Because they're two of Marvel Studios' most successful characters right now.
Most of the mythology is being built around them. Thor is good too, but he's a bit more removed from SHIELD and all that stuff.__________________

I've seen it, and it was awesome!
Captain America: The Winter Soldier is now one of the three best Marvel Studios movies so far, along with Iron Man and The Avengers. I only wish that The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Iron Man 3, Thor, Thor: The Dark World, and Captain America: The First Avenger were this good.  __________________
