Mark Schwahn, May 2nd - '07
"I think basketball is the backdrop of this show, it’s sort of our home base. The show is never about basketball but I just think that that suit the brothers were in and it feels like that will still be a player if we jump ahead. As will the music storyline with Haley and Peyton, the fashion storyline with Brooke, because I feel like…you know, I have a room full of writers who see this as the chance to rewrite a pilot and rewrite a show with characters that the audience is familiar with. And while that’s certainly true, I do think that there has to be some certain familiarity with the world because you’re taking this big leap ahead. But I think the characters, they could have strayed and then certainly one or two of them will be ghastly different than who we knew them as in high school but there also has to be an anchor to the world. There has to be something that is familiar to the audience and I think that we’ll see that with some of the characters as well."

Sophia Bush, June 7th - '07
"I'm home now, getting ready to go back to Wilmington in a few weeks to start season 5. It’s going to be really fun. We’ve got really interesting things coming up for this one so I think it will be even more fun than 4."

Chad Michael Murray, June 12th - '07
"We're aging four years and I'm still four years older than my character. At this point, I know Lucas has put out a book. It's been semi-successful. Everybody's awaiting the release of his second book, but he's having a difficulty, kinda being honest with himself. And I think he needs to come back to Tree Hill and figure that out amongest his friends before he hurts anybody or does anything improper. That's my belief. And I know that he's now going to be the coach of the Ravens and he will mentor an 18 year old kid who's probably on the wrong side of the tracks. That's all I know right now, we start filiming on the 18th of July."

In a strategy designed to give producers time to make a significant creative change, the hit drama ONE TREE HILL will be held until midseason. When it returns, the story will have advanced four years and the characters will have already graduated from college. Online digital diaries will premiere in the fall, allowing fans to learn what happened during the college years, and will lead into the midseason series return.

Due to the fact of a midseason premiere for our show meaning it will most likely return early 2008 we’re going to be swamped with spoilers for the filmed episodes. We’ve already have a massive amount of pictures, sides/dialogues and other spoilers so we’ve decided to make an entirely livejournal called the Brucas League LJ dedicated to Brooke & Lucas spoilers and all other related material.

For now all the sides and photos we have gotten so far and will in the future will be posted on our livejournal to keep this opening from not getting to hard to read.

{Visit the Brucas League LJ}
All sides and photos can be found here.

All I've heard about Lucas and a 'new girl' - is that there is a fun and flirtatious relationship - but I don't know if that is to mean that they are friends or business associates who flirt, or are actually involved. From what I know L/P ended as a result of following different paths and that they drifted apart and just went their separate ways.

I think, unfortunately, that both L/P and B/L fans will get bones most of the season and that it won't be until much later in the season that Lucas actually ends up with either of them. Specifically, the first storyline arc does not apparently include any L/P or B/L actually together but does give certain 'hope' for each ship in the form of something Lucas relays in a discussion (this may be a voiceover not an actual discussion that isn't clear). Lucas has a sort of 'speech'. I am unclear on if it is a discussion he is having or a voiceover. I think it's for ep. 2 but these are early days. Regardless, neither Brooke nor Peyton are aware of it and he is not leading them on. Lucas essentially acknowledges his feelings (past tense) for each of them, thus why I said it will give hope to each fanbase.

There is apparently reference to Brooke having had one love 'many years ago'. It is definitely Lucas. It's in the outline specifically and comes up after Brooke is asked a question. There is a hesitation (in the outline this hesitation is specified as her thinking of Lucas - whether or not a flashback would accompany this or it would be left to speculate about is unclear) Her answer to this question indicates that Yes, there was this one guy she loved.

They do all meet up at the Rivercourt 4 years later (as foreshadowed in the finale) but I don't yet know the reason.

Videos
We decided that we wanted something a little bit different than just random BL videos for this thread. We could call it "manipulation" videos that gave a chance to bring out something from a scene that didn't show on screen but could have been thoughts from either Brooke or Lucas in that moment.

For the 200th, we decided to not have any fan fiction recommendations. So our dear friend and regular poster here on the thread Cheyenne, who also happens to be one of the most talented fan fiction writers out there got asked to write the one and only future Brooke & Lucas one-shot which incorporates the theme of this thread, which is Brooke’s red door. Below is the full story in all it's glory. Enjoy!

The Red Door
Written by: Cheyenne

The trees were in full bloom, blue and pink streamers hanging from the lower branches and some thrown TP style over the top. Balloons lined the patio, tied to every wooden post and taped to the backs of chairs in pairs. She took deep breaths, trying to put her stomach at ease as she scanned the back yard, her eyes finding the dark haired boy who was already a little taller than the rest. Her eyes locked with blue and the boy’s face lit up as he ran towards her. “Aunt Brookie!”

A smile now graced her face, a genuine one, not the kind she wore on a daily basis. She lifted the boy off the ground, hugging him tight. “Jamie! Happy birthday!” She moved him to her hip, pulling back so she could see his face better. “When did you loose those two front teeth mister?”

Jamie smiled proudly, showcasing the gap between his teeth. “Uncle Luke knocked them out when he passed me the basketball this morning.”

Brooke chuckled lightly. “Oh, that’s wonderful,” she said with fake enthusiasm. She would never understand little boys. She lowered James back down and instead of running back off to the group of children in the yard, he ran behind her and into the arms of his god father.

He picked up James like she had just picked him up and when he glanced out at the yard, the first thing his blue eyes hit was her. She stood there with her hands clasped together, her arms at her side stiffly, looking uncomfortable. Her gaze was cast down on the grass and before he could even react to her actually being there, she was already walking away.

“Aunt Brookie looks pretty huh?” Lucas sighed and nodded. She really did. Her brown locks were pulled back into a clip, a few strands framing her face. Her white dress flowed behind her and he remembered how she would always say that she looked horrible in white because it made her look extremely pale. But as she walked away he thought she looked perfect, her creamy skin looking even softer in the dress.

“Your Aunt Brooke looks gorgeous,” he mumbled underneath his breath once he set the boy down. “So where is your mom?”

James pointed to where Brooke was now standing chatting animatedly with Haley. He sighed once more before walking over to the two women. Haley hugged him once he reached them, standing on her tiptoes in order to whisper in his ear. “Be nice to her.”

“Hey Brooke,” Lucas said once he had pulled out of the hug with Haley. He wore a fake smile on his face, and she smiled back with one of equal fakeness. “I’m surprised to see you here.”

“Where else would I be,” she replied, looking at everyone in the yard instead of looking at him.

He shrugged. “I don’t know. Maybe where ever you’ve been the past 3 years for his birthday because we all know it wasn’t here.”

Her shoulders dropped and she let out a snide laugh. “Wow, that was what? A minute before you started tearing in to me?” He shrugged again and she sighed, covering her face with her hands before taking a deep breath. “Look, can we please just be civil to one another? I don’t want to fight with you. Especially on Jamie’s birthday.”

Haley had left after the initial ‘Hey’ and it was just the two of them standing with people all around them, stopping a scene from being made. She was tired of the constant bickering between them. In high school they were fine. They were able to coexist and be friendly. But then, she had no connection with anyone for a few years and suddenly she was as bad as Dan.

“I’m sorry for not keeping in contact but can you really blame me?” He stood their silently, trying to be mad at her. He knew that it was his fault that she’d ignored Tree Hill for as long as she did and she seemed to truly mean her apology even though she didn’t have to say she was sorry.

He never could stay mad at her for long but when he remembered everything that had happened on James’ and Lily’s first birthday, his anger bubbled up. “Whatever. So, what’s it like to become your parents?” He walked away without further acknowledgment, leaving Brooke alone in the grassy backyard.

“Unbelievable,” she scoffed before Haley came back up to her with a smile.

“So how’d it go?” Brooke gave her a look and Haley’s smile dropped. “Not good I guess.”

“No it went very bad! I apologized to the ******* and he blew me off.” Haley rolled her eyes. Brooke had never been one to apologize, especially when she wasn’t necessarily in the wrong. “Don’t roll your eyes at me. I was sincere.”

Haley sighed and shook her head, her eyes landing on Lucas who was chatting with Nathan by the barbecue. “You just need to give him space.” She heard Brooke snort next to her. “What?”

“Give him space?” What, the last three years weren’t long enough?” Brooke walked away, shaking her head. If Lucas wasn’t man enough to put it past them then he was no longer the Lucas she used to know.

---------------------

Everyone gathered around the three long tables that were filled with food. Haley and Karen had gone all out with the food. If it had ever been served at a summer party it was on one of the tables. There were five different types of salads: potato, macaroni, fruit, egg, and garden. There were hamburgers, hot dogs, turkey burgers, and ribs along with every chip imaginable.

“Brooke, can you please help me with my plate?” Brooke looked down where she found Lily tugging on her dress, an empty plate in her hands.

“Of course birthday girl,” Brooke replied sweetly, straightening out the plastic rhinestone crown that was nestled in the girl’s curls. As Brooke helped Lily with her plate, Lucas watched them interact. Everyone had told Lily stories about Brooke but the little girl had no recollection of meeting her considering she was one the last time Brooke had seen her. It seemed odd that Lily would ask Brooke when he was right behind her.

He shrugged his shoulders, letting it go and helping himself to the food, noticing that they were approaching the five different salads. Lily had been talking to Brooke the whole time and she seemed to be really interested in the life of his 4 year old sister. He stood patiently, waiting for the spoon that Brooke was using to spoon macaroni salad on to Lily’s plate.

Without hesitation Brooke put the spoon back into the bowl, getting a big scoop and putting in on Lucas’ plate. Both stopped and blinked before looking at one another. “Sorry, habit I guess,” Brooke replied, almost embarrassed by what she did even though it was no big deal.

“Thanks.” For a second, she thought that maybe things were okay, or at least a little bit. “I could’ve done it myself though.” She sighed and shook her head, giving up. She had been nice during the whole party and if he couldn’t say two kind words to her then to hell with him.

“Brooke! Lucas! Before you eat can I get a few pictures of the two of you with James?” She only had three photos of Brooke and Lucas with James. One was when James was only a day old and Lucas blinked. The next picture was when they first brought James home and neither Brooke nor Lucas were looking at the camera. Instead, Brooke was talking to someone who hadn’t been captured in the picture and Lucas had his eyes on Brooke. The last one was taken on James’ first birthday and Brooke was wearing a clearly fake smile while Lucas just looked plain pissed.

The godparents groaned, both of them setting their plates down on their chairs. They made their way over to Haley who was standing in front of the large tree with James. “But Mom, I want to eat now,” James whined as Haley just rolled her eyes, cleaning some dirt off of her son’s cheek.

“Yeah, we want to eat too,” Lucas whined as well.

“Well if you guys would just cooperate then we can get this done quickly and you can eat!” The three groaned together, Brooke and Lucas standing next to one another, James standing in front of them. All three stood with blank expressions on their face, waiting for Haley to press the button. “Can you please look like you like each other?”

“I like Uncle Luke and Aunt Brookie,” James piped in and Haley nodded her head.

“I know you do. So smile. Please?” Lucas rolled his eyes as Brooke picked up James, placing a small dimpled smile on her face. Looking over at Brooke and James, Lucas too was also able to put a smile on his face and wrapped an arm around Brooke’s shoulders. Haley snapped the picture, satisfied. “See? Was that really so hard,” Haley asked, noticing Lily near by. “Lily! Come take a picture!”

“Haley, we took your pictures with James! Let us go and eat!”

“All I’m asking for is one more with Lily,” Haley said as Lily approached them. “Honey go get with them so I can take a picture.” Lily nodded and ran up to her brother, laughing as he lifted her high into the air before settling her on his side. “James smile,” Haley instructed quickly before snapping yet another picture. “Okay, you can eat now.”

“Finally,” James sighed, running towards Nathan who had his plate of food.

-----------------------

“Oh Lucas,” Karen said warmly as Lucas walked into the kitchen. “I didn’t know you were going to stop by.”

Lucas smiled and gave his mother a hug and a kiss on the cheek. “Figured I’d say goodnight to the birthday girl. Where is she?”

“In her room. She just laid down so she should still be awake.”

Lucas walked down the hallway and opened the door that once led to his room. Now, the walls were pink with flowers along the border and was filled with small white furniture. His little sister laid in-between pink sheets, her dark hair sprawled out across the matching pink pillow case. She looked up from the book she had received for her birthday and saw Lucas standing in the doorway. “Lucas!” She made an effort to jump out of bed but Lucas stopped her, motioning for her to lay down.

“Time to stay in bed.” She nodded, lying her head back down on the pillow, a small yawn escaping her mouth. She scooted over, making room for Lucas to sit down on the bed next to her. “So, did you have fun today?” The small girl nodded sleepily. “What was your favorite present?”

“The doll house I got.”

“It is a very nice dollhouse,” Lucas said, glancing over at the Barbie doll house Deb had given the girl. It was simple, pink with white shutters and inside there were two rooms, a kitchen and bedroom. “You’ll have to make sure you thank Deb.”

Lily shook her head. “Not that doll house. The one with the red door.” She pointed to her dresser where the large white dollhouse with blue shutters and a red door laid. “That one is so pretty and big. It has FIVE bedrooms Lucas! FIVE,” Lily exclaimed, holding up her hand for added emphasis.

Lucas laughed lightly nodding his head. He took his eyes off Lily and once again placed them on the doll house across the room. The red door always caught his eye, grabbing is attention off of anything else he’d try to be focussing on. But, his eyes were always lead their first, naturally of course, due to the brightness of the color. He was pulled out of his thoughts by his sister patting him on his shoulder. “Yeah Lil?”

“Can you tell me a story Lucas?”

“Of course. As a matter of fact, I have a pretty awesome story about that dollhouse.” Lily’s eyes got wide, and she nodded, snuggling into her bed. “Okay, well once upon a time.” He noticed Lily roll her eyes. Even a four year old already realized the over use of those four words. “There used to be a very pretty girl who used to live in a house that looked exactly like that doll house.”

“Was she a princess?”

Lucas paused, and thought. “She’s wasn’t a royal princess but she was beautiful and rich and nice and smart like a princess.” Lily nodded, yawning as Lucas continued. “But the pretty girl’s parents were never home and she got very lonely.”

“Is this where the prince comes in?” Lucas nodded. “Does he look like Prince Philip?” Lucas stayed silent and Lily rolled her eyes. “From Sleeping Beauty, duh.”

Lucas smiled a little, still not sure who she was talking about. “Sure.” He was about to continue the story but was cut off once again by Lily.

“What does the princess look like?”

“Well, she has dark brown hair, kinda like yours. She has these mesmerizing green eyes and these gorgeous dimples.”

“She sounds like Brooke.”

“Sure does huh?” He noticed Lily open her mouth once more. “Lily, do you want to tell yourself the story?” She shook her head. “Then let me finish. Now, one day, this boy was walking in front of the house when he heard the princess crying. So, being the kind of person he was, he went up to the princess and asked her what was wrong. Now, the princess wasn’t very trusting of new people which was part of the reason why she was so alone. But there was something about the boy that made her take a chance on him. So the pretty girl told him about her parents and how she was alone in that big old house and the boy promised to stay with her until her parents returned. And as they spent more and more time together, they both began to have feelings for one another. So when the girl’s parents returned, she didn’t know what to do. She loved her house but she also loved the boy and she could only choose one.”

“And she chose the prince,” Lily asked sleepily, her eyes almost closed.

“And they lived happily ever after.” He leaned forward and gave Lily a kiss on the forehead before turning out the light in the room, tiptoeing out quietly. “Hey Ma, I’m gonna get going. There’s something I have to go do.” He quickly hugged his mother before getting into his car and pulling out his cell phone.

“Hello?”

“Haley, do you know where Brooke’s staying?”

---------------------

“What went wrong with us?” He sounded out of breath, like he’d just run a marathon and he looked slightly disheveled, with a light shine of sweat on his forehead. She had no clue as to how he figured out where she was staying, the thought of Haley never entering her mind, and why he decided to come at 10 o’clock at night.

She stuttered, not sure what to say, unsure of how to respond. She wanted to ask him how he found her and why he was here. She wanted to ask why he was asking her this when the answer was obvious. She pulled her robe a little tighter around her waist, crossing her arms underneath her chest. “What?” Was the one thing she had managed to get out of her mouth.

“We were good. We were great,” he said almost pleadingly, like he was trying to convince her it was the truth. She shook her head and closed her eyes as she bowed her head. She let out a deep breath before looking back up at him.

“We were never great. We were barely even good.” It was his turn to shake his head because he knew it wasn’t true, it couldn’t be true.

“We had to be Brooke. I’ve never fought for someone as much as I fought for you. I never loved anyone as much as I loved you.”

She took in a good whiff of the air, making sure she didn’t smell any alcohol. When she found no traces of any, that he as here telling her all these things completely sober, she stood up straight. “Why are you here?” She was choosing to ignore everything that he’d said because maybe it was al just some joke.

“Because I honestly haven’t been able to stop thinking about you since you walked out of my bedroom three years ago.” Her features softened only slightly. She still had the tired look on her face, the look that was there because she was tired of having this conversation.

“Lucas, that’s not the case and you know it. If it was me that you loved,” she started, walking towards him causing him to back up.

“Love,” he piped in and she rolled her eyes.

“Loved then you wouldn’t have gotten back together with Peyton when you could have had me,” she finished, poking him in his chest. They were now in the middle of the plain hotel hallway, the only thing surrounding them was the distant ding of the elevator and unsettling silence.

“That was the third biggest mistake of my life Brooke. Do you realize that the only things I truly regret are the times I let you go? Did you even read my book?” He threw questions at her, hoping that one of them would help her realize that this was it. This was their time to shine. They weren’t in high school any more, they were adults, out in the real world. They spent time apart, letting them see what else was out there and as far as he was concerned, she was it. She was the best there was.

“Yeah, okay, at James’ and Lily’s first birthday I chose Peyton. We had broken up because we were going separate ways and that isn’t a valid reason to break up. Had I not given it an actual try with her you’d still have your doubts.” She opened her mouth to protest, taking her eyes off the tan checkered carpet for the first time since she had finished talking. “No, Brooke, you know you would’ve because both you and I know what me and Peyton had in high school was nothing.”

She couldn’t exactly argue with that. “What took you three years? Obviously things were good with Peyton. And who knows? Maybe if Jake hadn’t come back into the picture you’d still be with her!” She needed to know that this was it. That he was going to pull through and be the man she always knew he could be. That he was still feeling her because in the two nights she’d been in town she’d realized that she was still in love with him

He sighed dramatically, throwing his hands up in frustration. “Why don’t you get it!? You’re the red door Brooke!”

Her brow furrowed and one eyebrow arched in confusion, her nose bunching up in a way he’d always found adorable. “I’m a door?”

“Yes! Peyton, she’s the house. She’s the plain blue shutters, the crappy gray shingles, the plain white paint. You always want to look at the house but my attention always goes back to the bright and beautiful red door! Nobody can stop looking at the door and even when they do, it’s always there in the corner of your eye. You’re my red door Brooke! At graduation, there were tons of people and you know who I found first? You! It is and always will be you.”

Her features softened completely and a small smile found it’s way on to her flawless face, her dimples barely showing through. He looked straight into her eye and saw that what had been there before was gone. Her walls were down and she was ready to take the plunge once more. Suddenly, the distant ping of the elevator was joined by someone clearing their throat. “Are you going to kiss him now or is he going to yell more?” The two blushed at the older woman who was standing in the doorway of her hotel room.

“Sorry,” Brooke mumbled, pulling Lucas back into her hotel room. She shut the door and turned around to see him standing there, his hands shoved into his jean pockets. Slowly, she made her way up to him and placed a hand on the back of his neck, bringing it down slightly so that their lips met once she got on her tiptoes.

“Auntie Brooke! When did you get here?”

She smiled softly and tousled the boys hair, something he’d come to hate as he got older. “I’ve been here for a bit now but you were too busy in the bounce house.” She moved the baby she was holding into her lap as Jamie plopped down next to her.

“Ugh, I hate when Aunt Taylor comes now.”

“Why,” Brooke asked, glancing down at the baby in her lap that was all smiles.

“Because now she has to bring that smelly thing,” James said pointing to the infant on Brooke’s lap. Brooke let out a laugh, one of the big belly laughs she acquired right around the time James and Lily was born.

Hearing her laugh, Lucas turned his attention away from his mother to follow the sound and placed his eyes on Brooke. He took a sip of his beer as he heard his mother say “So, are there any wedding plans for you two yet?”

Chocking on the cool brown liquid, he turned to look at his mom. “What?” She shrugged as if to say it was okay for her to start asking. They’d gotten back together two years ago and they had history. Plus with the way they talked about each other, Karen figured it wouldn’t be long. He shook his head. “Brooke and I’ve talked about it. Neither of us want to get married for a while. Maybe in a few more years but not now.”

He could’ve sworn that her mother started pouting, one that Lily had definatly gotten from her. Shaking his head, Lucas walked away from his mom and over to Brooke and James, handing Brooke the soda he’d gotten her. “What’s so funny?”

Brooke and James glanced at each other before looking back at Lucas. “Nothing,” they replied in unison.

Lucas eyed them suspiciously before taking the seat on the other side of Brooke. “So, how does it feel to be 6?”

James shrugged. “Feels like 5 still.” With that, James saw Lily wave him over back to the bounce house and he was off.

Lucas watched James run off before returning his attention back to Brooke who was babbling to the 6 month old in her lap. He smiled and she looked up at him, a smile on her face as well. “How’d you feel about having one of these,” Lucas asked as he held out his finger, the baby latching on to it.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw her shrug but there was still a smile on her face. “It’d be kinda cool.” She returned her attention back to the baby in her lap, talking to him as if he was a real person who could understand coherent thought.

An hour later Brooke had handed the baby back to Taylor and walked over to the food tables, grabbing plates for her and Lucas. Just as they were about to sit down, they heard Haley calling. “Brooke! Lucas! Come take pictures!”

“Why do you even let us get our plates Haley? You do this every year,” Brooke whined as she stomped her way over to the tree where they always took the pictures. Lucas followed behind her, laughing at his girlfriend’s antics but agreeing with her none the less.

“Will you stop it? You’re as bad as Jamie and Lily.” The two children her standing next to the tree looking as fed up as Brooke and Lucas.

“Had I known this was part of the job I never would’ve agreed to be his godmother,” Brooke said as she held her arms open to pick up James. He simply stared up at her with a scared look. “I’m just kidding Jamie.” He nodded and went into Brooke’s arms, sliding onto her hip.

“I think this is going to be the last year I can do this,” Brooke laughed and glanced over at Lucas who had Lily on his hip as well. Haley cursed at her camera that had suddenly decided to stop working. “Oh and by the way,” Brooke began, scooting closer to Lucas. “I’m pregnant.”

High school has come and gone, college flew by and now as we enter Season 5 Brooke and Lucas are about to reunite. You could describe this soundtrack as a new journey, and new challenge. But the way we see it...
... It’s just the beginning.

Love is always a good thing no matter how much it hurts. Even after it’s over, even through the pain, anyone who has ever really loved will tell you that they never regretted a second of it, no matter how much it hurt in the end. And if you tell me differently, I will tell you that you were not truly in love.

Maybe now they weren’t meant to be, and a little later on they will be. Only because it is impossible to believe that they could have these kind of feelings for one another. And not be in each others lives forever.

If its real, if its true love, then it'll always be there. You can pretend its gone, and you could even move on.
But that love, it's still there. In the depths of your mind, sometimes a single object or song triggers it all.
And your right back where you started.
In the arms of the one you lost.

Hope. It sustains us when nothing else can. It gives us reason to continue and courage to move ahead. Even when we tell ourselves we'd rather give in.

Do you want to know something really subversive? Maybe love is everything it's cracked up to be. That's why people are so cynical about it, you know? It really is worth fighting for, being brave for, risking everything for. And the thing is, if you don't risk anything... you risk even more.

The act of writing, is for me, often nothing more than the secret or conscious desire to carve words on a piece of paper: to the memory of a town forever vanished, to the memory of a childhood in exile, to the memory of all those I loved and who, before I could tell them I loved them, went away.

When you run into love and it seems like some psychedelic mystery, look at it again, and again, and keep looking it until you realize the only mystery is how you've gotten by so long without it.

It’s when the tiny details about another person make you smile. It’s the little things , the little things that seem insignificant to most people. But to you , it means everything.

Love is a very funny thing. It is an intensely personal yet universal thing. It has a thousand definitions, and not one of them gets it exactly right. It is a feeling. It is an experience. It is inside of us and yet indescribable. We desire it yet fear it.
We carry it with us everywhere we go. It is the central experience of our lives, and yet it remains a mystery.

Maybe they're too afraid to continue what they have, because they know something's there, they feel it just as much as we do. When they touch. When they kiss. Maybe they’re just pulling away now because they know that if they don't pull away soon they might find themselves falling in love and I don't think they are prepared for that.

And no relationship is perfect, ever. There are always some ways you have to bend, to compromise, to give something up in order to gain something greater.

I'd heard love could be this immediate, this trouble-free. I'd read books in which love came to a person so fast, so powerfully. But I never dreamed it could happen to me. Love had always been hard for me. I admit it. I held back. And now, finally, I don't want to anymore.

The love that Brooke and Lucas have for each other is bigger than these small differences. And that’s the key.
Love can make up for a lot.

All these songs, they tell a story. From breaking up, to letting go, to realizations and fighting. And then finally - giving into love. Some might say this is a journey, but I don‘t see it that way. You see it isn’t about picking up where Brooke and Lucas left off and having that love stay intact. Love is living your own life, but willing to share it. Love is forgiveness, its making a million mistakes and turning them into learning experiences. Love is patience, optimism. When you are listening to these songs, take in the meaning of the lyrics. It’s not just words of happiness and heartache. It’s words of living and of loving.
It’s a chance for new beginnings.

Often associated with fire and blood, red is a color that is often associated with intensity, energy, power, determination, strength, passion, love and d e s i r e.

In Japanese culture, it is the color of the hero, and in Russia, the color of beauty.
Images that are romantic, sexual or erotic in nature often include vibrant reds- red lips, red nails, red clothing.
Even the bars identifying NC-17 movies are red. Like the blood running through our bodies, red is the color of life force, the color of determination and will to survive. It’s a lively color, bright and vibrant and bold. The warmest color in existence, there’s a reason for phrases like “red hot.”
It provokes intense, quick reactions, grabbing the attention of all around.

Red is the color of our hearts, of love and desire. It’s shades of reds- crimson, magenta, pink- that represent the holiday of love, Saint Valentine’s Day. It’s the color of kisses and erotica, romance and passion. It’s the color of heat and attraction, the color that rises to one’s cheeks when aroused.
Red is the color used to draw attention to something, to force a quick decision and to illicit a reaction, to push someone out of their comfort zone. It’s the color of opportunity, of chance, of life and love. A fitting color for Brooke and Lucas, don’t you think?

As Lucas pulls his car up to Brooke’s house, the first thing we see, before the car even comes into view, is her front door.
The crimson stands out against the white around it, light illuminating the door while the rest of the house fades into the background, a focal point.
The uncomfortable silence in the car as they pull up is overwhelming, and even as the car pulls to a stop in front of the house, the red door is still visible in the background, a beacon of hope in a depressing moment. When Lucas tells Brooke not to go, it’s like he’s unable to keep it in- the prospect of losing Brooke is too much for him to handle.

There’s nothing she can say in that moment, nothing either of them can say, to fully measure the loss both would feel if Brooke were to move, if they were torn apart right as they finally become friends again. Brooke’s “I really liked being the girl behind the red door” is so much deeper than it first appears-it isn’t really about the door, but it’s about Brooke, her life in Tree Hill.

The red door signifies her unique position in the town, and her position behind the door is something no one can ever fill, especially not in Lucas’ eyes. The girl behind the red door represents so much to both of them in that moment- it encompasses everything about the girl Lucas fell in love with´, from her quirky smile to the way she looks at him, to the way she feels in his arms and the way they can have full conversations without ever opening their mouths. The red door, in that moment, is Brooke- it’s the personification of everything Lucas has come to love about her, faults and all.

As their eyes meet, there’s nothing left to say for either of them- the prospect of losing the girl behind that door is too much for either to handle. Brooke seems aware that if she leaves Tree Hill, she’ll lose that girl as well, that she won’t be the same person if the things that make her who she is- mainly Lucas- are gone.

Both are h e a r t b r o k e n and teary eyed, unable to find the words they both need to say.

It’s almost impossible for Lucas to think of just one thing he’ll miss about Brooke. It’s hard to explain to her how he’ll miss everything- he’ll miss the way she laughs when she shouldn’t, the way she glances at him out of the corner of her eyes, the way she’s hesitant to let anyone in, even her insecurities. She’s his Brooke, and there’s nothing about her he could imagine not loving. It’s fitting, really, that he doesn’t have to answer until they’ve stopped on the porch outside his room, and you can see the door painted red in the background. When he says “I’ll miss the girl behind the red door,” there’s no doubting the significance of the moment.

The way their eyes c o n n e c t, the way he remembered what she said word for word, and of course the effort it took to paint the door red and move all of Brooke’s things into his room without her knowing, it’s clear he loves her. And for a split second, she can see it, she knows it, but then they’re back in the moment, and her surprise at everything he’s done for her in that moment leaves her breathless . It’s a gesture even greater than any love- he’s letting her fully into his life, his world, his home, his room, his family. And when he tells her that he wasn’t ready to lose her, there’s no doubting the truth behind his words.

The emotions that flicker between them are deep and varied, but overall, it’s clear in their eyes that they’re so in love, that it goes deeper than the youthful, sexual love others their age display, that they’d do anything for one another and they both know it.

No words can fit the j o y and commitment they’ve just made to one another without even realizing how serious it is, and as they hug, it’s clear by Brooke’s “I wasn’t ready to be lost” that she’s talking about far more than moving away from home- her life is with Lucas, and she’d be lost on a thousand different levels if they were torn apart.

While we don’t know when Lucas plucked the red feather from Brooke’s costume or why he did it, it was clear how he felt about its owner in the brief scene where we saw him studying the feather. Cinematically, it was a powerful moment- almost everything on the screen aside from the feather, including Lucas’ outfit and makeup, was shades of blacks and browns and tans, a dull contrast to the vibrant red of the feather.

While the feather is clearly symbolic of Brooke as it comes from her costume, it’s worth noting that in the context of the scene, the symbolism runs much deeper. Lucas’s dark, depressing wardrobe was representative of his mood, his confusion about where he stood with Brooke and his fears about his heart condition. Brooke, like the feather, is the beacon of light, the vibrant centerpiece in an otherwise dull world. She adds color to Lucas’ life, livens up an otherwise dull background

The placement of the feather in the box alongside Lucas’ heart medication and the money he stole from the café to pay for it recalls Nathan’s line in season two, where he told Lucas that regardless of the physical condition of his heart, it would never be healthy until he told the girl he loved how he felt. Placing the feather alongside his heart medication illustrates this beyond a doubt- that box contains everything needed to keep Lucas’ heart operating well, everything important to Lucas’ life.

“One Tree Hill” often throws subtle hints into the characters’ mood, mindset, and feelings through their attire. The most obvious examples of this would be Lucas’ gray hoodie that was such a common article of clothing in the first season, but gradually became seen less and less often, as well as Haley’s transformation from the awkward poncho wearing teenager to the sophisticated musician and wife.
Brooke is often dressed in red, and while there’s the obvious reason- Sophia looks amazing in red- there’s certainly more to it than that. It’s always a bright, eye-catching red- rarely do we see her in burgundies or dull reds.

There’s something undeniably brave and confidentabout the color, something sexy and bold.

Lucas gravitates toward red as well; there’s many occasions where we’ve seen him wearing a red shirt, in particular a paler red T-shirt that appears in the first season episode “How Can You Be Sure?” when Brooke and Lucas fear she’s pregnant. In fact, Lucas’ red is always paler than Brooke’s, a testament to the characters’ personalities. Brooke herself is more outgoing, bolder, and more carefree than Lucas. Like his shirt, when Lucas takes chances, he usually goes about it in a much more muted, toned down fashion than Brooke.

This character analysis through color came to a climax in “Prom Night At Hater High” when Lucas saw Peyton holding Brooke’s red prom gown in one hand and her own white one in the other. Instinctively, Lucas gravitated toward Brooke’s, choosing Brooke over Peyton in such an obvious way that even Peyton commented on it. However, on a more powerful level, Lucas choosing behind the two dresses demonstrated what’s happened to Brooke over the course of the fourth season. Red represents confidence and p a s s i o n, which are two things that Peyton took from Brooke this season, and the dress is a clear representation of that.

So, if Lucas wanted to give Brooke her dress back, it stands to reason that he wants to give her that confidence, that passion, that spirit back as well.

Hey everyone! As most of you know already a few months ago a couple of us were fooling around on MSN , talking about how we should send Mark projects to show him that we aren’t giving up on our couple.

We started throwing out ideas left and right. When we realized that we could actually do this, that it might increase our chances. Our lovely Meredith decided to set up a Brooke/Lucas myspace page to store all of our ideas. Now I think most of you joined and even helped out with a lot of the projects.

What I really want to talk about though is something a couple of us came up with a few weeks back. Myself, Cami, Meredith and Jess were online talking about all the finished projects we were about to send out but that wasn’t enough for us! We wanted to do more, send more. We wanted our voices heard. So we got to thinking and Meredith I believe, recalled an interview that Hilarie gave at the end of Season 3.

“Yeah, it’s survival of the fittest. You know, Peyton had dibs, and she gave it up, and all I’m saying is I want my ball back. I gave it to you to play with for ten minutes, now give me my ball
back!”
- Hilarie Burton.

So basically, as you can tell, it’s about the Brooke/Lucas/Peyton triangle. It was a pretty funny metaphor, and we got a great idea from it. We decided to send a basketball to Hilarie. Yes, we actually did send a basketball to Mrs. Hilarie Burton. Which did contain a simple 4 lined letter. This isn’t something hateful that we did, it was actually pretty funny. And I believe, from what we have heard that Hilarie and a few other cast mates had a good laugh.

But even that wasn’t enough for us! We decided that we wanted to do something even bigger. Something that was so huge and so crazy that it would definitely get attention. Something that could work in our favor. We were naming ideas for what seemed like hours when Cami shouted out that we should send a door.
Now, our first reaction was ‘What the hell is this girl talking about?’ It was such a crazy idea and we knew that it wasn’t going to happen. But then Meredith got excited and then Jess and before you know it we were all discussing ways to possibly send Mark a Red Door.

As you can tell from our theme, the red door is symbolic to the Brooke/Lucas relationship. It meant so much to Brooke that she was the girl behind the red door and because it meant something to her, it meant something to Lucas. So when Lucas had the idea to let Brooke stay at his house, he made sure that he had that door painted red. He wanted Brooke to be the girl behind the red door, no matter whose house she was at.
So we got to work. We started talking about ways to get a door, to get the supplies and then to finally ship it off to North Carolina where Mark would receive it. We went straight to the internet to try to find the perfect door, when Meredith announced that she had a door in her garage that her mom said we could use.
We were laughing the whole time, thinking about how wonderfully crazy this idea was. We wanted to write something on it, something that showed Mark and Co just how much we want our couple back. So once again, we started naming ideas. And then it came to me, ‘We Miss The Couple Behind The Red Door’. We all agreed that it was perfect.

So it was set, Meredith had the door, her mom had the paint and we were going to ship it off as soon as we could. No more than 2 weeks ago Meredith came to me and told me that she sent it! That it was painted and wrapped and on it’s way to Mark this very moment.

A couple of nights ago Mere came to us baring some news. Mark received our door. It was sitting in his office, and we were told that he absolutely loved it! The woman that was on the phone with Meredith asked about everything we were doing, how we got started and what else we had planned. And I think it’s pretty safe to say that we're famous down there! We did this for the Brucas League, and we did it for our thread and our couple.

Below are pictures of our bigger projects that Meredith shipped out. She was kind enough to snap some before so we could share them with all of you!

I want to thank The Brucas League, everyone who participated in our projects and who came up with ideas. And especially to Meredith, who got us our site, who received all our projects and then mailed them to Mark. Without her, I believe that none of this would of happened. So thank you Mere!

It's all your's guys. Enjoy!

Thank you

I seriously don't even have any words to describe this thread. Myself , Cami and Eva have worked extremely hard to top the 100th. And I really think that we have done it. This thread is the most amazing place I have come to know on Fanforum. And it's all because of you guys!

I really want to thank everyone who helped make this thread spectacular! The icons , the videos. The story. Just everything is amazing. Especially Summer for helping us out with the most amazing post about The Red Door and all the Red Moments in Brooke/Lucas' relationship. She defenitely has her way with words and it shows in those posts.

How to thank Eva? I don't even know. Shes seriously the rock in this thread. She does everything , and makes everything happen. And I'm just so glad that Cami and I could make her happy with the 200th. She puts every ounce of her time into these threads and it shows.

And Cami , I don't even know what to say. Cami has worked so hard to make this thread beautiful. With her arts and her style. We have had several late nights trying to make everything perfect. We have gotten frustrated and tired but she made it happen. And all the beauty that this thread is goes to her.

And everyone else who helped Nelly for making amazing icons. Everyone who turned in songs for the soundtrack. This fanbase is the best fanbase out there , and thats what makes doing these threads so much fun. And I have to mention my baby Lynn , who wanted to help out so much with the 200th but had some minor set backs.

And I can't forget Meredith! Who has helped our fanbase out more than I could say. Every project would not be possible without her. She has been amazing.

Some of you already know this, but I'm ridiculously relieved the ball was received in a positive light. You knew Cas and I were a little worried about that.

I've been saying this for a while, and it's been hard not to hint at it on this thread, but if Brooke has a red door, how cool would it be if they used that one?
