Hearty, Ron is a fella that knows things. He stated back in March, that the show had been picked up for a season eight. So, I am still going with him being right, and a season eight being a forgone conclusion for a couple of months. All they have been doing is haggling about the price.

Again, this is the only way that you can make this RL seperation work. You have to have a season eight in order to have a pay-off for this couple. Due in large part to the time Rory and Logan were together. You cannot have Rory hook-up with a new guy without her looking really bad. She's not Lorelai and does not have her mother's baggage.

She has her own baggage. Which I think Rosie feels to be her indecisiveness. She's not grown up yet. So he could feel that she's been playing house with Logan for a year, and now it's time for her to put up or shut up. She shut's up, but there is no way she dumps Logan. It simply cannot work this way. If they indeed have a future in season eight.

This leaves us going through another year of shenanigans that we should not have to go through but this guy is a ****ing JJ. Apparently he feels -- being a JJ -- that we should suffer through this bull**** as well. Yippee. May we ideal our bull**** a bit better this final season.

STARS HOLLOW THROWS RORY A GRADUATION PARTY / CNN JOURNALIST CHRISTIANE AMANPOUR MAKES A GUEST APPEARANCE
"Bon Voyage"
Just as Rory lands her dream job as a political reporter, Luke enlists the help of everyone in Stars Hollow to throw her a graduation party. Emily and Richard attend the huge party, where Rory makes a speech thanking Lorelai and the whole town for giving her such a great start in life. Luke's thoughtfulness brings out an unexpected reaction from Lorelai.

Finally, on the morning that Rory leaves Stars Hollow to start her career, Luke opens the diner before dawn to share a celebratory breakfast with the Gilmore girls. CNN journalist Christiane Amanpour makes a cameo appearance as a guest at the Dragonfly Inn.

I guess her career struggles and disappointments are short-lived (1 episode short!)...and Rory Gilmore lands her dream job after that teeny Reston setback! I feel bitter. Why am I feeling bitter? I even like Rory, most of the time...

Of course it doesn't make sense for her to mention Logan at all when he's not even there. But I wonder whether she thinks of him at all in that last episode.

This sounds like a series ending, to me. (Deja vu--was this not the plan as well before Rory was to leave for Yale?)

(And Logan is just a blip in the stellar history of Rory Gilmore. They could end it, right here, and we'll never hear of him again.)

This episode description doesn't sound like DR wrote 7.22 as just season finale.

The show probably will come back. MC may or may not be in it. But Logan out of the picture is not a cliffhanger, but how DR wanted to end the show.

And people still say that ASP left the show with a big **** you to part of the fans. Thanks a lot, DR.

The episode description makes me think this too, Andrea. But episode descriptions are also notoriously incomplete. Any indication that all is not lost in 7.21/7.22, and MC signed up as a regular in S8, is what I'm still hoping for.

Hold on here. We have the pics of Rory in her pajamas. So it's possible that Rory is torn up about Logan walking away or whatever he does. As I slept earlier. I had a trippy ****ing thought. Maybe Logan mentions the rocket before he walks away, and says something like; "You know that rocket? Hold on to it. I will come back for it some day." I dont think it's over. It's not because I have found some new optimism lately. It's a simple fact that we have a ****ing season eight coming. It's not over yet. We need to readust our assumptions or expectations. There is one more year. Matt, Scott, and Melissa all had projects they either walked away from or put themselves in second-position in because the show coming back has been written on the wall for a while now.

So, we are ****ed now, but we have one more year left. We have one more time for Rory to finally make it right. Yes -- this is total balls. However, the finale works as a TWO PRONG FINALE. It starts or it ends. It would seem we have another year to ****ing endure. May Rory and Logan get more dap in the last season.

I guess this is the only thing keeping this thread alive. Although the ep description sure doesn't sound promising. According to that, Logan might as well never have existed. (and to think he got on bended knee in front of the entire Gilmore clan in the prior episode!)

A right and proper sendoff to the R/L fans. (Or rather, a ******* off.)

I'm all for this spec, Jason, but of course, we need info on Matt's future plans first.

I agree 7.22 sounds like DR intended it to be the end. After reading that, I don't think they have any intention of bringing MC back for another season. I think 7.21 is it.

Sorry for the pessimism, but that's how I roll these days when it comes to GG...

Jason and Liane, I'm with you that season 8 could fix everything. It's just that knowing that DR thought that ending the show with RL broken up and dismissing Logan importance that much could be a satisfying end, upsets me. That's all. And also that doesn't make me too confident that he would plan to bring RL back together in season 8. Why would he, if he thinks Logan is discardable?

Though, I also realize that at that time, DR could be setting up a season 8 with little appearances of Rory (since rumours said that AB didn't want to sign). So he needed some closure for RL now, because they wouldn't sign with MC if AB wasn't a regular in season 8.

Anyway, I'm not that optimist now...

It is abso-*******-lutely upsetting. I'm absolutely with you on that.

I'm just taking this ending with the same salt as I take any other season ending of practically any other TV series (and same as I took Partings). It is deliberately left incomplete, unresolved, unsatisfying. Again, it sucks. But that's how they roll.

That's the thing Andrea. We have not heard from Rosenthal in MONTHS. He might have changed his mind on everything. We simply have no clue.

We also have no clue how Rory takes this break up. If she takes the stiff upper-lip. We can easily chalk that up to Rory lying to herself. If she acts as if a 3 year relationship was meaningless. I am right there with being righteously indignant with the rest of you.

I simply feel that season 8 has been in the cards for a while. This is why Kim and Matt did not show at the wrap party. This is why Matt, Scott, and Melissa do not have anything lined up TV-wise next year. That alone is why we are going to have a freakin 22 episode season no matter the cost. So, again, this is a total bull**** situation. However, outside of seeing how these ****ing episodes have played out. All we know are the broad strokes because the details have not been shared all season. I will go on record right now stating that this will all play incredibly different. Leaving with a rather ambiguous open-ended ending for Rory as Liane was intimating. That's right...I speak fancy.

I agree. I feel the same. And Kelly Bishop and Edward Herrmann weren't at the party either, If I recall.

Nope, I believe only LG and DS were at the party ... maybe some people who were playing smaller parts, but no MC, SP, KB, EH and most importantly KB ... and well if this truely was a wrap party for the ending of the season AND of the show, I am sure some of them, at least KB would have been there also.

But again, maybe I should add this as a disclaimer the option that DR choose on how to end this Season sucks big time ... even though I do think things will lighten up in the next Season. And one thing I must add, I have always had a slight Issue (I think bigger that slight ...) with Rory never being the convincing one in this relationship and it always being Logan to make her realise things also about them together and all. I might actually enjoy Rory being the one to have to convince him that she wants another chance. And the way Logan has been portrayed, which I believe is very very positive, I do feel that is exactly where the writers are heading. He is the great guy, totally committed to her, The One and all ... and she lets him walk. The audience, or I believe many of them, will think WTH is Rory doing and will want her to be the one going after him for a change in Season 8 ...
