I think you are probably right. He's not going to have major brain surgery and then go play in the children's ward with April. Even in television land that doesn't happen. Unless those scenes are him dreaming while he's getting the surgery. That's the only other explanation that makes sense.

I can't believe he changed his mind about the surgery so quickly though. He left that voicemail for April the episode after the one where he was like no surgery, my mind's made up and I'm not friggin changing it ever. He was like 100% decided against the surgery with so much conviction and certainty. And this was after getting closer with April and obviously developing feelings for her. So one emotional moment with April in the hospital later and he changed his unwavering completely made up mind. It's almost a little too contrived. Don't get me wrong I'm glad he's fighting to live, I just don't understand the point of his my mind's made up nothing's going to change it not even you conversation with April if he was going to change his mind one episode later. I'm probably overthinking things, I just didn't expect him to change his mind so quickly after that very serious conversation about such a serious matter. But hey anything that keeps him around, I won't complain about, lol.

I think those are before the surgery too.

And I actually understand where you're coming from. When the summer finale first aired, I really didn't think he was calling to tell her he's getting the surgery just because like you said, it was too soon. It wasn't until those stills came out that I started thinking about it and I thought that maybe that last scene when he was escorting her back got him to change his mind because she told him she was scared he wasn't going to be there when she got out and he realized he did want more time with her.

This is an excellent point. I do think April really opened his eyes...and maybe realizing someone else wanted him and needed him around is all he ever really wanted in the first place?

I feel like he never really had anything to live for as bad as that sounds. His family was always too busy and never really cared about him. But April needing him, wanting him around he maybe realized there was more to life then what he thought before.

Now I don't think that puts Leo/April together though.

Okay December 9th needs to get here like right now.

No I agree about that, I was just thinking of the scene where he told April that before he got sick, while he was in Paris, he used to think of "all the things he was going to do with his life" that were gone when he had to go home. Those did not give a reason to risk the surgery ... but now April needing him did.
