ties it on and looks at it. She smiles while looking at it.


05:
Emily, Richard and Lorelai are walking through Yale chatting about the speaker. Emily is upset since Logan is not sitting with them for the commencement and that the only person who “knows” is Rory. She asks if Lorelai even knows but she doesn’t. Lorelai remembers that she needs to get as many programs as possible for the re-enactment.

Rory and Paris are with Lucy and Olivia. Lucy and Olivia are drinking champagne. They’re complaining that Rory didn’t come to the party the night before after Rory’s own party. Rory talks about it but doesn’t mention the proposal. They go off towards the ceremonies screaming Huzzah and with their arms around each other.

Emily is still freaking out over now knowing about the proposal. They have a discussion on the seats. Christopher shows up and asks about Rory’s response. None yet.

Paris asks Rory if she should say “thank you” or “thank you so much” when she gets her diploma. Rory is just smiling. Paris says that she doesn’t know when they’ll see each other next. They hug. Rory sees Logan with his friends. He waves to her and she looks a bit taken aback.


06:
Emily mentions that the NYT says that people are getting married earlier these days. Emily is upset about her seat. Lorelai claps for Paris. Emily tells Lorelai to use pull with Rory. Richard tells Lorelai to stop and enjoy this moment. Lorelai starts crying as Rory is called up. Lorelai and Chris stand up and clap. Rory looks at them and smiles.

They are all taking pictures in different combinations. Rory sees Logan and goes over to him. Logan congratulates her. Logan talks about his graduation. He’s nervous. Rory says that she’s sorry but she can’t. She loves him and the idea of being married to him, but there are a lot of things in her life that are undecided. It used to scare her but now she likes the idea of it being wide open. Logan asks her what now. Rory is willing to try long distance but Logan doesn’t want to go backwards. Rory asks if it has to be all or nothing. He says yes. She says that they can try. Logan asks “What’s the point?” Rory gives back his ring. Logan looks like he’s going to cry. He hesitates, takes it back, whispers, “Goodbye Rory” and walks away.

Rory and Lorelai are moving the boxes and Lorelai’s tired. She asks how Rory’s doing. She’s doing ok – but not ok. She feels sick. She graduated today and it’s supposed to be happy. She’s going to look back and only remember this horrible day. Lorelai says that she thinks she made the best decision. She will someday meet someone and she will just know and not hesitate.

As Rory leaves the apartment, she goes back in to look, shuts off the light and leaves.

Really?!? Loreali can still be snide when Logan did something out of respect for her feelings and the bond that Rory/Lorelai have. Whatever!
