Question: What's the latest on Elisha Cuthbert returning to 24? -- Dominic
Ausiello: Ladies and gentleman, we've got a signed contract! Sources confirm to me exclusively that Cuthbert has inked a deal to reprise her role as Jack's lightning rod of an offspring for a season-ending arc that will no doubt trigger a new round of wholly outdated and painfully unfunny cougar jokes. Per my 24 mole, Kim will return minus her old beau (sorry, C. Thomas Howell) and plus a child! That's right, Kim's got a little puma all her own!
Pics of Elisha on set can be seen on page 9.

Added 9th August 2008

I know we have like 7 + months before we even get to this part of Season 7 but it is new information about mid season. This is normally where we have finished the first story,Tony now into the 2nd story African dictator and Jon Voight becomes more involved in the show.

* Episodes 13 and 14 will introduce new characters. One will be Greg Seaton, an edgy CEO in his 40s who will appear in several episodes. Also in these episodes are Agent Reynolds, the commander of the Critical Incident Rescue Group at the White House, and Richard Chapman, a weapons engineer in his late 30s working for a corporation.

5:05 pm: Kim Bauer may be coming back! 24 exec producer/director Jon Cassar just revealed to me exclusively that there have been preliminary discussions about bringing back Jack's much-maligned daughter this season. "We have talked about it," he confirms. "But anytime we talk about Kim, we immediately say, 'Let's not do anything with her that will result in the audience hating her.'" I also got some intel on the "return" of Martha Logan and the status of that long-rumored 24 feature, but I'll have to save that for later since I'm racing off to cover Fox's all-star party at the Santa Monica Pier. More scoop to come! Promise!

* The 7th season takes place at least four years after the 6th. We know this because Chloe O’Brien is now the mother of a 4-year-old.

* Sprague Grayden (“Jericho”) will play the president's daughter.

* Jon Voight (“Transformers”) will play an evil mastermind in both the movie and subsequent episodes.

* Tony Todd (“Candyman”) will play the evil Sangala dictator in both the movie and subsequent episodes.

* Janeane Garofalo (“The West Wing”), who played an FBI agent in “Clay Pigeons” and Mary Lynn Rajskub’s boss on “The Larry Sanders Show,” plays an FBI agent in season seven.

* Gil Bellows (“Ally McBeal”) will play a State Department employee in the movie.

* John Billingsly (“Star Trek: Enterprise,” “The Nine”) has been cast as somebody named Latham.

* We can expect the seventh season to be set several months after the movie.

24' Exclusive: Chloe (Temporarily) Clocks Out!

Jul 3, 2008, 11:07 AM | by Michael Ausiello

Categories: 24

With Mary Lynn Rajskub about to give birth in real life any day, 24 fans are wondering who'll replace Chloe as Jack's go-to geek. Well, they can stop wondering: Sources confirm to me exclusively that she'll be relieved by none other than the perpetually pouty computer whiz's ex, Morris O'Brian.

Though the slippery hacker won't make his comeback in fall's two-hour teaser "prequel," portrayer Carlo Rota has just signed on to appear in a handful of episodes, starting around the midday point after January's official premiere. How will the changeover take place?

Spoiler alert -- don't say I didn't warn you!

I hear that an emergency involving Chloe's now-4-year-old spawn causes her to take off for a few hours (i.e. episodes), prompting her (possible) babydaddy to step in. All of which sounds OK to me, so long as Chloe's kid isn't being menaced by a cougar. Been there, done that, don't wanna go there again.

From May 7th

24

* Two new recurring characters will be introduced in episode 11 or 12. Denton, a 50ish-year-old major Washington D.C. player, is behind a huge conspiracy. The role could be either male or female. The second recurring is Vice President Mitchell Hansen.

Quote:
Jack Bauer is under Senate investigation for crimes against humanity," Coto explains. But while in Washington, FBI agent Renee Walker brings him in to deal with a series of possible terrorist attacks instigated by former CTU agent Tony Almeida, previously presumed dead. "Jack's thrust into this mystery of how Tony is still alive, and why is he trying to bring down this country?"

About season 7:

* With CTU dismantled, the show's setting moves to Washington, D.C..
* Jack Bauer faces trial for his actions in the pursuit of justice. He'll have to work with Chloe to uncover conspiracy within the U.S. government.
* Bauer's day gets off to a shocking start when former colleague Tony Almeida, last seen in "Day 5," returns after being left for dead by a terrorist conspirator in CTU's infirmary.
* FBI Agent Janis Gold will be tasked to investigate Jack Bauer and other ex-CTU personnel. On her team will be FBI Agents Larry Moss, Renee Walker and Sean Hillinger.
* One of the storylines will revolve around the death of the First Son, Roger. His death was classified as a suicide but his father, Henry, believes it was murder and wants to prove it. The First Gentleman will also have heart problems.
* Olivia Taylor, the confident and driven 20-year-old daughter of the President and First Gentleman, is trying to make business with a pharmaceutical company and has a strained relationship with her mother.
* The bad guys will be from an African country that may be called Sangala. While visiting Washington, the former Prime Minister of an African nation and his wife will be victims of a kidnapping attempt.
* Chloe has a 1-year-old kid and a wedding ring. Morris is taking care of the baby.
* John Brunner, an Ohio Plant Manager in his 40s, will try to prevent a potentially deadly catastrophe from happening.
Quote:
Olivia Taylor, a new recurring character, will be introduced in episode 7.09 or 7.10. She is the confident and driven 20-year-old daughter of the President and First Gentleman. She is a working woman in D.C. who is trying to make business with a pharmaceutical company and has a strained relationship with her mother. In the same episodes, the First Gentleman sees a heart surgeon.

From the latest Ask Ausiello column.

Quote:
Question: Any spoilers on 24 — in particular, does Chloe get a real storyline this time? I just saw the trailer for the new season, and I saw only a one-second glimpse of Chloe. This troubles me greatly. — Belly

Ausiello: Truth be told, there were several things about that trailer (conveniently playing now at TVGuide.com via this link) that troubled me, not the least of which was the lack of attention paid to my girl Chloe. For instance, did Tony really have to shave all his hair off to drive home the point that he's now evil? And is anyone interested in seeing Jack Bauer mired in some boring courtroom drama? Now that's torture. On the plus side, the action sequences look fraktacular, and… um, er… Kiefer Sutherland was rockin' that blue suit. Rather than bemoan the lack of attention paid to Chloe, Mary Lynn Rajskub — the very definition of "team player" — trumpeted the show's big Season 7 shake-up at the trailer's worldwide premiere in Times Square last Thursday. "So far, the scripts that I've read are completely different," she told us. "It takes place in Washington, D.C., there’s a rogue CTU set up, an African country is the terrorist threat, and there’s a conspiracy inside the government that we're trying to uncover." And what about Chloe? "I show up, time has passed and I have a 1-year-old and a wedding ring and I'm calling Morris while I'm busy. So far he's taking care of the baby, but he's around."

I can't believe they've actually brought Tony back!

I know. I don't like it mainly because it was a last-minute decision. It feels like this is something they set up in case they ever ran out of other ideas - which, it appears, they have. It'll be good to see him again; it will just take some convincing to make me agree with the storyline.

Tony isn't my favorite character but I am still so curious to see how they going to make this work. A realm of realism has to take a backseat at times w/ alot of things on the show so I am not that surprised at the concept that they are bringing a character back from the dead.

True enough.

I'm willing to give this storyline a chance... I just hope it pays off.
