Okay, I'll ask the dumbest question here, I know that ,but I have a doubt so I'll say it anyway. Is that supposed to be little Keanu? Because the kid is remarkably similar to him so...(sorry I know nothing about the movie ).

The boy is Lou Taylor Pucci and this is what it says on imdb:

A compulsive thumbsucker (Pucci) who's ignored by his aloof parents (Swinton, D'Onofrio), turns to his debate coach (Vaughn) and orthodontist (Reeves) to break him of his habit.

So, he's playing the thumbsucker and Keanu's playing his orthodontist.

Boing Boing pal Erik Davis sends us this exclusive bit of insider insight into the Hollywood adaptation of Philip K. Dick's surreal SF novel "A Scanner Darkly": "This spring, I had the opportunity to read and consult on Richard Linklater’s screenplay for Philip K. Dick’s A Scanner Darkly, which is set to start filming this July. As I love many of Linklater’s films, this was a great honor, although much less funny than the New Yorker’s description of me as a “Dick expert.” Expert or no, I can tell you that I have every reason to believe that Linklater’s film will be what Dickheads everywhere have been waiting for: the first “real” “authentic” PKD movie. While the film updates the historical vibe from paranoid 70s to paranoid 00s, the script is dark and tart, funny and faithful. Nearly all the dialogue is drawn from the novel, and the few changes sharpen Dick’s themes rather than squelch them. Linklater has kept the story dark, and haunted by rumors of God. As has been reported, Keanu Reeves will play Bob Arctor, the Orange County narc who goes schizo after being assigned to spy on himself. Linklater has been planning this project for years; it was Reeves’ interest in the story that finally got the ball rolling. As has been already noted, Winona Ryder, Robert Downey Jr., Woody Harrelson, and Rory Cochrane round out the cast, though it also needs to be mentioned that these are some of the most famous druggies in Hollywood. Actually, I don’t know anything about Rory’s personal habits, but he sure spouted convincing cannabinoid bon mots in Dazed & Confused. During my time at Linklater’s pine-forested getaway pad outside of Austin, which features a pagoda, a huge stone tower, and many pinball machines, I got to meet the genius team whose digital rotoscoping helped make Waking Life one of the few masterpieces of the new millennium. These are definitely the guys you want to bring Bob Arctor’s scramble suit to life."

Keanu's name has been removed from the cast list at IMDB.com for "Tripoli" (2007).

I hope that doesn't necessarily mean that he's not doing it! I'd love to see Keanu in a Ridley Scott movie!

And now for the GOOD NEWS!!

A Scanner Darkly now has a release date (September 16, 2005) and first positive critics.

Richard Linklater did the impossible with his 2001 release, Waking Life. The noted writer/director created a new genre by lensing the sequences in action then later animating them. The movie's dramatically different look and intensely philosophical subject matter proved off-putting to most audiences, so Waking Life has had to accept the fate for most existential avant garde pieces. It has spent the last couple of years creating buzz on DVD. In the interim, Linklater created the blockbuster Jack Black vehicle, School of Rock. The result is that the auteur gained newfound popularity and, more importantly, negotiating power. How is Linklater using this power? He is returning to his newly formed filmmaking genre, and this time, he's kidnapped Keanu Reeves out of The Matrix long enough to star. Based on the work of the legendary Philiip K. Dick, A Scanner Darkly tells the story of a cop and robber. The difference here is that they are the same person. Reeves will be playing the part of Fred, a government agent trying to be a narc. In order to facilitate such undercover work in the future, feds use a "scramble suit" to transform their physical features in order to prevent recognition. Bob is trying to bust Bob Arctor, a notorious local dealer of the dread Substance D. What Fred doesn't realize is that he is the very man the police want to bust. In order to be credible as a narc, Fred has had to ingest so much of the addictive Substance D that his personality has split. Fred/Bob has become the equivalent of a dog chasing its own tail. Reeves is no stranger to the existential and quasi-futuristic. The combination of him acting in a Linklater production based on a Dick concept is a tantalizing proposition. This is one of the most stylish, cerebral productions on the 2005 schedule. (David Mumpower/BOP)

I was thinking the same thing about Robert's butt! And WOW, I didn't realize how old he's gotten. (not Jack Nicholson old, but still older than I remember him - I always have a picture of Larry from Ally McBeal when I think Robert Downey Jr.)
