| LOST The full ABC press release for season three:
Jack, Kate and Sawyer open the season in captivity as prisoners of "The Others." Just who these "Others" are and what they want are primary questions Season Three will explore. Michael Emerson joins the regular cast in his ongoing role as Henry Gale, leader of "The Others." Romance looms on the horizon as Jack's interests veer towards a mysterious new woman, whose motives may be questionable. Sun and Jin will continue to celebrate their pregnancy - but is the child really Jin's? Locke and Sayid will band together with some of the other survivors and journey across the island in an attempt to free Jack, Kate and Sawyer. Charlie will attempt to return into the good graces of Claire and her baby, Aaron, but can he be trusted to stay clean and sober? The fates of Locke, Desmond and Mr. Eko in the aftermath of the implosion of the hatch are answered. Will Penny Widmore find the island and her long, lost love, Desmond, and can the survivors find a way to interact with the outside world? The band of friends, family, enemies and strangers must continue to work together against the cruel weather and harsh terrain if they want to stay alive. But as they have discovered during their 60-plus days on the island, danger and mystery loom behind every corner, and those they thought could be trusted may turn against them. Even heroes have secrets. "Lost" stars Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Mr. Eko, Naveen Andrews as Sayid, Henry Ian Cusick as Desmond, Emilie de Ravin as Claire, Michael Emerson as Henry Gale, Matthew Fox as Jack, Jorge Garcia as Hurley, Josh Holloway as Sawyer, Daniel Dae Kim as Jin, Yunjin Kim as Sun, Evangeline Lilly as Kate, Elizabeth Mitchell as Juliet, Dominic Monaghan as Charlie and Terry O'Quinn as Locke. ********************************************************************************* General Season 3 spoilers:
I *believe* Locke, Eko and Desmon will be back. Terry O'Quinn and SexAAA (Adewale Akinnuoye Agbaje) are both under contract, and I've heard Desmond will be back. Now, that could be in a flashback, but it was my understanding his next appearance would be more of the still-breathing-on-the-island variety. Source: Kristin on E!Online

That's it for now kids. ********************************************************************************* From secretagentman at TWoP
302 is titled " Further Instructions". It's Claire-centric and her flashback features Mike and Jan, a hippie-ish couple in their 50's. They are warm and kind, but also tough and protective when the situation calls for it. ********************************************************************************
07/14 - Juliet, a woman in her mid-30s, will be added to the cast as a regular. Juliet is a natural leader and a smart and independant woman. One of her flashbacks (?) will involve her mother Amelia. During said falshback, the ladies will discuss burnt brownies and Juliet's love life. It seems that Juliet may be an Other. Juliet tries to convince a pissed off Jack to trust her. The bad news: There will be a 13-week gap between the show's first run of episodes (six-ish) in the fall and the unbroken 15- or 16-episode string to close the 2006-07 season ******************************************************************************** What We Know / News on the Upcoming Season
Season 3 launches on October 4th 2006, starting with what Cuse and Lindelof call a "mini-season" of 6 new episodes, running up to November 15th, ending with a mini cliffhanger. The show will then take a 3 month long break until February 2007, when the season returns with a remarkable 17 all-new episodes which will run uninterrupted until the season finale in May 2007. (Source: May 26th Podcast) (Source: wikipedia.com)
The Lost Producers have announced that there will be no reruns next year, only a 3 month break (yes, it sounds long) for ABC's new show Day Break.
It is rumoured that the first episode will be called "Him". This will act as a cliff-hanger as the identity of the one referred to as him will be revealed. Presumably, as LOST goes, at the end of the episode. It is rumoured to be a character we have seen before. Whether in a flashback or real time is unknown. Also, a main question in the first episodes will be "Why Jack, Sawyer and Kate?".
According to an interview with Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof and according to the May 26th Podcast season three will have more focus on The Others, introduce new characters and romance and interpersonal relationships will blossom.
The four-toed statue is a lead to Season 3 where there will be attention to an archaeological theme and to the people who were on the island before the DHARMA Initiative's arrival in the late 1970s.
Kimberley Joseph will return to her role as Cindy
The monster will definitely be back in season 3.
Michael Emerson, who portrayed Henry Gale in Season 2, will become a regular member of the LOST cast in Season 3. We will see some "background" survivors who are described as next:
Female, 30s, with leadership qualities
Female, early 20s, very attractive
Male, Latino, early 20s, handsome, mysterious quality
Harold Perrineau is not a regular actor in next season. He will be back as a guest star like Walt did in Season 2
The growth of Malcolm David Kelly (Walt) will be addressed in the 3rd season
Libby will be back in some flashbacks
On the official Lost Podcast it was said that Frogurt will become a more pivital character and have flashbacks ******************************************************************************** Lost Season 3 Scoops From Comic-Con! - ComingSoon.net Source: Scott Chitwood July 22, 2006
"Lost" co-creator/executive producer Damon Lindelof, executive producers Bryan Burk and Carlton Cuse, and stars Jorge Garcia (Hugo) and Daniel Dae Kim (Jin) attended the San Diego Comic-Con today and talked about the upcoming season three starting on October 4. The presentation was briefly interrupted by a planned protestor, a Rachel Blake, who yelled at them for supporting the Hanso Foundation and told people to go to HansoExposed.com.
Here are the highlights of what they said!
- Season three will have a vastly different feeling, but at the same time reembrace the roots of the series.
- Season three will focus more on adventure.
- The first six episodes in the fall will be like a mini-series and focuses on the captivity story of Jack, Kate and Sawyer.
- We'll learn more about The Others and Alex's story.
- An event will happen mid-season that will blow people away!
- J.J. Abrams will co-write the first episode which is titled "The Tale of Two Cities." He'll also direct the seventh episode, which is the first episode of the second half of the third season (early next year).
- They are going to reveal what happened to Locke, Desmond and Echo.
- They are adding new regular characters, which they are casting for now.
- You'll see more scenes from the outside world (taking place at the same time they are on the island).
- Desmond and Penny's relationship forms a new seed for a new element in the series.
- Libby will be back to fill in the gaps.
- Within the first few episodes Kate "gets with someone".
- They are going to explain the medical miracles.
- They debunked the rumor that the monster is a cloud nanobot.
- The hyroglypics on the countdown clock are signs of the underworld.
- They have 4 to 5 seasons planned out, and they knew the beginning and ending from the start. Going beyond 5 seasons would be stretching it, they said.
- If they introduce a question on the show, they already know the answer.
- They do look at fans' reactions and that does affect how they do things on the show.
- They showed a promo for the 13 "Lost" diaries that will be on Verizon, which featured Hugo finding a camera and interviewing people on the island.
- A "Lost" game from Ubisoft is coming next year which features a new story.
- On the season two DVD, you can expect one feature which has all of Sawyer's famous lines! ******************************************************************************** TV Guide Community: Major Lost , Desperate ...
What can you tell me about the show's first six episodes?
Carlton Cuse: Damon and I are designing the show as a sort of miniseason. We almost view the first six as a miniseries. And it's going to answer what we left hanging at the end of the finale. Obviously, we're going to explain what happened to Locke and Desmond and Eko, and sort of deal with the fact that Sawyer and Kate and Jack are in captivity. We really love the idea of having this little six-episode [arc], and we have a whole story design with a conclusion and a cliff-hanger that will hopefully keep the audience curious and hanging and excited about coming back in January for the longer run of episodes.
Are you happy about the scheduling move?
Cuse: We're ecstatic. We couldn't be happier. Damon and I got so many complaints last year from the fans about frustration over the repeats, and feeling so confused about when Lost was going to be on. The impatience of having to wait two or three weeks before the story could continue. Now when Lost is on, it's on.
Would you have liked to have gotten more then six episodes up front?
Cuse: The problem, ultimately, is that we physically cannot produce more than 22, 23 or 24 hours. We did 24 hours of the show last year, and it nearly killed us. We were simultaneously producing episodes 22, 23 and 24 at the end of the season with three different crews. It's such a hard show to make, and yet there are 35 weeks in the prime-time season. We wish we could make 35 episodes of Lost; we just can't. There are always going to be compromises in scheduling the show. And [ABC president] Steve McPherson decided, I think very smartly, that it would be way too long to wait until January to have the show back on again. That was the other choice: to come back on in January and run straight through to May, but I think it's better and more satisfying for the fans to have a pod in the fall. To not have to wait from May until January for the show to be back on. But we like it. We see those six episodes as a little miniseries, and it's going to be intense and hyped and high-octane. Will Cynthia Watros (Libby) be back in flashback?
Cuse: We would love to tell more chapters of Libby's life, in the same way that you've got Jack's father's story. That character was dead from the word go, but that doesn't mean we haven't learned and seen his story over the course of the series. We would love to sort of finish up Cynthia's story, but if I were specific about that it would spoil the surprise of our storytelling. Will the Oct. 4 season premiere pick up where we left off?
Cuse: We pick up where we left off, but obviously there are different stories on different parts of the island and, you know, we will get to all of them in the first few episodes. But like last year, we didn't deal with the raft survivors in the first episode. Not everything is going to be answered in the first episode. But the captivity story [with Jack, Kate and Sawyer] will definitely be addressed. Where are you in terms of casting three new roles?
Cuse: We are right in the middle of it. We hope to have announcements next week. We're casting two female roles and one new male role. I can't tell you where [the characters] are going to come from, but obviously, one of the things we're doing this year on the show is... learning a lot more about the Others, and their society and their history. So it might be fair to say that you're going to learn more about some other characters who are also Others.
I hear we're finally going to get some romance on the show this season. It's the season of sex!
Cuse: Finally, yes! I wouldn't call it the season of sex, but I will say that romance will play a much more active part of the show this year.... We actually meant to get to it last year. We didn't really get to romance as fast as we thought we were going to. So, this year that's definitely on [our] agenda. Are we talking Jack and Kate?
Cuse: I think actually one of these new female characters is going to be a romantic interest, possibly for Jack.
Is she going to be the third part of the triangle that was initially planned for Michelle Rodriguez?
Cuse: Yeah, exactly. And it's not going to be just one new romance. There will be several new romances on the show this year... The second season was a little darker, a little more intense, a little more mythology-oriented, and I think that this year we're looking to make the show a little bit brighter, a little bit more vibrant, a little bit more on the action-adventure axis, a little bit more on the romance axis. We were interior, we were down underground in the hatch, it was very monochromatic. I don't think the show will be as dark and as intense this year. And it will be, I think, even more on the character axis than on the mythological axis. Is the empiricism vs. faith issue still core to the show?
Cuse: I think it's one of those issues that's never really resolved. I mean, I think, in essence, the show is constantly about empiricism vs. faith. Many of the things that happen on the show are debatable on that axis. Was this something that was supernatural, or is there a logical explanation – and which one is the truth? That's part of what Lost is all about, and we actually like the ambiguity of those story choices that we make because it allows the audience to sort of participate and engage in that debate themselves.
How will Locke be different?
Cuse: John Locke will be a very different person in Season 3. All of his questions and his doubts and his uncertainty have been answered. In fact, the button did mean something. And there was something at stake. And I think that will bring about a change in that character. How big a role will Penny have?
Cuse: Penny is an important character in the overarching mythology of the show. I don't want to say too much about how much she's going to be in Season 3.
Will the outside world play a significant role this season?
Cuse: Yeah. The interrelationship between the outside world and the island will be something that will be a part of Season 3.
And the monster?
Cuse: Yes, the monster will be a part of Season 3, as will the polar bear. People are asking what happened to the polar bear, so we will be doing some polar bear stories. People also want to know what happened to that thing that ate the pilot in the, um, pilot.
Cuse: That was the monster. He wasn't really devoured. When we saw Greg Grunberg he was hanging 70 feet in the air on a tree branch. He was dead but he wasn't swallowed. The smoke creature and the monster are one and the same.
Are Walt and Michael gone forever?
Cuse: Not necessarily. They still remain a part of the overall mythology of Lost. But as to when we will revisit their story, that's not something I can answer. But we will not immediately be getting back to Michael's story. Malcolm David Kelley will be getting older and taller. That has to be a consideration when you plan his story.
Cuse: It's something that we've accounted for. What about Cindy the missing flight attendant?
Cuse: She's a personal favorite of yours, isn't she? I hope Cindy shows up at some point. Let's just say we have many actors on our show; she is not at the top of the list of actors we're servicing.
Any firm plans for J.J. Abrams to write/direct any episodes?
Cuse: J.J. is going to cowrite the premiere with Damon, and our hope is he will direct Episode 7, which will be the first episode of the new pod.
Were you bummed about the Emmy snub?
Cuse: Obviously, we're disappointed. We feel like we did a really good season of the show. But in the bigger picture, Damon and I are so overwhelmed by the success of the show, both critically and ratings-wise.... I mean, it wasn't our year for that to happen, and that's OK. ******************************************************************************** This is from MA's blog on Tvguide
Exclusive! Lost Snags "Brazilian Tom Cruise"
Lost has found its new mystery man — and you're reading about it here first! Rodrigo Santoro, best known to American audiences as the hot dude Laura Linney crushed on in Love Actually, is joining the cast this fall. I know what you're thinking, "Rodrigo... Whatchoo Talkin' 'Bout Willis?" That was my initial reaction, too. Well, the 30-year-old actor may not be a household name here in the States, but there apparently is no bigger movie star in Brazil than him. Don't take my word for it though. Read on as Lost boys Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse proudly discuss their latest find. I have to admit, I'm not all that familiar with Rodrigo's work.
Carlton: You haven't seen Carandiru or Behind the Sun or Brainstorm? You're a little behind the curve. (Laughs) Rodrigo has won, like, eight best actor awards, including the first ever best actor award for the Brazilian Academy of Arts and Film. He's a huge star in Brazil.
Damon: He keeps getting described to us as the Brazilian Tom Cruise.
Carlton: Although we like to refer to him as the Brazilian Russell Crowe. He's also the mystery man opposite Nicole Kidman in those Chanel commercials that Baz Luhrmann directed, and the surfer dude in Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle. He was the hunk in the beach scene with Demi Moore.
Damon: The ladies like it when he takes his shirt off — not to say he'll be competing with Sawyer in that category. But the hunk thing must've been a big factor in his casting.
Carlton: Only so far as there's going to be a certain expectation for the character based on his looks.
Damon: On [Lost], what you see is never what you get. We also think he is an incredibly talented actor. He's a guy who's perfect for Lost because he's a face that the American audience is not familiar with, but he's been in the business long enough, you know, [that he's also] an awesome actor that makes some really interesting choices. And he's certainly not interested in being the hunk on the show, nor are we interested in writing that for him. Although I think when people start to see him and surmise what role he's going to play on the show that's the place they're going to go to. "More eye candy for Lost!"
Carlton: We don't really want to be at all specific about what we're doing with the character or what he's going to play. Part of the surprise and the enjoyment of watching the show is sort of getting a chance to meet a new character and see how his role is going to unfold in relation to the rest of the cast. ******************************************************************************** Hey all!
I'm here at the NBC TCA in Pasadena(where the 30 Rock panel with Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin is about to start -- woo woo), but our resident expert Lostologist, Dr. Anna Graham is, naturally down at Comic-Con in San Diego, where a few Lost peeps are dishing out scoop.
I just received this message (via the communication system in the Hatchcicle) from Anna and wanted to share:
Dr. G. here! Greetings from the Klingon County Fair, better known as Comic-Con. It's hot, it's crowded, and it's the scoopiest site on the planet for your fave TV shows.
Here's the word from Damon Lindelof, Carleton Cuse, Bryan Burk, Jorge Garcia and Daniel Dae Kim at the Lost panel.
And remember, you heard it here last!
* First ep of the season is called "A Tale of Two Cities"
* The smoke monster is definitely not made of nanobots
* Kate will "make her choice" in the first six eps of the season. Her choice is presumably between Sawyer and Jack, as opposed to between Pepsi and Coke, in which case the correct answer is obviously Sprite.
* Rachel Blake (as played by the divine Jaime Silberhatz) showed up, live and in person, to bravely heckle the panel and accuse them of collaboration with the Hanso Foundation. She was escorted from the ballroom before I could give read her my latest poem, "Ode to a Geek Pinup"
* The word "clone" will never be heard on the show
* Adewale invented the Jesus stick
* There will be 13 "mobisodes," running about one or two minutes each, likely in the form of a video diary. Per video played at the Con, Hurley apparently found a video camera in the jungle in a heretofore unseen scene. The mobisodes will probably be released to cell phones during the 13-week hiatus between the first and second blocks of new Lost eps, and hopefully be available for download to the general public after a week.
* The Powers That Be all but confirmed Libby will be appearing in flashbacks, most logically Desmond's or Hurley's
* If you're asking about daddy issues, you're asking the right questions
* They were bummed that none of the actors got nominated for the work, and that Battlestar Galactica didn't get nominated at all
* Strong implication that an underwater hatch might exist and that it might be explored this season
* The PTB are still claiming they killed Cynthia Watros off the show for the dramatic impact. The fans still don't believe them.
* Terry O'Quinn wants a knife in his hand in season three, and the producers seem inclined to give it to him
* Carlton teased that the survivors' experience of time on the Island may (or may not) be a realistic experience
* The producers say the hieroglyphics on the timer translate to "underworld" Source: Kristin @ E! forums ******************************************************************************** More info from Kristin:

~~~~ SAWYER FEATURE ON THE DVD
DL: There is an amazing feature--if I may give the DVD a shout-out--on the LOST season two DVD where we have edited together every single insult that Sawyer has ever made.
CC: It's astonishing when you hear them all together really. It's hilarious.
DL: You can sit at home and play with your friends and try to figure out who he's talking about.
~~~~
MOBISODES
Dr. G: Can you tell us about the mobisodes, and in particular will I need a new phone to see them?
CC: Um. Uh, technical--I don't know whether you're going to need a new phone to see them, but we are, we are--
DL: I don't think so. I think, you know, we're--the deal is with Verizon and then they're partnering up with Sprint and other carriers, so, hopefully if you have a phone that has vid-treaming capabilities, you'll be able to watch this. It's just a matter of you might have to wait a day or two behind he people who have the first deal. But we don't want it--we want all the fans of the show to be able to see it, and then, a week after they're available on phones, you'll be able to watch them on the Internet, free of charge.
CC: Our goal is to try to get them done so that they will fall in the period between our two pods of new episodes, so they'll be at least some content coming out between the six episodes in the fall and the episodes that we run in the spring.
Dr. G: How many are you guys gonna do?
DL: The plan right now is to do 13. They're, they're very short. Just--
CC: A couple minutes.
DL: A couple minutes each, but, I think when the fans see what it is, you know, everybody keeps saying what are the mobisodes, how's it gonna work? You guys have just sort of seen a little taste of it here, but, uh, we, we think it's really, really cool, and we didn't want to do anything...It's been really hard to get them off the ground, because we didn't want to do anything that was a waste of your time, even two minutes. If it's lame, who cares? So, we, we feel like, if you're gonna take the time to download it and watch it that it should give you something that is, that the show is not giving you or enhances, you know, your involvement in the show.
~~~~ THE RETURN OF BADASS LOCKE
[Note from Anna: Hope it's not a case of be careful what you wish for!]
DL: There's a constant dialogue happening between the actors and the producers and the writers; sometimes directly, sometimes indirectly. And very much, the actors' experience playing the part often sort of echoes, um, the character. So, for this, this season, I don't--anybody who's reading anything about the show, sort of probably aware of the fact that Terry O'Quinn was very frustrated. You know, in terms, here's a guy who season one is running around the jungle. He knows all the answers, he's on an axis of destiny, he finally feels like the Island has provided him the answer, and the answer is he has to sit at a computer every 108 minutes and push a button. And this frustrates him. You know, over the course of the season, both Locke and Terry get frustrated and he would say to us, "I want a knife in my hand and kill things again." So we say, "Oh, you'll get your knife back, John Locke." In season three we think is going to be really exciting, but you know, sometimes as writers we have to frustrate the actors in order to tell the larger story.
~~~~ SUN'S BABY
[Note from Anna: The prods always say season seven (and beyond) is the zombie season.]
Fan: When is Sun going to have Michael's baby?
DL: Oh, no, you di'in.
DDK: I am personally offended by that.
DL: Um, well, going back to the earlier question about how each season takes approximately 30 days of real time, I'd say somewhere in the range of season 13. Fourteen? I dunno...Let's just say there will be zombies in the delivery room.
~~~~ JIN'S LANGUAGE SKILLS
CC: For instance, we realize that Daniel speaks English.
DDK: Don't tell ANYBODY.
CC: Maybe you'll be seeing some more of that.
~~~~ ROMANCE COMMENT #1
Carlton: We're definitely having more romance on the show this year. It was something we tried to get to last year, but the storytelling--we didn't quite get to where we wanted to get to. So yes, that is coming up, and there's a good reason that Jorge and Daniel are sitting next to each other. ROMANCE COMMENT #2
Fan: I just wanted to ask: When the heck is Kate going to get with SOMEBODY?
CC: Very soon!
Fan: Promise?
CC: We promise.
DL: We swear to god. Depends what you mean by "get with."
CC: I think you know what she means by "get with." Don't be coy. Don't try to get her to say things in front of like 5,000 people that she doesn't want to say.
DL: It's a family audience. But yes, she is, within the first six episodes, she will officially be making her selection.
~~~~ DADDY ISSUES
Fan: Is there anything that goes along with the rich powerful fathers, Sun's dad, Jack's dad, Locke's dad, um, Libby's husband? Like, are they all, like, do they have anything to do with, uh, the Dharma Initiative?
CC: I think that, uh, you know, father issues are very much a part of the show, thematically. I mean, that is something that we deal with extensively, if you look at the characters on the show; a lot of the characters have daddy issues. That's, um, that is sort of a thematic thread and something which is very much a part of how we come up with stories and how we write stories.
DL: But, you know, there are obviously, you know, one of the things that we love writing and we feel like the fans who watch the show very closely love watching is, realizing at what level do certain characters connect to each other? You know, there are connections between Mr. Paik and various other parties that are sort of being alluded to, not on the Internet, but maybe gradually as we begin moving on the show. So you're asking the right question, but we're certainly not going to confirm or deny.
~~~~ DHARMA INITIATIVE
CC: The Dharma Initiative? They were, like, good guys. They were doing to do projects for the betterment of humanity.
~~~~ SEASON THREE
DL: You know, we're really excited about season three, one of the things, you know, it's going to be vastly different feeling that preceded it, but at the same time, we're sort of re-embracing the roots of what we love about the show. We feel there's going to be a lot more adventure in season three. Obviously, it's very exciting to us that Kate and Jack and Sawyer have been captured by these other people. So, finally, you know, we have an opportunity to learn more about these other people: who they are, where they came from, why they have captured Kate Jack and Sawyer, but more importantly, this idea of, of telling an adventure story, a captivity story. That's really going to be a big piece of at least the first six episodes, the sort of mini-series event. And then something is going to happen about midway through the year that will effectively hopefully fry everybody's brains. If it doesn't, we'll once again get cries of jumping the shark, but you know, as we always say, once we stop trying to the jump the shark the show is going to become incredibly boring. You know, this element has always been part of the DNA of the show, so we've got a lot of factors coming back. Desmond and Locke and Eko: What happened to them down there? And how did they survive, if they survived.
CC: And truly we are going to have more of an emphasis on the character relationships and romance on the show this year. We're going to be introducing new characters on the show this year, and the mystery of who they are and where they came from and what their flashback stories are will be a part of the show. And obviously at the end of last season, we did something that we hadn't done for the first 49 hours of the show: We took you to the outside world, and that was very significant for laying the seeds of a whole new element that is going to come into the show. Obviously Penny and Desmond's relationship. That scene sort of teed up something that will become more significant on the show this year. We're actually really excited. We have a really cool game plan. We see each of the seasons of the show as like a book, like in the Harry Potter series. And each one has its own character and its own story and this season will be in a lot of ways about our characters' interactions with the Others and we will get to know a lot about their society, but as Damon said, with a real sort of action-adventure orientation.
DL: And naked Hurley and Jin. ******************************************************************************** Watch With Kristen's Chat From frind: But what did Malin say about Lost?
Oh yeah, that other little show. Tee hee. Here's that Q&A with the (non-Ace of Base) Malin:
K.V.: I heard you might be a new character on Lost.
M.A.: I have heard that rumor as well, and we're still not sure what's happening. There's nothing set in stone yet. We'll just have to wait and see.
K.V.: Have you had auditions for Lost and that's what's going on?
M.A.: No. No auditions. They've just seen some of my stuff on The Comeback and you know, whatever they've seen, I guess they liked! From Little_Rock: Could you please tell me if Desmond will be on Lost next year?
I'm hearing...yes! Is it hot in here? From adams: Hurley wasn't necessarily as vicious toward Michael as he could've been when he found out that Michael was the one that killed Libby. Did you think that came from a place of strength? Or weakness?
I asked Jorge Garcia that when I ran into him last week (it's in the column, in case you missed it--scroll down!) and he answered: "I think he's still basically in mourning. I think it was just kind of sinking in, everything that had happened in just a very short amount of time." From qualie: Any more Lost scoop?
There's some good stuff in this week's Lost podcast. In case you missed it, we learned: We can't say for sure that Desmond survived the season finale, but we'll definitely be seeing him again (Let's hope Locke and Eko are just as lucky!). Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse said when the show comes back in September, we'll understand the consequences of Desmond triggering the hatch's fail-safe and what that means in terms of the island. Apparently, the island was only visible to the outside world for a spilt second, but it was also visible on September 22, 2004 when Flight 815 crashed, so we'll find out how that affects the storyline. It sounds like we'll be getting more Desmond flashbacks and we'll find out why the Others wanted Jack, Kate and Sawyer, but not Hurley. In the first six episodes we'll learn where and what the Others call home, how Jack got his tattoos, why Locke was in the wheelchair and more about the main characters and their relationships. Apparently, relationships will be more important than mythology in season three, although they also revealed that the four-toed statue represents the history and archeology of the island and that we'll find out what happened on the island pre-Dharma days. Apparently, there were other Others around before the 1970s. Oh, and one more thing: We will see the smoke monster again, and I'm not sure what this means, but they said there may have been instances where we saw the smoke monster in season two, but didn't realize that's what it was. ******************************************************************************** TV Guide
Jack's New Lost Love Is Found
Elizabeth Mitchell has joined the cast of ABC's Lost as a possible new love interest for Matthew Fox's Jack, Reuters is reporting. Mitchell's credits include playing Angelina Jolie's lady lover in Gia, and Kerry Weaver's lesbian love interest on ER. (If you can't quite place her, there's a pic here.) As Lost exec producer Carlton Cuse recently told the Ausiello Report, "I wouldn't call [Season 3] the season of sex, but I will say that romance will play a much more active part of the show this year," adding that one of the new females was earmarked to figure into the Jack-Kate romance. Earlier this week TVGuide.com learned that Rodrigo Santoro is joining Lost in a mystery role, leaving one announced new character still to be cast Kiele Sanchez Gets Lost
Remember the hint I dropped in this week's Ask Ausiello about an actress from a "recently axed TV show" vying for that third Lost role? Well, I was referring to Related's Kiele Sanchez -- not Eliza Dushku, as 90 percent of you had guessed/hoped. I'm telling you this now because it looks like Ms. Sanchez closed the deal late Friday, although I have yet to receive an official confirmation from ABC. I'll have more on this developing story in this Wednesday's AA ******************************************************************************** Just got off the phone with Harold Perrineau, who plays Michael on Lost. He tells me that last night was his swansong on the hit ABC series. Despite a lot of unanswered questions about him and his TV son, Michael is being written out of the show! Season 3's storyline has no plans to follow Michael. Perhaps, though, he will be back for Season 4 -- which won't air until 2008! (Do you know how *old* I will be then? Like, 28!)
Perrineau tells me he is no longer under contract with "Lost" and is free to look for other work. He also thinks the finale was slightly confusing to the viewer and didn't clearly spell out that Michael and Walt left the island, headed toward home.(We are supposed to assume that Michael and Walt do make it home but don't send help back for the others -- as opposed to The Others.)
Honestly, I thought last night's finale was great and action packed, but the ending was anti-climatic. I was disappointed.
By TERRY MORROW
Scripps Howard News Service
02-JUN-06
Actor Harold Perrineau says he won't be back on "Lost" when it returns in the fall.
"As of so far, I am not back next season," says the actor whose character, Michael, sailed off with his son, Walt, during the ABC show's May 24 finale. "I am not off the show, but I am not back next season ... and I may not ever be back."
Perrineau, who has been central to the "Lost" storyline in recent weeks, says he is free to pursue other work. He is no longer under contract with "Lost." He says producers told him weeks ago that he was being written off the show.
However, he also knew of a storyline idea in which Michael, once he got home, attempts to get back to the island. Apparently that storyline is not planned for next season, he says.
"I have no idea what is going on now," he says.
The actor, whose credits include the HBO series "Oz" and the "Matrix" film series, says he and his family have left Hawaii, where "Lost" is shot. He is now in New York City and mulling offers.
In the season finale, Michael and Walt were reunited before leaving the island on a boat.
In recent episodes, Michael shocked viewers by murdering two newcomers, Ana Lucia and Libby (Michelle Rodriguez and Cynthia Watros), and leading others into a trap.
When Michael departed the island, he left behind three of the show's most popular characters _ Jack, Kate and Sawyer _ who were being held captive by a mysterious group living on the other side of the island called The Others.
It was not clear whether Michael and Walt were actually going to leave the island and go home (as The Others had instructed them to do) or if they'd go back to their camp to get help.
"I watched the show, and even I was confused," says Perrineau.
"Sometimes what we get in the script is not what we see on the screen."
He says the parting shot of Michael and Walt leaving the island was "very clear" in the script.
"There was no doubt we were ... going home," Perrineau says. "But when I watched it, I thought, 'well, does he get off the island?'
"'Is he going to go out a couple of miles (into the sea) and turn around, come back and get help (for the hostages)?' Come on. Even I was confused by what I saw."
Perrineau says he was "a little confused" when producers told him that Michael was being written off.
"They explained to me how cool it was for someone to actually get off the island," he says. "It is cool, but it's not exactly what I saw in terms of the story." ******************************************************************************** LOST CLUES FOR NEXT SEASON
Can't wait until next fall? Insiders fill Us in on the finale's hints
ATTENTION LOST FANS: DO NOT DELETE THE May 24 finale from TiVo! It contains tip-offs about season three, which "is going to be pretty dramatic." creator JJ Abrams tells Us. Executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse share the evidence with Us.
Did Desmond die? The castaway (Henry Ian Cusick) seemingly martyred himself in the hatch, but "it would be a real shame for him to be dead," says Lindelof. In fact, the 30-second sequence in which he hit the fail safe button "sets up everything to follow in season three" says Cuse.
Where are the Desmond seekers really? The Portuguese-speaking men tracking Desmond appeared to be in a blizzard, but "Portuguese is only spoken in Brazil and Portugal," hints Cuse.
Are The Others the good guys? "Who has killed more people since they went on the island, our guys or The Others?" asks Lindelof.
Did the explosion affect Charlie? The ex-heroin addict (Dominic Monaghan) is unfazed by the hatch explosion, but "comes back changed," says Cuse. SOURCE: US Magazine ____________________________________________________________________________________
From The Q&A with Paul Schuering at TV Guide: TVGuide.com: Are we done with the tattoos? I always felt like they would play an even larger role, that there were parts left unreferenced. Scheuring: Yeah, there's still more stuff for Season 2. Basically the tattoos are the plan, and the plan doesn't end now that they're outside the walls. It goes on until their endgame, which is complete freedom. TVGuide.com: Looking ahead to Season 2 [premiering Aug. 21], are there things you will focus on more, or less? Will it feel like a different show? Scheuring: In a lot of ways it's going to feel like a different series. Obviously, it's all still the exact same story and a continuation of it, but the prison will very quickly regress into the background. We have a new home, which are the roads and small towns and highways of the United States. In that sense, it's going to be a very different show visually, and in terms of feel, but all the characters are the same in terms of their ultimate aspirations.
TVGuide.com: One obvious question is about what's going to keep the guys from going their own separate ways? Scheuring: They are going to go their separate ways; it just wouldn't be realistic for them to cruise around in a scrum together because they're at such odds with each other and they have disparate aims.
TVGuide.com: And some or all of them are after D.B. Cooper's money?
Scheuring: There are some subchapters within Season 2 and a pretty big one is dedicated to that, because a lot of different people need that money for different reasons, which will again put them at odds. TVGuide.com: Another obvious question has to do with Michael and Sara: Where do we go from here? How will you address the need to have scenes of them together but not being able to do that? Scheuring: Well, emotionally Sara's not exactly in a place that necessarily wants to see him — this is all presuming she survives [an intimated season-finale OD]. What ultimately has to happen in Season 2 for them to get together is an emotional reconciliation, where Michael can prove to her that she was not simply a tool to facilitate the escape. At the same time, dominoes need to start falling in her life when she realizes that the antagonists that have Michael under their thumb now have her under their thumb as well. That will give them a common enemy. TVGuide.com: When Robert Knepper (T-bag) dropped by our offices, he said he was dreading the heat. He also said T-bag's No. 1 priority should be getting his hand back. Scheuring: Yeah, that becomes his overriding ambition throughout the season. TVGuide.com: I'm actually talking to Lane Garrison after I hang up with you, but I held off on booking that interview because I wasn't sure Tweener would still be in the picture. Is he? Scheuring: Yeah, absolutely. He has his own ambitions, and he heard about the money when he was in the infirmary that night. He is going to get out there in the world and meet some new people and develop some relationships. TVGuide.com: Did I read or hear somewhere that two major characters are going to die? Scheuring: I don't want to give you a number on that, but people will be surprised within the first third of the year just how many people will pay the price for this escape. We're playing this escape as if it's Pandora's box; in and of itself the escape seems to be an endgame, but they soon realize they've opened up a much larger can of worms than they thought. We're playing for keeps here, and we want to show in very real terms the ramifications. TVGuide.com: Let's talk about William Fichtner's character, FBI agent Mahone. When Invasion was canceled, were you like, "We've got our man"? Scheuring: We were obviously casting a wide net, but when we heard about Fichtner's availability — he's such a high-quality actor, such a "get" — we went after him very aggressively. TVGuide.com: Is it too simplistic to call him the Tommy Lee Jones to Michael and Lincoln's Harrison Ford? Scheuring: That's the obvious comparison, and we want to introduce Fichtner as a straightlaced FBI man, but then his character is going to gain a lot more dimension than that. He's hardly the cut-and-dry FBI man that Tommy Lee Jones was [in The Fugitive]. TVGuide.com: Is Mahone working with or despite Bellick? Scheuring: Well, from the very outset they do not get along, and they will encounter each other again down the road. There is no love between those two men. TVGuide.com: Finding the boys is very personal for Bellick, so he must feel like Mahone is barging in on his vendetta. Scheuring: The problem with Bellick is [the manhunt] leaves his jurisdiction very quickly, and there are also some dominoes that fall in his life and change his entire relationship to the pursuit. But he and Mahone will be thorns in each other's side for the greater part of the season. TVGuide.com: What about flashbacks — are there more stories to tell this season? Scheuring: There will be some, probably not as many as last year. TVGuide.com: Are there any other new characters you can tease? Scheuring: A number of episodes in, [Agent] Kellerman is going to encounter a new face in the conspiracy who is very much a snake in the grass. TVGuide.com: Speaking of the conspiracy, what's the latest wisdom on dealing with the absences of Patricia Wettig (President Reynolds) and John Billingsley (Reynolds' brother), who have each landed other fall series? Scheuring: Well, John Billingsley did a great job last year, but we shot around him because we wanted to keep him cloaked in secrecy, so we brought in Jeff Perry (Crossing Jordan, Meredith's dad on Grey's Anatomy) to replace him, and Jeff did an unbelievable job, so he's our guy now in that regard. It's a seamless transition. With Patricia Wettig, because obviously she's a known face and she played a very significant role in Season 1, we're not going to recast. Our approach to that is kind of what we did with Rockmond Dunbar [who was committed to WB's Head Cases] last year, where we kind of said, "Let's see how that bears out" and we bided our time and all of a sudden C-note shows up again in Episode 8. That's our approach to Patty.
- In a interview Wentworth Miller described Mahone as a "crooked FBI agent" and "[Michael's] heart and mind are still very much back at the prison with Westmoreland and the Warden and, especially, Dr. Sara."
- New recuring character introduced in eps #5, which is called " Map 1213".
Bill Kim, Asian 35ish, agent working for the president. Shows up in Chicago to put some pressure on Kellerman. ___________________________________________________________________________________
******************************************************************************** GREY'S ANATOMY
Die folgenden Spoiler stammen alle vom Englischen Grey's Antomy Spoiler Thread.
******************************************************************************** Description of sides by -Genevieve-: Episode 3.01: Time Has Come Today
Airdate: September 21, 2006
There are new sides out! But of course they're basically useless unless you want a heads up on what kinds of patients are popping up. I think one is a young guy impaled by a tree? He did something stupid according to his dad. And there's someone who is going in for surgery because of siezures and a lack of impulse control (they say everything that they think, thus insulting people left and right). In one side the person's name is Jenn and in another one it's Jerry. It's amusing when "Jerry" starts talking about his male fiancee and the fact that they had great sex. ******************************************************************************** Episode 3.02: TBD
Airdate: September 28, 2006
An authoritative figure blocks one of the doctors from an OR. The doctor needs their keys that they left in there, but the figure says no civilians allowed. Government regulations. A patient in the room tries to tug on their IV but stops when the figure bangs on the door and says to cut it out.
A Dr. Clark tells a patient that the threat has been neutralized and they're free to leave, but have to go on antibiotics. The same Dr. keeps another doctor from leaving saying they have to tell a patient the results of her HIV test.
One of the surgeons has to go identify a body with a funeral home guy so he doesn't take the wrong body. The surgeon asks when the funeral is.
In the trauma room a 47-year-old woman comes in from a car accident. She's talking about dancing, clearly out of it. Her husband tells her she's beautiful.
There's a group of teenage girls and their preppy parents. The girls were missing for an hour and found in the vicinity of where drugs have gone missing. The parents keep arguing about who's child is responsible and bringing up other accusations. One of the parents argues with the doctor, saying they gave the dr permission to test their kid, but the doctor says they can't forcibly stick a needle in the daughter if she doesn't want them to.
Another couple arrives in the ER after a boat hit them while they were suba diving. The husband is put into a decompression chamber. He's disorientated and confused and then breaks down and starts to panic when a doctor tells him that his wife has died after surgery.
******************************************************************************** Airdate: TBD
A couple goes to a bed and breakfast.
There's a 55 year old patient who's had a bunch of surgeries but particiaptes in triahtlons. He's in for another surgery and wants to meet the (dead) guy who's his donor.
A kid comes in after a fall, but ends up having internal bleeding. It's a foster kid with a huge medical file so they're suspicious of the foster parents (thought they seem fine).
A man goes in for brain surgery because he's been having a lot of seizures. It sounds like the case I always read about in my psychology book where they cut the corpus callosum to prevent the hemisphere's of the brain from communicating. The surgery was a little rough. He comes out of it and can't say the words for items in the room or even his wife and baby's names. He knows what things are, and knows the words, but can't make it come out. ******************************************************************************** General Spoilers: - 3.03 - One child's constant visits are noted by a nurse. A patient cancels his surgery and leaves without informing his surprised doctor. Taylor, a patient suffering seizures, undergoes brain surgery with only hesitant support from his wife. But the results, while not fatal, are horrific. Two foster parents are met with suspicion. The staff attempts to show another patient what can result after unneeded surgery. - Question: You never gave us the scoop on Izzy's daughter like you said you would! What's up with that? — Lindsey
- Ausiello: Man, I can't slip anything by you guys! Katherine Heigl played dumb when I grilled her for scoop about her MIA TV daughter, saying, "When is that going to come back into play, right?" Of course, keep in mind that this is the same person who at last January's Golden Globes denied that Denny was returning later in the season. (But I still love you, Kat!).
- Question: As a new reader of your wildly funny and informative columns, I was wondering if I missed the follow-up on Grey's Anatomy that would cover Patrick Dempsey's comments about the shower parody. — Sue
- Ausiello: Man, I can't slip anything by you guys! Here's that bonus Grey's scoopbit (better late than never): Patrick Dempsey told me that he participated in that riotous spoof for one reason and one reason only: ABC bossman Steve McPherson asked him to do it. "We had no choice," he grumbled. "We had to do it." When I asked him how he felt about it getting leaked onto the Web, he clenched his jaw and harrumphed, "They were supposed to not do that." Um, yikes! (courtesy of Ask Ausiello - August 9/06)
- Dempsey is either kidding or wishful-thinking. He already knows "Grey's" will resolve the long-suffering love triangle -- a source of annoyance for many fans -- in the first three episodes of its third season. That's why Dempsey was relieved when last season's finale put McDreamy and Meredith back in the sack. (courtesy of spoilerfix - August 2/06)
- Question: Have you received any confirmation that Eric Dane is returning to Grey's? Or is it just pure speculation? — Donna
- Ausiello: No official confirmation, but there's mounting evidence to suggest that McSteamy will be a major part of Grey's this season. I think I already told you guys that ABC served a special McSteamy martini at its press tour bash. Seems like an odd thing to do if the character weren't coming back. And Shonda Rimes herself admitted in Friday's Grey's-themed Ausiello Report that Dane made a huge splash during his brief, one-episode stint last February. But the most compelling clue comes from a source over at CSI: Miami. My South Beach spy says Dane was originally approached to play Natalia's soon-to-be-introduced shady ex, but Miami producers were informed that he was "unavailable." Rob Estes will now be stalking Eva La Rue instead. Bottom line: McSteamy's McReturning. (courtesy of Ask Ausiello - August 2/06)
- A new, possibly recurring African-American couple is introduced. Joe shakes off a proposition. A patient is caught shoplifting. Another asserts her independence. One doctor's admiration of a gay patient seems out of place. We will see flashbacks featuring a five-year-old Meredith. (courtesy of spoilerfix - July 29/06)
- I'm told that Diahann Carroll (aka Whitley Gilbert's mom on A Different World) is going to be the first new guest star on the show this year. Source: Kristin on E!Online (courtesy of spoilerfix - July 21/06)
- [Chris O'Donnell] is in talks to increase his Season 3 episode order from two to six. Source: Ask Ausiello @ TV Guide (courtesy of spoilerfix - July 1/06)
- Question: I keep hearing rumors that Chris O'Donnell is going to be extending his stay on Grey's Anatomy next season. Is this true? — Eleni
Ausiello: Yeah, that was the part of the multiple-choice Grey's riddle that was true. He's in talks to increase his Season 3 episode order from two to six. And although I made up the stuff about Addison and McSteamy reuniting in the sack and Izzy coming face-to-face with her long-lost daughter during November sweeps, both those things could very well happen. And if they do, I'm going to demand a consulting fee from Ms. Rhimes. (courtesy of Ask Ausiello - June 28/06)
- Question: I know Shonda Rhimes doesn't give even the slightest hints at scoop, but, dude, I need something on Grey's Anatomy. I don't even care if you make it up! — Kim
Ausiello: Chris O'Donnell is in talks to lengthen his stay, Addison will find out about Derek and Meredith's prom-night tryst and run back into McSteamy's arms, and Izzy will come face-to-face with her long-lost daughter just in time for November sweeps. One of these things is true, the other two I made up. (courtesy of Ask Ausiello - June 21/06)
- Question: Now that they've moved on from the story line, which character was supposed to be introduced as bisexual on Grey's Anatomy? — George
Ausiello: I believe it was Cristina. (courtesy of Ask Ausiello - June 15/06)
- Can you clarify how many more episodes Chris O'Donnell will be on next season's Grey's?
First of all, I'm so sorry for all the confusion! I know what I told you earlier is conflicting with some other reports. Here's what I can tell you as of this moment: My source tells me that, initially, they wanted O'Dreamy as a series regular next season, but that is no longer the case. According to this spy, Chris has signed on for two episodes so far for next season, and it is not yet known whether he'll continue beyond that. (courtesy of EOnline - June 6/06)
******************************************************************************** 1) Sara Ramirez (Callie) Series regular...I promise.
2) COD...not so much...two episodes next season...I promise
3) Katherine Heigl definitely returned for season 3...I promise
4) EP being pregnant...still not sure...might be public info before I even find out.
Season 3, get ready for some of the best televison you have ever seen. Network and Studio aren't ****ing around, moving GA to Thursday is a really big deal, ABC has never dominated Thursday, and with GA and Six Degrees this is their chance. All eyes on ABC this fall to see what happens.
