General spoilers
- CW president Mark Pedowitz has confirmed that all midseason shows (which includes The 100) will have 13 episodes.
- S4 is going to be very different but reminiscent of S1 on a much larger scope.
- The nuclear apocalypse will take place and 96% of the Earth will be uninhabitable in 2 or 6 months (depending on which interview you're reading.)
- S4 deals with changes in everything from the characters to the environment to the animals. The big bad is the Earth itself.
- Series EP Jason Rothenberg says the radiation is "an unbeatable foe." The goal of the season is "not trying to stop it, because it’s not stoppable, it becomes how do we survive? There are not enough life boats. The Earth is the ark.”
- Water will reportedly become a problem for the characters, presumably as the radiation spreads.
- There will not be a time jump. The opening sequence will be "insane" and pick up right where we left off. A new character will be introduced and one of the first things we'll see is Octavia going to find Indra.
- There is neither a Commander or a Chancellor at the start of season 4, but we’ll quickly find out what happens with the two groups.
- The Grounders have scouts out searching for Nightbloods, and we’ll meet at least one at the top of the season. Although Lexa won’t return in season 4, the Flame is still around, presumably ready to enter a new Nightblood.
- Since there isn’t really a fix to the apocalypse, a big theme of the season will be the characters having to evaluate whether they feel they deserve to survive.
- Expect more intimate and emotional stories, not necessarily romance or relationships, but the Sky Crew will be together much more than last season.
- The characters are splitting up in new and interesting ways. There will be fracturing, but attention will be paid to who's on what mission.
- Some characters will prepare for the coming apocalypse while some will enjoy as much as they can.
- A lot of people will be angry with Clarke for stopping ALIE and giving them their pain back.
- Clarke will struggle with the decision of whether to tell everyone about the radiation apocalypse. But it looks like Raven will be one of the first she tells, which leads to conflict. Raven will want to "crowdsource" the answer.
- Raven has been "upgraded" by her experience with ALIE and will be busy saving the world. But she also might choose to have some fun or start a new relationship as she begins to think about how she wants to spend her last six months on Earth.
- Bellamy and Octavia's relationship takes a turn that people won't expect.
- Marie Avgeropolous says Octavia goes even darker and "becomes an assassin with a group you're very familiar with."
- Clarke is still nursing a broken heart after Lexa's death and won't be ready to jump into another relationship anytime soon, but she will be with somebody else eventually.
- Christopher Larkin confirms that his romance with Harper will continue in S4.
- Murphy and Emori's relationship will also continue.
- Jarod Joseph (Miller) and Zach McGowan (Roan) have been promoted to series regulars. There are reports that Chelsey Reist (Harper) may have been promoted as well.
- Nadia Hilker returns as Luna.
- Adina Porter will also be back as Indra.
- Tasya Teles will be back as Echo, confirmed to be in episode 4x02.
- Chai Romruen has been cast as Ilan, a Grounder haunted by the horrors he committed while under ALIE's control.
- We might also see another new female grounder named Kenza, a slightly younger, more “devout” Grounder who put down her sword some time ago in favor of a religious life.
