Anime Subbed or Dubbed: What do you prefer?

Didn't see a thread about this here so I thought I should bring it up. If there is, you mods know what to do

Anywho, I was wondering how all you anime lovers prefer your anime: Subbed (Subtitled) or Dubbed (In English or whatever other language that's not Japanese).

For me, I prefer the subtitled version of any anime over dubbing because in some cases, dubbing can turn out to be either okay or really...really horrible. And it's not just the voices I'm reffering too. Even in some anime that has aired, certain scenes, slaps, dialouge, and even episodes (take Sailor Moon for example) get cut off. I know it's because majority of Americans who watch cartoons are little kids and it might not be good for them. That could be a bit of an insult to the creative geniuses behind the original work.

However, some dubbing, I find rather good. Some of these anime are: Witch Hunter Robin, Nightwalker: Midnight Detective, and Vampire Princess Miyu (TV Series)

So...how do you prefer your anime?

Good thread idea, angie!

I prefer subbed as well. When they dub it in English, it always comes out sounding wrong and corny.

Brace yourself vc, it might turn out to be the famous sub/dub war that goes around in anime boards.

I prefere Subtitled also. I mean look what they've done to Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, Tokyo Mew Mew, and .Hack//Legend of the Twilight. I mean Haruka and Michiru cousins They didn't show the romance of with Usagi/Marmou.

Dubbed are sometimes good if you get a good dubber. Case Closed has been exact to the words ( we have cussing) and all the gory murders but then they show that show at 4am in the morning. They dubbed Rurnie Kenshin pretty good except they cut out alot of fight scenes.

So over all i prefere Subbed.

Subs. Except with Digimon. I was raised on those english voices dammit, and the jap ones freak me out.

But I watch Fruits Basket, Fullmetal Alchemist, Gravitation, Loveless, Ai no Kusabi, and countless others all in sub.

Subbed, because I love Japanese. I also think the Japanese voice actors are much better at what they do. Anime's just not the same dubbed.

For anime that's intended for older kids (Inu Yasha for example), one thing that irks me is that all swear words (not "stupid" and "shutup") will be replaced by "Damn you".

BTW vc, call me Kris.

I've noticed they delete any and all cuss words or anything that they deem inappropriate. In CardCaptor Sakura, they cut out any scenes of Sakura crying and never mentioned the fact that Syaoran and Meilin was engaeged for awhile.

I would definately have to say sub, although there are a couple of series that I do like dubbed because it makes them cornier.

subs, hands down.
the japanese seiyuus are much more into their jobs than the english voice actors- their voices actually have life behind them, lol, while the english characters just sound...dead. it's painful to listen to.

I say subbed better then dubbed because I like hearing the language and it seems more genuine to me. But I'm cool with dubbing also.

It has to be subbed, I saw the original Pokemon in Japan and it was scary, all the voices sounbded angry. And I watch FMA with subs and the the version on Adult Swim, the voices don't match at all. It was weird.

Hi GACT16

I never heard the Pokemon is japanese. I'll have to look up the clips.

Same thing with Inuyasha. I downloaded a subbed episode , it didn't sound like the version on Adult Swim, especially Kagome and Inuyasha's voice. It was weird and confusing.
