Is episode 22 two hours long? Are they setting up for Season 8? So many spoilers, so confusing.
Nah, she'll find a cute little town outside of Des Moines with a square and quirky people and feel right at home.

I just find the whole thing odd. An Ivy League graduate and former editor-in-chief and she's not even going to end up working in a major city? Maybe she really does want to be alone.

It isn't about Iowa itself. I am sure it is great off the interstate corridor I was on (I am still only halfway to believing you, when you say it isn't all corn!), but it is the fact that I would have expected her to head for a major city. I would have been just as surprised if they decided to plunk her down in my state. It isn't where people go to make a name for themselves in journalism, unless they are Anderson Cooper. Then he gets a better spot on CNN. But really petrochemical engineering is your field? I live in a great state. Journalism? Not so much. And that is sort of my thinking on Iowa.

Most reporters right out of school don't end up at the NYTimes or at major newspapers no matter their college accomplishments. i read a biography by a journalist and he wrote that the best experience for a young reporter is to work for a mid-sized paper because you get to cover everything. If you're at the NYTimes you might end up writing the obits for years, but in Des Moines or Santa Fe, you get more hands-on daily news reporting experience.

Yes my middle name is POLLYANA
Honestly, I don't have a problem with RL breaking up if there is a new season and both are there, working together...with some tension between them. I would suffer with them, as a good silly fan, but I know those things are part of telling a story.

What I think made people more pessimist (insert me here) is that RL breaking up doesn't seem written as a cliffhanger. If it's true that season 8 is still under negotiations, DR wrote their break up as a definitive thing. And MC isn't even in the season finale...

I still don't get the problem. To me, it just seems like people don't really know what's in Iowa and think that Rory will be all by herself.

It actually seems the most realistic to me. Graduating from college myself this May I always joke with people that Rory is, of course, going to end up with some amazing awesome job while we're all becoming interns and starting at the bottom doing things that will ONE DAY get us where we're trying to go. So I'm actually impressed that they took the route college grads can identify with.

It does seem odd to go so far away, though, for a job that isn't your big break. But at the same time, writing for an online magazine is probably a pretty good start, so I guess she scooped it up.

I've always assumed she'd either be on the West Coast and with the possibility of Logan being out there too, if this is the final season, or she'd be in the New England area to set up an 8th season if there is one. I don't know where Iowa fits in there.
Yeah, that's weird to me, too. Especially if this is supposed to be series OR season finale... how do they put her in Iowa with the intent of another season? I guess maybe if the show (miraculously) comes back, maybe she'll stay in Iowa a bit a la Logan in London, give AB some lite episodes, and then end up in NYC or something.

Very odd indeed. She rejects Logan to be independent in Iowa.

Oh-oh! Wait! But she's missing the one year old baby that she's running away with. You know, leaving her old life of money and supression behind to raise her little baby away from all those evils.

And just after I said I don't think of Iowa for journalism, I was reminded on TWoP of the Iowa Writer's Workshop. Heh. Not journalism, necessarily, but probably of interest to Rory.

I'm surprised then that she just wasn't hired by Hugo and his online magazine. She was writing stuff for him all year it seemed.

In the words of Luke, ah geez! That isn't what I meant.

Just a comment, Melodie. This is the RL thread. I'm pretty sure most of us want Rory in San Francisco and Iowa is, as genki said, totally random.
