*From Spoiler Slayer: The episode opens on a young boy watching television. The show is your standard PBS children's television, with an exotic set populated with a variety of puppets and cheery songs. As the boy is entranced by the audio and visuals, his mother wanders in and out, talking to her mother. The young boy has a cold/fever, and it appears that she wants her mother to watch him when she goes to work.

When his mother leaves the room again, one of the puppets (Polo), looks out of the TV and talks directly to the young boy. Polo encourages him to touch the screen. As the boy does, the TV seems to drain the energy out of him. His mother returns to find him apparently dead on the floor in front of the TV, with a smile on his face.

Later, a young girl is being drained. But as this is happening, Gunn and Angel are battling the puppets (we see this on the TV). The TV flashes a bright light and the girl is saved.

Episode 15
After being breathed on by an ancient sarcophagus, Fred contracts a mysterious illness and lies near death while Angel and his friends try to figure out what’s wrong with her.
In a flashback to eight years ago, Fred assures her parents as she moves out of her childhood home that she’ll be perfectly safe on her own in Los Angeles. Then, in the present, Fred and Wesley use flamethrowers to vanquish a nest of nasty-creature eggs, and then kiss in triumph. Meanwhile, back at Wolfram and Hart, Knox takes a middle-of-the-night delivery of an ancient sarcophagus addressed to Fred. The next day, while Angel and Spike argue over whether a caveman or an astronaut would win a fight if they were matched in battle, Fred and Knox examine the sarcophagus, but can’t get it to open. Then Fred leans in closer, and a small opening appears and blows a puff of stale air in her face. It doesn’t seem to affect her, but Knox advises her to get checked out by the company’s medical department just in case. Back in Angel’s office, he finally tires of he and Spike’s constant battling, and urges Spike, who is no longer physically or spectrally bound to the firm, to leave. Spike says he has nowhere to go, but then decides to go find Buffy in Europe, and Angel wishes him well. About the same time, Fred runs into Wesley and tells him about the mummy dust she breathed, but she assures him the doctors found nothing wrong with her. Wes invites her out to dinner, but then, as Fred starts to accept, she suddenly coughs blood all over Wesley’s face.
Fred wakes up later in a hospital room with Angel, Wes, Gunn, Spike, Lorne, and Knox gathered around her bed. They promise to do all they can to figure out what’s wrong with her, and Angel says that all the doctors can tell is that some sort of parasite is making its way through Fred’s system; and if it’s not stopped, it will soon liquefy her organs. To find out what’s going on, Wes returns to his office and pores over magical texts. Gunn goes to the White Room to speak with the conduit to the Powers That Be (which now appears as his own double), but the conduit says that if Gunn wants to help Fred, he’ll have to do it himself. Meanwhile Angel, Spike, and Lorne go to Lindsey’s apartment, where they find Eve in Lindsey’s bed. Angel accuses Eve and Lindsey of being involved in what’s happened to Fred, but Eve insists she had nothing to do with it and doesn’t even know where Lindsey is. Angel doesn’t believe her, but Lorne confirms her aura is clear. He threatens to tell the Senior Partners where Eve is hiding, however, so she says the sarcophagus may belong to one of the “Old Ones” — the original demons that inhabited the world before humans — and that Wesley should search ancient texts for references to the “Deeper Well.” Later, back at Wolfram and Hart, Wes learns the Deeper Well is the burial ground for the Old Ones, and figures out that one of them, Illyria, may be using Fred as a host to re-enter this world. Angel asks where the Deeper Well is, and when he learns it’s in England, he and Spike head for the company jet. As they do, Fred, in her hospital bed, suddenly opens her eyes.
Wes finds Fred in her lab trying to research her own disease. Wesley talks her into stopping, and she asks him to take her home. Meanwhile, as Angel and Spike fly to England, Knox suggests to Gunn that they may be able to slow the progress of Fred’s disease by freezing her until they find a cure. A bit later, at Fred’s apartment, Wes tucks Fred into bed and reads to her from her favorite book, Sara Crewe. Finally Angel and Spike arrive at a tree in a field in the Cotswolds that Angel says is the portal to the Deeper Well. At first they see nothing unusual, but then two demon warriors charge them, and as they fight them off, more appear. Back at Wolfram and Hart, Knox tries freezing a sample of Fred’s blood, but unfortunately the cold does nothing to slow the parasite activity. Knox apologizes to Gunn, saying that he cares about Fred so much, he practically worships “it”… which immediately arouses Gunn’s suspicions. Back in England, after Angel fights off the warriors, a man named Drogyn appears and Angel recognizes him as the keeper of the Well. Drogyn knows Angel and Spike have come about Illyria, and invites them inside. Back at Wolfram and Hart Gunn knocks Knox around, and Knox admits that he chose Fred to be Illyria’s host because he loves her so much. Knox says there’s no way to save Fred, however; and when Gunn says Angel will, Knox says that Angel not only can’t, but when he finds out what’s really going on, he will actually choose to let Fred die.
As Drogyn leads Angel and Spike into the Well, he explains that Illyria disappeared from his resting place about a month ago, in what appears to be part of a predestined escape plan. Spike accuses Drogyn of being remiss at watching his charges, but then they arrive in a tunnel, full of sarcophagi, which stretches all the way down into and through the earth, and Drogyn says Illyria was a very powerful demon who still has acolytes on earth. Meanwhile Knox, one of the acolytes, reveals to Gunn that he (Gunn) actually helped get the sarcophagus into this country (it’s what was on the ship Gunn expedited through customs for Dr. Sparrow in return for getting his mental powers restored). Meanwhile, at Fred’s apartment, her pain worsens, and as she tries to fight it, Wes promises never to leave her. Back in the Well, Spike demands that Drogyn tell them how to get the demon out of Fred’s body, and Drogyn says that a champion can do it; but if he does, Illyria will then enter and infect millions of others to keep from getting trapped by its pursuers. At first Angel declares that he will save Fred no matter what, but as Drogyn goes off to prepare the spell, Angel finally realizes he just can’t trade one life for so many others. Back at Fred’s apartment she gets sicker and sicker until, finally, she dies. Then a blue frost covers Fred’s eyes and her body bucks and rises, now with a mottled blue face and no pupils. As Wes watches in horror, Illyria looks at its new body and says, “This will do.”

· 02/03 - In the W&H parking garage, a man named Hamilton seems to want to attack Eve, who's there with Spike and Angel. Lindsey is also there but he's on the ground. Angel has a sword and readies to use it as Hamilton grabs for something in his jacket pocket... it's a pen! Hamilton tells Eve that she knows how it works. She asks him to tell the Senior Partners that it's a mistake. Hamilton says that it's impossible. Angel, sword in hand, tells Hamilton to back off. Eve tells Angel to not bother because it's over. Hamilton shows a contract and the pen to Eve, who signs it. Once it's done, Hamilton presents himself as Edward Hamilton, team Angel's new liaison to the Senior Partners. Along with her immortality and other priviledges, Eve signed her liaison duties over to Edward. The Senior Partners felt that Even was too easily distracted and lost sight of the big picture. She says that she fell in love. On the roof of Fred's apartment, Illyria and Wesley look at the city. Source: SpoilerFix.com
· 02/01 - Gunn, dressed similar to Lindsey and wearing the necklace (it seems that it's a necklace that allows Gunn to look like Lindsey to others), is sitting in a suburban's house kitchen and helps a kid named Zach with Fourth-grade science. A woman named Trish (listed as Nancy in the FilmJerk.com's summary) is cooking and asks her "hon" to get a bulb from the cellar. Angel drops by the house and asks to see Lindsey. Source: SpoilerFix.com
· 02/01 - Episode 17, which begins filming February 6, is looking to cast Nancy, a pretty suburban housewife, and Zach, her well-adjusted suburban 10-year-old son. Pretty thin info on this one so far, but early info indicates this may be villain Lindsey’s wife and stepson. Sarah Fain and Elizabeth Craft are credited as the writers for this episode and Skip Schoolnik the director. Source: FilmJerk.com

Episode 5.18: Title Unknown
Airdate: Winter/Spring 2004
· 02/13 - The first tidbits of the untitled episode 18 are revealed. Producers are presently casting for the "large guest star" role of Cyvus Vail, a warlock who is the CEO of a powerful demon clan that has enterprises stretching throughout Los Angeles. A former employee of Wolfram & Hart, his special powers made him the go-to warlock when it came to the big magical mojo cases. The character is listed as being in his mid-30s to early 40s and it is revealed that he helped give Angel's son Connor new memories since the end of the last season — and now he needs Connor back to defeat a certain demon named Sahjahn. Terrence O'Hara directs from a Drew Goddard script. Source: FilmJerk.com
· 02/13 - At W&H, Wesley asks to see everything the firm as on a Cyvus Vail. Vail is an ancient demon, wrinkled, leathery skin, dark-red in color, long scraggly hair, and gold eyes. At his mansion, Vail sits on a part-throne part-hospital bed like chair with a spiderweb of intravenous tubes running into his arms. As he slowly removes them, the body of a demon warrior comes crashing on a wall near him. Vail sees a good but pissed Angel. Angel killed all the guards he could find while making his way to Vail. He uses the intercom to order one of his man to send everybody that is not dead home but the man was killed by Angel. Vail admits to Angel that he was trying to kill Angel's son... Connor. He wanted Connor to understand what he, Connor, is capable of. Angel inquires on how Vail knows about Connor... he built him. Wesley tells Lorne about Vail as he is reading the file. Vail oversaw all the magical playes on the West Coast... then some sort of reality shift and... huh... it happened the day Team Angel took over W&H... Vail now tells Angel how he built Connor, or actually, Connor's memories because he needed family memories to ensure that he would remember a past when Angel made the pack with the Senior Partners. Vail wants Sahjhan dead. Angel says he locked him away in an urn (see episode 3.17). Vail has the urn and wants the demon to die because urns break, demons return. Vail then shows Angel a box that, if broken near someone who had his memories altered, would bring old memories back. Angel accepts but the thing is a prophecy tells that only one person can kill Sahjhan... Connor. Source: SpoilerFix.com

ATS: Old Friends And Enemies

Some hint of Angel: Episode 18 has arrived, and it contains what can only be considered to be major news. One of the big questions is about to be answered, one which has ties going all the way back to Season 3. Read on to discover who returns in Episode 18.
Angel: Episode 18

In the offices of Wolfram and Hart, Wesley is looking for information on Cyrus Vail.

Vail is actually a very old and wise demon sorcerer (think Lo Pan - 'Big Trouble In Little China'). He's just received a visit from a very angry Angel, who just killed all of his guards. Angel thought Vail was trying to kill Connor, which wasn't the case. Vail needed Connor to know who he was. Angel doesn't understand how Vail knows about Connor, and we discover that Vail helped set up Connor's dream-life scenario.

Wesley discovers that Vail pulled together mystical resources and sorcerers from around California, to cast an extremely powerful spell the day Angel Investigations signed the deal with Wolfram and Hart.

Angel is learning why, as Vail fills him in on the details of the fantasy life they built for Connor. The truth is, Vail needs Angel's help. He needs someone killed, another familiar name from the past, Sahjahn.

Angel figures this shouldn't be a problem, as he's still where Angel left him back in Season 3, in the Resikhian Urn. Which Vail just happens to have. Angel wants to leave him there, but Vail realizes correctly that he would still be a threat. Urns are breakable.

He gives Angel some extra incentive. Either he'll help Vail, or Vail will use another spell to remove Connor's false memories. Angel reluctantly agrees to kill Sahjahn.

But there's a slight catch-22 involved. The prophecy foretelling Sahjahn's death, describes the only person who can kill him. Connor. Vail gave him the perfect life, and now Angel has to take it away from him.
Very interesting information, albeit brief. Connor is definitely back, and I like the fact that they are returning to the Sahjahn storyline. Of course the blackmail he's using, indicates that Angel has to get Connor to kill him without revealing who he is or what Connor is. Unless they are going to remove his false-memories only temporarily. But that's not the most interesting part.

What of Fred/Illyria and Wesley? As we see, Wesley is back at Wolfram and Hart. Which means whatever went down in 'Shells' and episode 17, it appears that everyone has reached some kind of truce. Either that, or Illyria is off somewhere trying to regain her full powers, and Wesley has come back on his own to Wolfram and Hart.

Hopefully, more info will appears shortly.

(Thanks as always, to 'T')

JOSS WHEDON TALKS ANGEL'S 100TH

Joss Whedon, creator and executive producer of The WB's Angel, said this Wednesday's 100th episode will have the sense of a milestone.

In "You're Welcome," the 12th episode of Angel's fifth season, Charisma Carpenter returns as Cordelia, who mysteriously awakens from her coma and is shocked and unhappy to discover that Angel and the group are no longer fighting Wolfram & Hart, they're running it. When she realizes that Angel has lost his conviction to be a hero, she gives him the information and support he needs to get back on track. Meanwhile, while Angel has security keeping an eye on Eve, her partner Lindsay prepares to bring about Angel's demise.

"That's very much kind of an opportunity for us to sum up, sort of 'Good Lord, we've been doing this for a while' without being sly and post-modern about it and winking at the audience," Whedon said of the 100th episode at The WB's recent Winter Press Tour.

"We're really using it as a milestone, having her (Cordelia). Because she was there at the beginning. She can come and say, 'Where are you now? Where were we when we started and where are you now? And how do you feel about that?'"

As part of the Angel panel, Whedon fielded questions about several different topics involving the series.

Below is a rundown:

*On the impact of DVD sales from the show: "I do think it creates a new revenue stream and I think studios are learning to exploit now in a way they never did. I don't know if that will ever translate back to the show. It's hard to say. They're all separate units of a big company.

"So I don't know if it helps us. It doesn't hurt. The Angel DVDs have been really popular. That shows another way, besides the Nielsens, of proving that we have a loyal fan base.

*If any characters from Buffy the Vampire Slayer would be appearing the rest of this season: "I do not believe we have any Buffy people slated for the rest of the season."

*On the possibility of doing a stunt or high-concept episode for Angel like "Hush" or the musical episode from Buffy: "I don't think it lends itself to a musical like Buffy did. Buffy had sort of a sophomoric, kind of good-hearted silliness that the color palette was very much lended itself to the musical.

"As for the other shows, it was never like, 'Oh, let's do a stunt.' They sort of emerged from trying to find artistic challenges. And if something like that happened on Angel, it would be because we found a new way to tell a story that we thought was valid to the story.

"We're not going to a black-and-white Angel because we can. That's sort of meaningless to us. I haven't gotten anything whacky thought up, like 'Oh, we're going to do this one entirely in Spanish and clogs.'
------------------------------
Oh yea, he hasn't gotten any wacky thoughts. What about turning Angel into a puppet??It's not that far off from an entire episode in spanish and clogs...

Thx for the spoilers Fraz, and thx for the new thread Calcium.

Interesting, ancient temples, another army to destroy man kind...spike and angel working together...sounds like it's the end of the world to me.

Good thing it sounds like Willow is coming to Angel.

<I disagree. I enjoyed S7 very much.>

For the most part I just L-O-V-E-D BtVS season 6 and 7. There were some fantistic stand alone episodes also in both seasons that rival many good movies.

I think most of the problem was that a lot of fans wanted to see more of the final season centered around the original cast members and their stories rather than "new" faces that had nothing to do with the past 7 years.

IMO, what we got was that everything centered around Buffy. From the very first episode of BtVS it clear that the show was All About Buffy. The final season just reinforced that.

Thanks for the spoilers, Fraz!

I'm wondering if Fred/Illyria is just a MotW or the catalyst for the true Big Bad. It sounds like there is a way to stop the demon if they get It to the ancient burial ground in time. Because the show needs women desperatly (and Fred being the only female cast member) I can't see them offing her. Perhaps they can get the demon out of her (and, please, not like having a baby sort of out of her).

Then we are left with a few inner circle friends who could be BB. Gunn, for his part and Wes for his revenge. Poor Knox is a gonner I think.

I bet $s to donunts whoever the Sunnyhell contact is will be by phone and we won't get any guest apperances. It could be a question about yellow crayons to Xander, or asking Giles whatever happened to Big Ben or as simple as a spell from Willow.

Has this episode been shot ? or will it be shot in the next few weeks ? because AH is supposed to play on stage with Luke Perry in London, in February. I know, because a friend of mine has tickets for it.

I would love to see AH, but i don't dare hope. We could end up with Amy !

How in the hell was Gunn responsible for Fred's condition? I thought that only Knox was responsible.

The more I read these spoilers, the more I hate what this season is turning into. And I was really enjoying Season 5.

Now we'll have Wes bent upon revenge against Gunn and Knox and determined never to leave Fred's side, whether she's possessed or not. Mutant Enemy is determined that these two will remain a couple. God, how I long for Lilah!

They're getting rid of Eve and bringing aboard some self-righteous prig named Hamilton. Great! I realize that the rest of you hate Eve, but I liked her, dammit! And now we have this jerk to deal with.

Even worse, Spike will finally be joining Wolfram & Hart! That's just @#%$ great!

I wonder . . . if there is any other way Whedon and Company can disappoint me.

The WB Unwraps Its February Sweeps Plans
By The Futon Critic Staff

CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- The WB plans to fill its February sweeps schedule with "original episodes of its dramas and comedies, featuring flashbacks to World War II, magic schools, vampires, werewolves, living puppets, car crashes, the return of old loves, loss of innocence and near-death experiences," according to a network press release.

Here's a complete breakdown of what to expect during the key ratings period.

The Wednesday night team of two critically acclaimed dramas, SMALLVILLE and ANGEL, continues to deliver fantasy, action and adventure in February. On the February 11 episode of SMALLVILLE, Clark (Tom Welling) risks revealing his true identity when he tries to save Pete (Sam Jones III) from death at the hands of dangerous thugs, and Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) discovers that Adam's (guest star Ian Somerhalder) doctor is treating him with an experimental drug. The February 18 episode finds Clark revealing his secrets to a girl with mysterious powers whose "fatal attraction" for Clark puts Lana (Kristin Kreuk) in real danger. Finally, on March 3, Clark realizes that he received a phone call from the future, proving that Adam is a threat to Lana's life.

On February 11, ANGEL (David Boreanaz) travels back to his days in World War II when the U.S. Navy enlisted his aid to retrieve a German submarine with a secret cargo of vampires, including Spike (James Marsters).
In an unusual and whimsical episode on February 18, Angel is transformed into a puppet while investigating the deadly effect that a children's television program is having on its audience. On February 25, when they discover a hole in the world that serves as a burial ground for demons that existed before recorded time, Angel and Spike race to stop one of the ancient demons from using Fred's (Amy Acker) body to return to power. Finally, on March 3, Angel reaches out to an old friend from Sunnydale in his desperate attempt to restore Fred to her body.

Following is a list of programming highlights, all times ET.

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 11

"Why We Fight"
VAMPIRES ABOARD A GERMAN U-BOAT - Lawson (guest star Eyal Podell, "Behind Enemy Lines"), a mysterious man from Angel's(David Boreanaz) past, arrives at Wolfram & Hart and takes the gang hostage. Through flashbacks to World War II, it is revealed that Angel worked with the U.S. Navy to recover a captured German submarine with American sailors on board. The ship also has a secret cargo, a dangerous trio of vampires, including Spike (James Marsters), who were kidnapped by the Germans and forced to help the Nazis. When the sub comes under attack, Angel saves Lawson's life by turning him into a vampire. Now, sixty years later, Lawson has arrived at Wolfram & Hart seeking revenge.

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 18

"ANGEL" - (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET)
"Smile Time"
THE GREAT PUPPET CAPER -- When a popular children's show begins to steal the life forces of children by hypnotizing them, Angel (David Boreanaz) goes directly to the studio to uncover the evil doings. Upon entering the building, Angel triggers a spell that transforms him into a puppet. In a race against time, puppet-Angel and company must find a way to reverse the spell, save the lives of hundreds of children and return Angel to his normal vampire state. Meanwhile, Nina(guest star Jenny Mollen), the werewolf Angel befriended, returns to declare her romantic intentions, but puppet-Angel is too embarrassed to reciprocate.

How is Gunn responsible for Fred's condition? How? I learned from another spoiler that it was Gunn who was the first to discover that Knox was responsible. So what changed?

Gunn is the one who allows the artifact that makes Fred sick in the first place, into the country.. I think he does something else to, but I don't have my outline nearby...

In Episode 14 "Smile Time" Gunn starts to lose his memory and his brain upgrade. So he goes back to the doctor who performed the operation. He tells Gunn he'll make the upgrade permanent only if Gunn makes the legal matter of a shipment of legal drugs dissappear and enter the US. Gunn agrees, but the shipment isn't drugs but the sarcophagus that kills Fred.

So it's both Gunn's & Knox's fault for Fred's death. Knox because he choose Fred to die and become his Master. And Gunn's because he didn't care for the consequences of his need for power. It then lead to Fred's death.

They can't kill fred she's the only female cast member. This story line sounds too similar to what happened in series 4. Lets hope that they don't completely ruin her character like they did with Cordy. I am set on wes/Fred getting together

I'm really am starting to hate what they are doing to Gunn this season. I miss the street-wise Gunn. Something tells me Gunn will have a contaction to the BB this season.

Also, they won't kill Fred off. Somehow, maybe through that old Sunnydale friend, she'll be alive and well by the end of the season.
