Shane Falco Appreciation #1 - Because he isn't a replacement for us

Plot: When a professional football players' strike happens, the owner of a fictitious team, the Washington Sentinels, commissions maverick coach Jimmy McGinty to pull together a team. McGinty selects a collection of talented oddballs--a Welsh soccer player, a sumo wrestler, a couple of professional bodyguards--with athletic pasts, figuring that if it doesn't work out as a game, it might as well be a circus. To lead the team, he finds Shane Falco, a once-promising player who had a disastrous championship game. The newly formed squad must learn to set aside its differences if it is to win three out of four games and make it to the playoffs. Along the way, Falco finds himself harassed by the Sentinels’ star quarterback, Eddie Martel, as well as falling in love with the team's head cheerleader, Annabelle. A final showdown against the strike-breaking reigning champions gives McGinty and Falco one last chance at redemption.

Somehow and apart from all critics, the movie does really something for me. It's a nice story and I just LOVE the jail-dance-scene!

What are your favorite scenes?

Also check out Cheryl's very interesting adventure at ReevesDrive!

Have fun here,
Barty

I still haven't seen this movie, but it's on TV next month including several reruns. Can't wait to finally see it.

On TV? Where, Premiere (pay tv)?

I've got the DVD - a funny interview and a funny Making Of (although the Making Of is painfully dubbed - NO comment on this, please!) SIGH

I love Shane Falco, he is one hot quarterback! One of my favorites scenes is when Shane was running in slow motion when he appears on the field for the first time. That scene got me going.

I also like the team meeting when they talk about their fears:

Jimmy McGinty: "A real man admits his fears. That's what I'm asking you to do here tonight. Who wants to go first?"
Clifford Franklin: "I'm afraid of spiders, Coach."

The replacements is soo funny! My favorite character would have to be they little scrawny Irish punter. I'm not a football fan..so I think that's what they're called. The kicker guy.
