For a little extra money, Powell will actually sketch a little goon for you and sign it. That was I want him to do on the inside of one of my trades as well as sign a single issue.

Jerry, issue 475 of Uncanny XMen?

onion, Ed Brubaker is about start his run. I think it's starting in July. He's a great writer, and that's probably a good "jumping on" point.

Okay, I guess I can wait. Hopefully, his issues will be out in trades.

Yeah Onion, 475 is going to get it kicked off.

In short, Scott and Alex Summer's kid brother is about to piss off a galactic empire....cuz he's got a hate on for 'em.

I'm not sure why. He should be hating Prof X. I think. The last page of that mini, it was harsh.

I didn't read any of that mini. Maybe I'll pick it up in trades.

If I haven't recommended it before, the DC Fallen Angel series is great. It is full of moral grayness, unforseen alliances, and a genuinely interesting heroine.

I haven't looked at Fallen Angel yet.

It's not professor X's fault that he was robbed of his childhood and enslaved and that he didn't have a mom or dad.

The new series has a very distinctive change in art style. It is almost photorealistic at times. I'm still not sure if I like it or not.

I was thinking more of the Prof X knew he existed and never bothered to tell the only family he had left. But yes, you're right, he's not responsible for the other stuff.

I know what you're talking about Alan. I was reading a CGI Elektra last night. It was cool, but it felt strange.

Photo-realism has NO PLACE in comics.

I almost wrote a really bad letter to Dynamite Comics, who has a variant cover to BSG 0 and BSG 1, which is a promo picture. THERE IS NO JOY IN MUDDVILLE ON THAT DAY!

I agree. Photo-realism has more of a place in portraits than comics.

I wouldn't go as far as to say it has no place. But I think the industry needs to use it sparingly. And really think before it uses it. B/c I'll admit to liking photo realistic books and covers. But if it took over the industry, I'd go batty.

Covers are okay...but I sometimes get tired of seeing them. Kind of like Alex Ross' stuff. It is amazing, but sometimes enough is enough.

I think it's b/c as amazing as his work is. He hasn't changed or shown any growth over the years. It just stays the same. Which is bad for any sort of artist, and their audience.

Exactly....and he wasn't perfect to begin with...

I honestly can't stand looking at his stuff any more. I'm starting to get that way with Jim Lee too....so over popularized.
