He's not only ruining Rory's graduation. HE'S FREAKIN RUINING RORY'S LIFE! Again, she's an asshat, but he's writing her to be a ****ing asshat. He's having her become even more wishy-washy and more reserved towards the end of this season. This leaves us with a 22 year-old women acting as if she were 15. So HOORAY FOR ****ING HOLLYWOOD employing people like David S. Rosenthal.

1. No news. And no official announcement of a Season 8 either.

2. I would think everyone in this thread wants Matt back, since without him there wouldn't even be a thread. Heh.

3. I wish; but I rather think that in all likelihood, the "secret scene" has something probably to do with L/L.

Haha.. Yeah I know everyone in this thread wants him back! LOL

As much as I do enjoy L/L. I think that the seceret scene should be R/L them breaking up is just silly.

I wish they would make the offical annoucement already! Geeze!

All of that is true. However, advertisers don't like to pay for "second-day" viewers b/c they tend to ff through the commercials. Normally, that would not be a huge problem but:

1) That number now takes college dorm viewers into account. So there is less "upside" to sell to advertisers

2) And far more important, GG will be a VERY expensive show next year. LG, KAB and SP will not come cheaply.

On the flip side, Warners will sell DVDs and has sold the show to ABC Family. But that's $$$ to Warners, not to the CW. My guess is that the CW and Warners are discussing how much Warners will have to contribute to a S8, just as Paramount/Spelling had to cut costs for the last season of 7H.

.

Yep. That sure sounds about right.

Let's hope that amidst the discussions, all those "suits that love Matt" (rumours now about that for three freakin' years) actually show up.

Oddly enough Hawk, people do not always fast-forward through the commercials. If they see something interesting. They rewind back to watch the commercial. Plus, in this day and age, there are other ways to advertise to people outside of commercials. While I agree with your point. This is a new age. Advertisers cannot be hung-up on old paradigms. Of course, I would not like to be Dawn Ostroff dealing with advertisers anytime soon. That will be a pisser.

Ok, after a long stage of anger and denial I think I've come to accept and even understand the infamous split... I actually think that, so far, Rory's struggle with her future has been portrayed in a pretty realistic way. I've gone through a very similar situation and I can tell you I can totally relate to what Rory experienced in last night's episode...
As Paris said the were not supposed to find their "ones" at 22, except that they did (Rory acknowledges Logan as her "one", and the writers too...) BUT she also wants to be whatever it is she is going to become, not only for HERSELF or her mother and their long-time dream but for LOGAN as well... He deserves to be with someone GREAT, to have by his side a true equal, not some trophy wife as expected... Rory has yet to become someone for herself to be his partner in life...
But, why would they break-up? I'm just speculating, but I'm guessing that Rory tells Logan something like what I stated before, and then Logan pulls a "Doyle" telling her that he'll follow her to Iowa or wherever she's going but that he can't be without her again (sad!)... Only that Rory can't let that happen, Logan is not Doyle (thank god!), he's supposed to be great as well, maybe greater that Rory and Rory knows that... he can't go following her, he has to do great things AND that's why I think Rory'll break up with him... Sadly, because she TRULY loves him and has his best interest...
I guess that if we get another season Logan will most definetely be in it (at least I hope... I certainly won't be watching without him)... REMEMBER! He's her ONE, last night they stated that and he's been portrayed as such, Rory even said it herself last season... I think we have very strong reasons to stay positive about this... What do you think?

But I don't know how much any of that has or will have an effect on advertising costs next year. Which is what we're dealing with with Gilmore Girls. Maybe people don't always FF through commercials. That doesn't mean the advertisers aren't going to be hesitant to really include DVR/TiVo ratings into their cost. It's a new age that they're still trying to figure out what everything means. I don't think it's going to be figured out by next year.

You mean kinda, sorta like the end of Stella Dallas in reverse, with a little bit of Shakespeare in Love thrown in? Hmm. I dunno how I would feel about that, nor do I know if the writers have the chops to pull it off. I'd have to see how it's written.

As for your other thoughts, I certainly hope you turn out to be right. It would certainly be better than the alternatives (no season 8 and/or no Matt in it).

If Matt's not on next season the ratings will go down even more, I believe. I mean the sophies were big contributers in making GG have at least decent ratings for the CW at least with out them the show would be on the chopping block

That's the thing Chrissie. Advertisers cannot be strict and firm in what they need from the networks. They can still get product placement on this show. Also, those ratings, do not take in effect how much GG sells to it's key demo. It's one of the most watched shows in the female demo. This alone means something to advertisers. Nevertheless, I think Hawk had the best point about the CW wanting Warners to help contribute to the cost of this show for next season. This makes the most sense.

Maybe. I make no claims to being fully educated on ratings. They don't seem all that good to me, though.
