I was trying
to come up
with a metaphor
for how I'm
addicted to books
and can't seem
to maintain much
of a discipline
around them, even
when I know
better and should
do better. Hence
the crack comparison.

I agree, books
aren't harmful. At
the same time,
it's not ideal
that I'm allowing
myself to miss
sleep on account
of not being
able to put
my book down.

So there is
room for improvement
there, I think.

Hi back Karen.

Sunny, it was
perfect, and hysterical
to read it.

Yeah, that may
take time and
discipline, but I
think you can
really do it.
Improve that is.

Spending the day
relaxing and getting
cleaned up and
my nails done
for the Dr.'s
appt. that's tomorrow.

Hey there, Kar.

Kimmie, I hope
your appointment went
well. Did it?

And I'm definitely
working on discipline
with the books.

It's probably gonna
get easier because
I'm running out
of books by
that author I
love so much.

Which doesn't mean
I don't enjoy
the other books.
But they are
easier to put
down when I
need to do
that, you see.

Appointment went absolutely
all good news!
I also now,
since I can't
walk more than
about two hundred
feet, now have
a handicap parking
space sign. Because
I'm in pain.

I definitely see
how it would
be easier to
put the book
down if it
wasn't your fave
author providing it.

I can never
put down Stephen
King's The Stand.

Hope you got
to bed early
Karen, and rested.

see grandma, she's
back up there
again, pneumonia this
time. But today
she was somewhat
better than yesterday

Pneumonia seems to
be the theme
at this point,
since that's what
has kept my
dad in hospital
for a week
and a half.

I had him
on the phone
last night and
it seems to
be hard on
him, not being
in charge. Which
isn't funny in
and of itself.
But it's interesting.

So glad to
hear your appointment
went well, Kimmie.

I'm watching a
French documentary on
WWI and the
experience of the
French, both at
the front and,
like, an hour
away from it,
where they were
"living their normal
lives" at the
exact same time.

Karen give hugs
to Grandma from
me, and I
hope she gets
better very soon.

Sunny Thank you.

Oh wow, I
have never seen
anything like that.
Wish I had.

Yeah, I think
World War One
doesn't get as
much attention as
World War Two.

And the first
one was probably
even more traumatizing
for the French
since all of
the Western front
was in France.

So even those
who weren't soldiers
were directly affected.
They had to
evacuate, they starved,
entire families were
lost in the
fighting and the
death toll was
just really dramatic.

Plus, the home
front was also
dramatic since a
lot of women
died in the
weapons manufacturing industry.

The documentary was
really interesting and
I learned lots.

I've really thought
of looking into
and reading about
World War One.

Because I know
absolutely nothing really
about it, seriously.

I have a
DVD set, about
WWII and Vietnam,
but not WWI.

Thanks for that
info on it.

Glad you enjoyed
it Sunny, and
you learned alot.

Sorry about that,
Karen. It's hard.

Ran errands this
AM, and I
actually have no
appointments this week.

But now you
get the vacation,
right, Kar? So
it's worth it.

Kar, I think
World War One
may have had
less of an
impact on
the U.S. psyche
than the second
one, you know?

It's certainly harder
to label, because
the stakes were
a little more
hazy. The Germans
were still the
enemy, but they
weren't quite the
Nazis just yet.

I know that,
for Canada, it's
an important war
because that's the
one when we
stopped being "just"
a colony and
became an independent
country in our
own right. Beyond
that, there are
other interesting aspects
to it, like
the role of
women, the development
of war technologies,
and so forth.

But it's not
as clearly "a
fight against evil"
like WWII is
supposed to have
been, you see.

Oh wow, that's
a lot of
great insight Sunny.

Thanks for letting
me know the
differences, and how
cool it is
that you became
an independent country.

Well, not that
war created it,
but you know
what I mean.
I hope anyway.

Got some new
pens at the
office store in
town, so I've
been writing today.

All day, except
when we were
out this morning.
