I guess in Rory's case, she's probably getting antsy that she's graduated and doesn't have a job. So she takes the Iowa one because it's an opportunity. And if the specs are true, and it's related to the campaign. Rory would be crazy to dismiss it. Because there is no doubt, the 2008 campaign is going to a one in a million opportunity if either Hillary or Obama gets the nomination. And in the lead up, it's a unique experience.

I guess we'll have to see how it plays out. She doesn't necessarily have to take it because it's the first offer. But maybe it's because of what kind of job it will be.

I truly don't think the writers care about Logan. He was only on the show to be about Rory. And if that relationship is dead in the water, because they want Rory to show her independence streak. Right or wrong, Rory is the one that matters to the show. Logan doesn't.

Yeah Rory is a graduate of Yale. You would think she could wait for the right job. And not take what looks to be the first one... But given it's possibly the series finale. They want Rory to have a job. And not be jobless and in Stars Hollow in the series finale. Even it means, flying off to Iowa at the last minute.

But I guess we'll see how it plays out.

Well the writers have always made Logan to be a complex character to have his own dilema's even though we only seen them through Rory he wasen't like Dean who was only Rory's boyfriend

Jasper --- i get your point about Rory...but i have to say that while your Logan spec. is plausible it would be the equivalent of saying that the writer's don't care about Lane/Zach/Paris/Doyle/Townies/Luke...etc. That they were only on the show to be about Lorelai or Rory in one context or the other (it is titled GG afterall). To me that doesn't mean that they have to paint his story and his relationship to Rory into a corner that has no possibilities. It doesn't fit to me.

Had they been showing a more direct build up to this over the course of the season, then fine --- i wouldn't like it but i would buy it. I don't buy it right now ---- not after the way the beginning of the season was written and everything leading up to Logan's birthday....which i thought was a tad stretching as far as trying to turn the corner of a storyline mid-block.

but that's just me....you're right --- i guess we'll just have to see how it plays out.

yes---- exactly. We've also gotten a bit of backstory for Logan that lead to understanding the some of the complexities of his character.

True. But Lane, Paris and crew were around because they were original characters. They weren't created to be a love interest. Sure Logan got more than the average love interest. But at the core, the show only had Logan around if it involved Rory. He wasn't core enough to explore. Which is why we would go episodes where we didn't see him.

Yeah Lane and Paris were about Rory. Or Sookie about Lorelai, having a close friend who she works with. But the made them characters they dealt with. Maybe not all the time. But they showed Lane finding love, getting married...having twins. Sookie finding love with Jackson. But they also showed Paris to be more than a adversary at school for Rory. They because friends, roomates for a time.

They showed Lane on the show, when Rory wasn't even around to interact with.

Well Dean got a little more to, than the average boyfriend. They showed him getting married. The whole affair subplot. Which involved Rory. But was background.

But I just think they don't care enough of Logan to show that he had a life away from Rory. At the end of the day, he wasn't a core character. His character resolved around Rory only... With angst coming at them, from his dysfunctional family... And their different personalities.

While Lane, Paris, Sookie and crew had more...

Right or wrong.

Interesting. I could buy it. Adds to drama, if the show comes back. Plays into the upcoming election.

And it's a decent job. Immediately to be on the political beat!

Would have though it would have been on the Hillary Clinton beat. Given she may be the high profile female to have a shot at the presidency.

But either is high profile job!

Jasper, your subtle way to cheer RL break up and bash Logan in their shipper thread is annoying. I'm sure some of your thoughts would be more appropriated in the NoRoLo thread.

Thanks. That's interesting. This is so different than what I the season/series would end as far as Rory's SL that I still don't know what I really think about it. If the show comes back, it would be risky to still have her covering the campaigns considering eps would have to be written so much before the actual events occur.

Yep, that's pretty much what's left at this point, so I guess I'm voting for this.

Thanks for the spoiler Nicolalala. Okay, Iowa is starting to make some sense now. Makes me feel just a tad bit better. But only just a tad .

Anyone getting the new thread? I can get it unless someone else already has it.

ETA: Thanks for getting it Andrea

Lorelai and Rory taking a ride with the carriage after Rory refused Logan’s proposal? Could DR be any crueller? Don’t think so.

As for Rory’s “new job”…
Don’t know if this is supposed to be a set up for another season and for Rory to find her “way back into love” or just to let Rory end up alone somewhere with only her career to focus on.
This seems all so ridiculous.
