After watching this week's episode and KBex saying goodbye to her apt. and not being too happy about the comments Castle made about her place, I'm starting to think that when she goes to live permanently at the loft she may not feel like it's her home. Almost everything will still feel like it is his place and not "their" place. She's lived on her own and had her own things, her own way for probably 10 years or more, it's different when you're staying over a few(or more) nights a week than when you are actually living there all the time. So I think that might be the "game changer". Castle may have to decide to move to a place that is more suited to them as a couple or significantly renovate to accommodate Kate and if this is the case it will also have repercussions involving Martha and Alexis.
