Batman Discussion thread #2: The Legend lives forever!

Welcome to the thread everyone to discuss everything Batman related. this is an exciting time, because Batman will likely be on the poll next month. Also Warner Bros. reportedly are planning on rebooting the Batman movie franchise. What or who would you like to see in the next Batman films?

Thanks for the new thread  I'd like to see them keep in the direction Nolan went, a Dark Batman movie.

I'd like to see Harley Quinn but I'm conflicted because they would need the Joker to do that and No one will make as good a Joker as Heath Ledger.

Also it'd be interesting to see a new take on the Riddler or Mr.Freeze, or maybe villains they haven't done yet like Black Mask or Zasz.

cool to see batman get another thread. don't really have much to say on a reboot since i'm trying to stay away from that topic right now. still dealing with the loss of tdk trilogy coming to an end.

About the Joker, if someone does get that role in another film he wouldn't have to try & do ''as good'' that Heath Ledger did. Of course how well actors ''do'' in films is in the eyes of the beholder.

I'd like to see Mad Hatter & Nightwing in a Batman film, along with Man-Bat.

I would try really hard not to compare them, but somehow would end up doing it anyway.

I'd also like to see nightwing, or a more serious take on Robin.

OK. What about a ''Batman'' TV series remake? Would that interest you? Their have been plenty of ''Superman'' themed non-animated TV shows, but not Batman for some reason. The 1 it did have of course lasted 3 seasons, but that 3rd season was over 40 years ago.

there were plans to do a batman tv series somewhere in the late 90s, early 2000s. i don't know if you ever saw that show, birds of prey, which pretty much starred the female characters in gotham city. there was supposed to be some sort of spin off or continuing show with batman, but it never happened. maybe due to low ratings for birds of prey. it didn't stay on long. rather, wb/dc went for superman and there came smallville.

as for a batman tv series, i can see it happening in the somewhat future. not now. i think with batman bringing in so much success in film, wb wants to continue that. honestly, i'm not in a rush to see a batman tv series. i wasn't born when the original show aired, but as a child i watched the repeats and found it entertaining. i think if a batman series airs on tv, i think they'll go more for that serious, dark tone, like the graphic novels or a nolanesque tone. that's the only way i see a batman series coming to life on televison that's not animated.

now with green arrow premiering this fall on cw, i think this is wb/dc's attempt in trying to get other dc characters a chance to perform before possibly placing them on the big screen, which i don't have a problem with & seriously welcome it. i really think they need to branch out beyond batman & superman. green arrow carries similarities to batman so, i guess we'll just have to see how it goes. otherwise, i'm fine with not seeing a batman live action tv series.

That'd be interesting.

Smallville was originally going to be about Bruce Wayne training to become Batman but ended up being about Clark Kent.

canflam 08-26-2012 04:23 PM

Didn't know that about ''Smallville''. I have heard of ''Birds of Prey'', but haven't seen that show yet. There is a Birds of Prey thread around here though haven't seen it since the boards were merged.

Just to add to this, since I'm a Smallville-holic, I think a TV show can work alongside a movie. When Superman Returns was being shot, Brian Singer actually consulted and worked with Smallville producers/writers to work around the show and the movie and not having any overlaps.

BTW, there was a plan to bring in young Bruce and young Diana into Smallville, but due to DC Comics red tape, it didn't happen.

And Sarei is correct. Birds of Prey was going to introduce young Bruce Wayne also - at least make him do cameos/guestings, but it got canceled.

Thanks for that info. We need every post possible here to keep the Comics & Cartoons board open. Hopefully this thread will become more active tomorrow.

Sure! Will bookmark this so I can post whenever :D I actually didn't know there was a Comics board, I just found out from the Batman campaign thread.

I understand you need more posts. Here's one!

I love the old Batman tv series. I thought it was very funny.

I liked it too. It was a different kind of Batman and I actually didn't even mind the low budget. I think it added to the charm of the show

Subject87 I love that!
