It's interesting that Melrose didn't hit it huge for the CW last night, a 1.3 in the demo and 2.270 million average viewers, barely average. On the one hand its not a particularly good omen that even one of their biggest buzzed about new shows didn't break 3mill but it does possibly lower the bar for what they might consider success/failure, since whilst TBL is premiering behind Top Model it still hasn't been promoted anything like as much as MP.

I'm still hoping it has a quick enough draw for the ANTM audience. Plus, it's one of the last CW shows to premiere, so they can promote during the premieres of Vampire Diaries, One Tree Hill, Supernatural, and Gossip Girl to get some more of the audience. Plus, Mischa, Corbin, and Sara have followings.

I do think ANTM will help. But then "Sylista" failed there last year and that was another Tyra show. And yeah hopefully they'll promo it a lot this week.

The biggest problem for Melrose is that not only was it not really a hit in it's own right, it couldn't even outdraw an average rated 90210 for its series premiere. Whereas TOP Model is the CW's biggest show and if it can hang on to at least half of that it should be doing alright if not great.

I really didn´t like the first ep of MP that much so I hope TBL will be much better

Wow! I did not expect those numbers for MP.

I cant decide if thats a good thing for TBL or not. Real shame for MP though, I loved the pilot.

I'm not sure what, if any impact this has on TBL. Apart from the fact that it will not be expected to get 3 million+ in order to keep up with the other new shows, although I suspect VD will get at least that, it will now be the exception, not the rule before TBL premieres. That helps TBL in terms of what the CW considers the threshold for decent numbers this season. OTOH it shows that even with a massive campaign for Melrose it did badly, and didn't even keep or build on 90210. TBL hasn't had anything like that amount, so even though it is on after Top Model we shouldn't expect miracles from that alone..... I don't know, if anyone could accurately predict things like this then we wouldn't have 23 new shows every year but just the handful that make it.

Im just concerned cause if people aren't watching the network, then people aren't being exposed to TBL.

I'll be curious to see ANTM's numbers tomorrow. That show has always managed to stand above the pack for The CW. And we need it to remain strong for TBL next week.
