Recess (1997 - 2003): Scandalous!

The series is centered around the interaction between the six main characters of the series. Typical plots involved the group banding together in order to unravel government conspiracies, or attempting to outwit their teacher chaperones. Usually, every episode ends with one of the characters learning an important life lesson. Recess is at Third Street Elementary School, and usually focuses on the time the characters spend playing outdoors during recess. The outdoor environment of Third Street Elementary School is littered with typical playground equipment, and obscure structures (most notably the Ashley Clubhouse and the jungle gym, Ol' Rusty). During this time, the children are governed by a pseudo-monarchy, and required to conduct themselves according to a clichéd set of unwritten laws.

I remember watching this when I was a kid and even today, it's still rather enjoyable. Not to mention that with other cartoons like Hey Arnold, or Doug, you could actually relate to the kids...or know kids that are like that.

Have you seen the episode where Spinelli was forced to wear a dress and makeup upon (unwillingly) having joined "The Ashleys"? And Randall's just standing there laughing.

Randall has his moments, even if he was supposed to be the annoying weasel.

And I really loved the Kindergarteners

One of my favorite episodes was the one when each of the main kids had to work one-on-one with a Kindergartener

I remember that episode. Or when TJ was abducted by the Kindergartners before slowly becoming like them.

And I thought the movie was actually all right. A little exaggerated (attempts to send the Earth to global cooling for the sake of raising high test scores) but still all right. The series/episodes afterwards kinda went downhill from there.

I loved this show.
T.J had to be my favorite character.
I also shipped T.J with Spinelli.
I loved the movie a lot.
Gus was my second favorite character.
I liked Gus with Gretchen.
My least favorite character had to be Mikey. I understood his none violence rules, but some times it called for it.
I have too many episodes that I love. But my all time favorite one had to be the Valentines Day episode.
But yes, this had to be one of my all time favorite series.

I liked most of the episodes but I think my top favorites would be either The Story of Whomps ("No giving skin on the wall." ), First Name Ashley, and The Box.

TJ going crazy in the chalk drawn box was creepy in a good way. Psychological mess up.

That one YouTube user (Gopi09) may have had his account suspended but there are Recess episodes still popping up on YouTube! I've been watching it the past few days and some of the stuff really alludes to childhood. Plus, the fact that they have a playground hierarchy is what makes the show interesting.

Here's some of my favorite episodes:

YouTube - Recess - The Box
YouTube - Recess _Jinxed
YouTube - Recess_ Bonky Fever
YouTube - Recess - The Experiment

The way Butch tells his story about Joey kissing a girl ["The Experiment"] is freaking hilarious!

"Boys kissing girls, girls kissing boys! And you know what else? We're all gonna like it!" *thunder claps*
