A soundtrack would be awesome! I would be surprised if they didn't.

Since it's a comedy I guess the episodes aren't one hour long, right? So I wonder how many songs per episode we'll have

Yeah, it's a half hour show. They plan to show two episodes a night in place of Once when that show goes into hiatus.

I wonder about the song count as well.

So, in the end, will always be a one hour thing, with two episodes in a row.

Smash was a one hour show and had at least three songs each episodes. It could happen there were more, but they were rarely full songs (the pilot had 6 songs, but only three were full), so the full ones were always three. But it was a different genre too, so

It makes you wonder why they didn't just make it a full hour since they're going to play them back to back anyway.

Yeah, it a bit different because the songs for Smash was for a play while this show is the play in a sense, so it more likely you would hear the whole song instead of only part of it.

Thanks for the links. This is so different from anything on TV right now - can't wait!

You're welcome. Agree and I've always wanted to see a musical, musical series on television.

I guess only dramas can be one hour long, not comedies maybe, if we have a second season, the schedule will be different (not during the OUAT hiatus) and they'll have time to air one episode a week, instead of two.

Not all the songs were for the musicals (sorry, not to be annoying but a musical is not a play ), it had cover songs too and most of the times the songs were full. Three songs for each episode were full (covers or originals), if there were more they could be reprises or shortened versions.
But I get what you mean

There was Smash

I don't think they're going to change the date and time for the show because they don't want to make the same mistake with this show that they did with Once Upon A Time In Wonderland.

That's why I said in a sense not exactly, but when I was looking on-line people do call them, at least the stage performances, musical plays sometimes. I was trying to find a way to explain the difference between the two shows. As far as I can see the characters in Galavant aren't self aware that they're singing like Smash.

We're going to have to agree to disagree on that one. I never thought of Smash as musical, musical. Watched it in the first season. A musical, yes, but I see it being more in the vain of Glee. They also had a number here and there where they sang a song that didn't have to do with Glee numbers. A musical, musical to me is like Oklahoma, and any of those types.

In some way it's like in real musicals: characters start singing but it's their way to show their emotions (for them it's like talking). In Smash that happened when they were doing Bombshell or Hit List musical numbers

I see so you can't consider it a 'musical, musical' because it wasn't an all-sung show, like Oklahoma or any other theatre musical/musical movie, right?

Pretty much agree.

Yes, but that's just how I feel about it. Who knows maybe I'm wrong about it. lol That's what I grew up on.

Enjoyed that. This may be the perfect tone during the Christmas recess and in-between all the high tearful angst the Fall shows will most likely leave us on a cliffhanger.

Can't wait.

Oh, for me if there are songs it's enough (but I don't like Glee) and I grew up with "classic" theatre musicals

Thanks for the pics! I wonder...do you think there will be some romantic stuff between Galavant and Isabella, at some point? And Madalena will be jelous?

Glee was really good in it's first thirteen episodes then it went down hill. Stopped watching it loooong time ago.

Yeah, I do think there will be a romance between Galavant and Isabella. As for Madalena getting jealous...hmm, I'm not sure. What I've seen of the show so far, with that huge clip, I don't get the feeling she would be jealous unless she doesn't like having less attention on her. I could be wrong, but that's my feeling on the both things at the moment. What about you?

This. Obviously I think about a "comedy" jelousy, not the one we tipically see on drama shows. So not a jelousy full of angst, but some lighter and funnier one, like her being visibly annoyed bu the fact that Galavant has feelings for another woman. She liked to have all Galavant attentions, before the King arrived, so...

PS: do you think we should start a Campaign for a Galavant board? I'm not a big fan of campaigning, after Smash one (it was insane, I did mostly everything including sending MPs to every supporter every month to have votes and it took more than a year anyway to have it...).
