Things are starting to open up more here. I still prefer to be cautious though. Starting Monday I won't need a negative covid test within the past 2 weeks to visit mom at her nursing home, but will still need to wear a mask and maintain social distancing.

OK. Wish her well. Not a lot happened here on the 4th of this month. It was quiet largely here.

Canada Day celebrations were cancelled here, or done online, so it was quiet.

Had quite the thunderstorm this morning. Guess we needed the rain.

Hi. I'm ready for some cooler weather. That should start tomorrow. More chaos in downtown Portland with protests & this secret police it's being called. 1 Navy vet got hit with a baton & pepper sprayed. Just crazy. These Federal buildings mean a lot to Trump though & that's supposedly why these agents are over there. I don't personally think that a federal building being vandalized is reason for these agents to be there & beat people up because it's just made things worse. We need Election Day to get here. Maybe things will call calm down then. Time to start thinking of a new thread title.

From what I've seen the federal government response in Portland has only made things worse.

Trump's leadership totally baffles me. I hope Americans get out and vote this fall.

They continue to relax restrictions here, but I'm still wary. After 11 days of no new covid cases in my 2 county area, there are now 2 new cases, both in town. All the tourists coming in for the beach can't be helping matters.

Yeah. A judge has denied a restraining order against the Feds being in Portland also. Oregon lawmakers are considering a tear gas ban in proposed bill requirements. Interesting that you're getting tourists

Guess the Feds decided to use tear gas anyways. Were the protests violent?

Some are definitely tourists by the hotel parking lots. Others are seasonal residents coming up to their cottages or trailers on the lake. Guess I can't blame them for wanting to use their property, but in a small town you really notice the difference in traffic.

There was a fire started in a street & a person was found stabbed after a crowd dispersed. I haven't been watching bmy local news much lately, so unsure on how much violence that there has been this week over there.

Guess we can keep this thread title for the next 1 if people want.
