I was just saying on the other thread (before I realized we needed a new one) that I'm completely bored with my winter wardrobe. We don't go shopping in the fall anymore, so it's pretty much been the same for a while. And there are a couple of pieces I don't hate but, on the whole... meh. __________________

Oh, that is rough, when you get tired of a whole season's worth of clothes.
It makes a sense of dread for me, when the season is coming up. It's got to be hard not having your fall trip for winter clothes anymore. I gave away 80% of my winter wardrobe this season, but I have access to more. And I kept new ones, and ones I love. I totally feel for you on not having access to being able to shop for new clothes like that. __________________

Well, it's not so bad for me.
It just means that I dress for function rather than pleasure. It's not the best, of course. But it's not the end of the world. After all, I don't need to look for reasons to be depressed. So I try to just go with what is going on. __________________

Ah, I dress for what makes me happy.
I don't think I've dressed for function for a long time. __________________

Well, you also live in a milder climate than I do.
In the winter, for instance, there's only so much room I can give to "joy" in determining what I'm gonna wear. Even if I liked my wardrobe more, I'd still have to give function a lot of importance. __________________

Oh that is so true.
I don't tend to think of that, for you, unless it's winter there. And then I can see how extreme it is there. That makes absolute sense, why function has to come first then. __________________

The funny thing is that it gets far more extreme than the kinds of winter we get here.
But, yeah, below zero temperatures are common here in winter. So the trick is to find clothes that are weather-appropriate first and, then, if possible, bring me joy. I do the best I can. __________________

I think you do just fine.
You know what works for you. And it sounds like you have both practical, and style, choices. So you are probably doing pretty good at both. __________________

The problem is that I usually fall between two sizes when it comes to winter clothing.
So things either look tight or loose on me during that season. I still do the best I can, but it involves not focusing too much on the end result. __________________

Oh, that is always a pain.
And can lead to self-consciousness more than feeling comfortable. At least for me. I get that-not focusing too much on the end result-it makes sense to me. __________________

How do you shop for clothes that bring you joy?
I mean, how do you know? How does it work? __________________

I just buy what I fall in love with on sight, if I can find the sizes I need.
Which medium sells out really fast, so I have to buy as soon as I see it. I also buy my shirts in XL generally. It's just what brings me fun feelings as soon as I see it, or if I picture it on me right away. __________________

That's wonderful.
Now, I wish I could do that. What an amazing way to relate to clothes, though. I'm really happy that you can do that. __________________
