She's recurring though, which I find really dumb because that means she doesn't have to be available to them for the whole season and suggests she's not in every episode. If she's not in every episode does that mean Brett's going to be stuck with annoying personal drama?

CHICAGO FIRE The departure of Gabby Dawson (exiting series regular Monica Raymund) blurs hubby Casey’s focus so much in the season opener “that it might be affecting him on a fire call,” showrunner Derek Haas previews. But it’s not just the captain who is impacted by Dawson’s absence. Stella, too, will feel the loss, while Brett — who is struggling with “unresolved feelings” from her big fight with her partner — “isn’t too quick to embrace” new paramedic Emily Foster (Arrow‘s Annie Ilonzeh). The first part of Season 7 also finds Firehouse 51 “under the eye” of new CFD commissioner Grissom, who is “looking for any mistake.” Elsewhere, Stella and Severide are still going strong, Cruz gets a new love interest and Herrmann is facing “big changes” in his life. BONUS SPOILER!: The Oct. 3 crossover with Chicago Med and Chicago P.D. “focuses on the biggest, nastiest fire we’ve ever done,” Haas shares. The incident centers around “a residence tower fire, above the 20th floor of a skyscraper downtown, with all three shows coming together to save as many residents as possible and, ultimately, to hunt down the person or persons responsible for the tragedy.”

Chicago Fire Yes, Monica Raymund’s shocking absence from the show will be approached right away, cocreator Derek Haas tells Us. Casey (Jesse Spencer) will be feeling a mixture of emotions that mirror what the audience went through when Raymund announced she was leaving the show – “frustration, disappointment, anger and unresolved feelings,” Haas tells Us. “There’s going to be talk of how quick she left and how long it’s been and what is happening.”Dawson's departure will also have a large impact on Brett (Kara Killmer) who is a bit lost with her partner gone. “She probably regrets about the way it all went down so it’s awkward for her,” Haas adds. Ausiello: If scheduling allows, showrunner Derek Haas plans to not only bring back Severide’s father and mother (played by Treat Williams and Kim Delaney), but also the firefighter’s half-sister Katie (Brittany Curran), who last appeared on the show in 2014. “We’re doing that dance with casting and her schedule on The Magicians,” Haas says. “But I talked to Brittany — she wants to do it. We’re really hoping that it will work out. She’s in the script.”
