Anti-Thread Experiment [Please Read]

Hey everyone!

Caroline (vc318) and myself are doing a little experiment regarding anti-threads in hopes of expanding discussion on the Cartoon board. That and hoping to attract some new posters. We all know you guys are insightful and mature in your fandoms and we all seem to get along whether or not we agree or disagree with our point of views.

After some talking over (and some mixed feelings), we decided not to have anti-shipper threads for the sake of not unleashing a potential and chaotic drama. However, if this anti-thread experiment works out, we could take on broader topics that you might suggest that have nothing to do with couples (ex. 3D, flash cartoons, censorship, etc.). The anti-threads are there to criticize and dislike the subject at hand. Occasionally one will mock the stupidity but let's at least keep it clean.

First things first. If we are to have anti-threads, let's not resort to childish or violent behavior. So basically:

+No running around the anti-thread screaming obscenities. Meaning don't just pop in the thread and belch out the F-word with the middle fingers included. Or whatever...although I'm pretty sure we all have that urge when "x" screws things up.

+If you are a fan of the subject at hand, please do not pop in the thread and try to defend the subject because that would just make not only yourself but those against whatever it is be upset. At times, there is an appreciation thread of sorts in the thread guide that you can show your love (if you need help looking for a non-anti thread on that subject, look through our thread guide or feel free to PM one of the mods). Same thing goes for the antis: If you don't like a subject, don't go to an appreciation thread and tell everyone else how much it sucks. This includes insulting the other in your own thread even though they wouldn't bother to jump in.

+Even if you are against *insert subject*, let's not wish death threats or any violent stuff not only at posters who are for said thing, but at the companies, creators, voice actors, etc. as well. Just be critical of their work.

+And let's not get in to other vulgarities that doesn't fall within the rules of the forum.

No, the rules are not there to restrict freedom of speech. Antis should have as much fun as those who appreciate whatever the thread/fandom is. But there is a line drawn between open criticism/healthy dislike and stirring drama. After all, none of us wants to run in to a post about things being shoved in...well, you see where I'm getting at.

If all goes well and you guys are trustworthy, then we might expand. Just as long as the Cartoons board is not overrun with Anti threads. We're here to like and criticize so let's balance it out. Right now, the only anti-thread that is allowed would be the Anti-dubbing thread found [here]

In the mean time, for now, please don't start any anti-threads, whether it be shippers or any broad subject. Remember, we're experimenting. And if it doesn't work out...guess we'll have think of something else.

Thanks for pointing this out, sweetie. We just want to know how you guys feel about us trying this idea out and if so, what suggestions you might have. Please feel free to post them here. Thanks!

^ lala, I don't think that link in your sig is allowed.

Oh, and BTW how's the experiment going? Or is it too early to tell?

A bit too early to tell. Mostly due to the inactivity. Other than that, discussion wise it's going okay.
