Something that has nothing to do with French. For instance, I remember, when I was a kid, we went to see The Nutcracker at least a couple of times. That was always special to me. It still is. The last time I saw it was a couple of years ago and I bawled my eyes out. You know I love traditions and there's definitely something in that with this show. It's nostalgia and tradition... To me, that's the best part of the holiday season. __________________

You did a great description of it Sunny.
I was very curious about the kind of show. We only used to see small shows in Busch Gardens. They had ones that were year in and year out, so we'd see them several time. But no Christmas ones. I've only seen the Nutcracker once, on Breakfast In The Arts, on A&E about 20 years ago. I have seen parts of it, I just don't know where. I cried watching the Macy's Day Parade on Thanksgiving. That just feels so Christmas to me, and it made me happy. Nothing like a symphony though. Thank you for the new thread! I love the title. Good job! __________________

If I remember correctly, the thread title is off a Fleetwood Mac song.
I was watching a bunch of CNN documentaries on the '70s while posting Saturday. I'm not entirely sure why I have an attachment to certain traditions relating to Christmas. Lord knows it's not my favourite holiday and I don't usually enjoy it very much. But I do love the music and I love stories and dance. So, yeah, folk tales told by a guy with classical music as a soundtrack is right up my alley. As is the Nutcracker. I'm pretty sure I've never seen the super professional versions of it. But what I remember is that, when I was a little girl, the principal male and female dancers of the National Ballet of Canada were married. So watching the "soldier" and Clara dance together was especially sweet when you knew they were in love in real life. __________________

I enjoy those things about Christmas, and the pretty lights, and the specials for children.
Christmas has been fairly good as far as my moods lately, but this year, it may be a struggle. If Thanksgiving is any hint. I haven't seen any of those, CNN documentaries, but I remember a lot about the 70's. Oh I bet that brought a lot of added enjoyment for you! __________________

Or maybe Thanksgiving and Christmas are two separate things and your mood during one will have nothing to do with your mood during the other.
Obviously, you and I aren't the same. But I do know that I can put myself in a bad mood or in a place of anxiety just by anticipating that it will happen. I mean, you and I both know that Christmas is not my best time of the year. And there's a part of that that's completely outside my control. But I'd rather do everything I can to avoid it, you know? Speaking of which, I should start listening to my Christmas albums. Every year, I wait till it's too late to get away with it for very long. __________________

Oh so definitely put on your Christmas music!
We have a station on TV that plays Christmas music. Yeah, I do know. Stay in your happy place as much as possible. __________________

I don't listen to the radio.
I don't avoid it or anything. There's just never a situation in my day where listening to the radio is an option... Not that I miss it either. So, yeah, I should put in the Christmas albums before I forget and it's the week before Christmas. __________________

I only listen to the radio when I'm in the car, or sleeping.
One, you don't spend a lot of time doing, being in a car daily. And two, I'd think it would disturb your sleep way too much. That's also the only times I hear Christmas music. Need to move my CD player back in here, cause we have several Christmas CD's. I hope you get more time and listen to your albums. __________________

It's also that, in order to sleep, I wear earplugs.
So not wearing earplugs (to hear the radio) wouldn't work for me, because no sleep. And putting the radio loud enough that I would hear it through the earplugs would probably not endear me to the neighbours. It's not really the time that's missing to listen to the Christmas albums. I just need to go ahead and do it. __________________

Oh heck! That would definitely make for no sleep.
I don't know if I knew you wore earplugs. Though, I wonder if I did, cause I knew that you didn't like the sounds outside. Yeah, me too. I haven't listened yet. __________________

I put on my first Christmas album this morning.
It was one of the ones I bought this summer because it was dirt cheap. And I really liked it. __________________

Oh yay! I'm so glad to hear you did that.
And even more glad that you liked it. Tell me about it. Was it a group, singers, different ones. And traditional type Christmas songs? __________________

I'm not even sure what it is exactly.
It's a lot of orchestral versions of the classic, traditional songs. But there is some music. It's very old-timey. Like, it's not exactly old-time Disney versions, because again there's so much orchestral music. But that's what it reminds me of. __________________
