I'm wondering whether that knowledge--that Rory didn't get into any of her desired career prospects, and that she's saddened by that--spurs Logan into proposing all the more. HE is the one with the option in SF. Perhaps he was thinking--what have you got to lose, Rory? What's left for you here? Maybe there are promising options in SF! Come marry me, we'll work it out! Maybe he thought she would be happy with that prospect, given her recent disappointments...

(poor Logan.)

I do have visions of the dime-a-dozen-RL-fanfiction in my head when I think about a possible S8 for RL. Rory and Logan encountering each other by chance in the workplace (Logan buying out Rory's paper). Rory and Logan initially hostile towards each other. Then Rory and Logan making out in the break room (or the elevator).

Here is one thing. I don't know if MC will come back in season 8 or not, but Rory can't share an apartment with Olivia and Lucy. This would be really too season 4. If Rory will be an independent woman, she can't have roomates, she should be on her own. And as for "on her own", I mean it: no mommy nor friends living under the same roof and giving her hints about how to make her decisions.
Yes, absolutely. Make her "independent", make her struggle, make her learn.

I felt for Rory, really did, at that last scene where she read her non-acceptance letter (even though I knew it was coming). At the same time, I kind of look forward to the episodes ahead. It's not too often you see Rory Gilmore being disappointed/rejected...

I thought Paris and Rory's conversation at the Rich Man's Shoe explained everything about why Rory would say no to Logan. It's going to be Paris in Rory's head in 7.21. The "I'm too young to be basing my decisions on my college boyfriend". Meh. Rory's response: "But you love him [Doyle]...you can't plan for that to happen..." will not hold much water. I guess her non-acceptance to Reston makes her shelve love and prioritize her career, makes her more driven or ambitious.

But that's not Rory. And she'll realize what her relationship with Logan really means soon enough...in S8...I hope.

And, finally, will Logan and Rory break up this season?

No comment. (Laughs) You'll have to wait and watch.
I really hate this man ...

And that is what he said about RL:

1. DSR: "I certainly have great degree of affection for the characters. (ha! except for Logan that is...) I'm a fan. I don't want to do anything that would piss me off. (but doesn't mind pissing on the R/L fans! Ha!) In that respect, I very much have the fan's point of view at heart... (Double Ha! I guess R/L fans aren't really fans, after all. We don't count one measly iota...)

2.Yep. I remember that quote. The "just wait and see" approach...I guess it didn't quite work out for those second-class fans... the R/L fans.

I think he watched as a JJ with all of his heart because in one of his earlier intervies he said that he knows that LL are meant to be ... and there we go ... the JJs get the end they (more or less) want and we are the losers ...

1. Heh. As you may recall, that was actually Sandlynn's scenario for season 8: R/L broken up at the end of 7 and then setting up a type of His Girl Friday situation in season 8. Sadly, fanfic is all we'll have if season 8 turns out to be a pipedream, or worse, if Matt is simply let go.

2.Just what I always wanted for Rory's Graduation...beautiful.

Then we are sharing a brain, because I have the same fanfic visions.

Everyone here knows how much I love love-dovey RL, but if this is all part of a season 8 full of exciting hot-angsty RL, I'm shamelessly all for it

Logan as Rory boss and doesn't paying attention to her, while she is all jealous and they bantering (a la season 5) and working together (a la 6.13), I would watch. And if we get some shirtless Logan for any reason, I will love even more. (I know I'm shallow but I don't care: GG is just a tv show after all.)

To sum up: season 8 with lots of MC, where Logan isn't just Rory's doormat and Rory is indeed an independent woman is a fine deal for me.

The only problem, is that I'm not confident that this is what we'll get...

Hullo. I personally don't see what about being a JJ/LL supporter makes a person necessarily a non-Sophie/RL supporter. What does being a JJ have to do with the RL ending?

Someone at the MC thread brought up a nice reference....a Good Will Hunting ending....whereby someone close to Rory gives her a swift kick in the rear to make her realize what she is letting walk out of her life!!!

Perhaps a Say Anything/Good Will Hunting cross? Either way I'd be happy if they end up together, even if I don't like the path that got them there (a scenario where Logan goes back to "win" her over again---BLAH!)

Feelings now:

Ooh, I wouldn't mind this too, Andrea. I miss the "edge" in their conversations/interactions, the kind they had in S5.

ETA: Maybe DR misses that too, hence our ending! Hahahaahaaa (*bitter laughter trails away*)

Well, perhaps he said he was a fan of LL, because they were the loudest most freaked out fans when he took over? Trust me, if he was "watching as a JJ", a lot of this season would have been quite different. Heh. I still can't help but think they are doing this because of a possible season 8. The longer I think about it, the more convinced I am that dumping Logan is stealing a boat. And that would have been a crappy place for her story to end in season 5 and it is a crappy place, if this is the last season. (And all my LL speaking again squee doesn't change my feelings on that, do you hear me DR?!?)

That would be great ... let her suffer (OMG, I am mean today )

Sorry, I am so mad today and that was simply my conclusion because I heard from ASP that they like RL together and the only thing about a couple heard from DR was about LL that they are meant to be .... a conclusion of a mad Sohpie, that's all ...

I have no hope of a Happy ending anymore ... I am so tired ... I love this couple so much and I want nothing more than this two to be together but I think it's over, at least in 2 weeks ... my optimism left me I think ...

I think that is how they are going to play it. Like, she gambled on getting that and it didn't work out. So, she is now too paranoid to gamble on Logan. Silly twit.
Actually, I see it as the opposite: Rory passed up the sure thing with the Providence Journal-Courier. She will REPEAT the mistake by passing up Logan in 7.21

I like this, too, gilmorebrazil! I just don't feel like Rory is ready to be married to anyone at this time. And it seems like this season ender is a perfect set-up for Rory to explore life a little bit without "emotional responsibilities." And after a bit of freedom, she may find out just how much she misses those emotional responsibilities.

Right. I think she is passing up the Sure Thing, too. (How many Cusack references can we hit today?) But does she see it that way?
