Batgirl Discussion

Since there is a Batman thread I thought I should add a Batgirl one.

First I loved Yvonne Craig as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl on the show. She started out great and then over time was relagated to needing Batman and Robin saving her which become tiresome.

I have read at that they were planning a Bat girl spinoff but because "Girl from UNCLE" did so badly they dropped the idea. Don't know if that is true since I have heard posters say that is not true.

Barbara/Batgirl would certainly make a good love interest for Dick Grayson/Robin since they are suppose to be around the same age group.

In the movie Batman and Robin, I liked Alicia Silverstone as Batgirl. My only gripes were first they introduced her too late in the movie and they changed her back story.

We know that Barbara/Batgirl is the daughter of the police commissioer and not the butler. Worst was how he had a suit and motorcycle made her her.

Batgirl issue #6 just went on sale. Have you been reading her New 52 issues?

They have gotten a lot of mileage out of the Dick/Barbara relationship. I guess that's technically Nightwing/Oracle now instead of Robin/Batgirl...

I liked Cassandra as Batgirl. She was particularly interesting when she didn't talk and was so trained that she could predict what her opponent's next move was.

I have not had the chance to read any of the Batgirl comic books but I hope to soon.

Batman > Batgirl though :/

That's a matter of opinion. Lots of people like Batgirl better because she's usually not as dark or borderline psychopath.

If I get a chance this weekend I'll try to catch up on Batgirl. Issue #12 came out this month. How has the story been so far if you've read it?

I'm surprised there are not many fans of Batgirl around. She did well enough in ''Batman & Robin''.

Are you kidding? Batman and Robin did a horrible job with Batgirl! First of all, they got her character totally wrong. They called her "Barbara Wilson" instead of Barbara Gordon, and made her Alfred's niece instead of James Gordon's daughter. They killed the entire 'Oracle' storyline with Barbara as a tech genius and cybercrime expert, and they even got the costume wrong. She's supposed to have a cowl like Batman, but they made her look more like Black Canary. And she's supposed to be a redhead, not a blonde.

Now, that being said, I absolutely love her outfit from Arkham Knight. And I have to admit that I've always had a thing for the Bruce Wayne/Barbara Gordon thing. I know a lot of people prefer her with Dick Grayson, but Bruce/Barbara always seemed to make more sense to me, kind of like the whole Oliver/Felicity thing they've got going on with Arrow.

Plenty of actors though don't look exactly or sometimes hardly at all as the comic book characters they portray in movies, so her hair wasn't as big a deal to be as some of the others changes you mentioned for that film.

Hey, at least Robert Downy Jr. was willing to wear facial hair to play Tony Stark. And Chris Evans dyed his brown hair blonde for Captain America. When Brandon Routh played Superman he even wore contact lenses to make his brown eyes look blue. I mean, making Batgirl a blonde, taking away her trademark red hair and cowl and making her look like a female version of Robin, and making her Alfred's niece and not James Gordon's daughter..... I'm sorry, but it's just not Batgirl anymore. Batgirl is Barbara Gordon, not Barbara Wilson.
