On Lorelai's maturity:

Lorelai is not mature. (Or, at least, to be fair, the writers' need to fill GG with romantic drama has caused Lorelai to become less mature than she ever was). I thought she might have some capacity for maturity up until her break-up scene with Chris. In that scene, I didn't feel like I was watching two adults who'd married with reasonable expectations of marriage and then had reasonable marital problems that ended their relationship. I felt like I was looking at the sixteen year-old versions of Lorelai and Chris, utterly crushed because they realized they couldn't sustain a marriage on teenage affection alone. Awful as it was, I can understand sleeping with Chris in a moment of emotional devastation because Lorelai's an impulsive person. But, when you end one relationship, and date someone else for several months, you have plenty of time to use your head, process your feelings and think things through. I hoped (totally unreasonably, I realize) that Lorelai would say she had thought things through and she had thought Chris was the right one for her at the time. But instead, she says she was in denial about her feelings for Luke, and apparently she dated and married Chris without even asking herself why she was doing it or if Chris was the right one for her. Not mature behaviour at all.

So, Lorelai really knows nothing about romantic relationships. And her advice on Rory's romantic relationships probably shouldn't be taken seriously, in that light.

Does Rory know anything about romantic relationships? I think how she responds to Logan's proposal will show that. And I actually think, how she handles that might show whether she's more mature than her mom. If she's really not ready for marriage, she'd be unwise to say yes. Because saying yes without being ready would be similar to what Lorelai did in Paris. I don't know what implications that would have for Logan. I do think he'd be crushed. But dating someone and committing to them for life are two different things, and if Logan is ready for lifelong commitment and Rory isn't, then maybe they shouldn't be together. On the other hand, if Logan is just proposing impulsively, it would be nice to think that Rory could recognize that and tell him she's not ready but neither is he, really, and her no is only a "not yet."

But, if Logan's not in the series finale...that doesn't sound good. Unless there's an 8th season? And also, I absolutely disagree that she can't have both marriage and a career. And I hope the writers don't portray it that way. It's fine for Rory not to be ready for marriage, but don't make it a choice between marriage and a career, because that doesn't make sense.

Apparently, it's the "Sophie killer" scene DSR "planned" for all along...

"True Love" indeed.

Does Rory?

I thought Rory had learned something, but apparently she thinks lines like "my terms" work on guys.

They don't, I'm afraid.

thanks George for the link.....

So Rory's angry and a NO??? ANGRY AND A NO???? ANGRY AND A NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is such BS with a capital B and capital S.....no.....ALL CAPS!!!! What a d--- move to pull......... I want to say I'M "done and gone" I'm so frakkin mad right now....... but I know that I'll subject myself to the torture that is this sl just to see Logan.......I don't give a rat's a-- how "irresponsible" Logan is PERCEIVED or written ---- nothing can validate her being ANGRY as he is on bended knee because if he Fd up enough for her to be angry in the first place i can't see him proposing.

Using grand gestures to win her affection didn't work before and Logan wouldn't use the ULTIMATE gesture as a means for forgiveness ---- what the hell have DSR and the writer's been drinking over there??? It almost feels like I'm talking about the wrong show...this is the same R/L we've been watching for THREE seasons now right??!!! I didn't fall into some sort of worm hole where Logan has always been an asshat did I?????

ok....sorry for the rant --- just a little blindsided by that piece of info. Guess that's what i get for going to sleep!!!!

It does seem like the men Rory dates always get portrayed as unworthy of her. Not good.

Why should Rory get angry? It's not that unreasonable is it, for her boyfriend of several years to propose? Poor Logan. (Poor men who fall in love with Gilmore girls).

On the other hand, I'd say that if Rory does get angry, she really isn't ready for marriage at all and doesn't want to even think about it. Which makes me think that Logan might be best to leave her alone. Somehow it wouldn't really surprise me if Rory got angry, though. Maybe because her emotions have seemed so...superficial, sometimes, this season, it's hard to know how much loyalty or love she has for anyone.

A while ago, when I heard Rory and Logan break up, I thought that maybe he was going to ask her to marry him and she didn't want to and that was the reason. Well, since that was right, now I'm wondering if my other idea is right...that in the final episode, Rory rethinks her decision to reject Logan. That would make a cliffhanger for a next season, wouldn't it?

Now I'm almost thinking there has to be an eighth season if Rory breaks up with Logan in the second-to-last episode. Why would the writers want to leave viewers with a final image of Rory sad because she's just lost a longtime boyfriend? Unless, as people have said, it's to give the message that it's fine to be single...making Rory the new, young Lorelai?

the fact that she gets angry just pisses me off so ****ing much, i dont care who you are unless your boyfriend has done some horrible unforgivable thing [which logan hasnt] she has no right to get angry at the fact that he loves her and wants to marry her. if your not ready for marriage then fine thats understandable but dont get angry because he got down on one knee and wanted to spend the rest of his life with you.
shes her mothers daughter allright

to me it always seemed like logan loved rory more then she loved him..but i just figured it was how it came out in their acting...boy was i wrong about that one.
logan was always doing so much for her, telling her he loved her...and then whenever someone brought up logan in a conversation to rory she was like yeah hes good, and then she would change the subject, the only time she seemed to tell anybody about him was when he was doing something she didnt approve of [correct me if im wrong in saying that...its possible my anger at the moment has clouded my judgement]

I think that your heart breaking while you are on bended knee could feel a lot like the other....though I'm not a guy!!!

another thing...most of this information is coming out at the same time??...is that even normal
Well they did the shoot over a couple of days in a busy school so it's understandable there would be LOTS of reports come out at the same time, it's not like private studio with limited access. In a way I'm surprised we haven't got more, maybe a few shots video's on youtube?

So maybe we all overreacted about Luke being at the graduation since no one has seen SP there. Maybe DSR realized that we were right and it would be inappropriate. Not that I care about that anymore.
