| Bee, yes it was wonderful. The unfortunate part is with all the airline cuts and issues it takes 9 hours to fly to the Caribbean, and the saddest part of that is that I only live in Canada, and I know the Caribbean is only 5 hours away by air! Anyway... I have tonnes of pics, so I'll try to post a few of them for you to see in a few days. Basically I spent a lot of time at the beach, reading, swimming, eating, indulging in adult beverages, playing games, and burning! I went on 2 excursions, one to Santo Domingo the capital city of the Dominican Republic, and toured Diego Columbus' house (Christopher Columbus' son) went to the military church with the eternal flame and the gaurds that change every 2 hours. Toured one of the cathedrals, which was interesting in that the pillars inside were designed to look like palm trees, and they really did! We went to the Christopher Columbus lighthouse, which was very interesting as it is shaped like a cross and then on Friday, Sat and Sun they light up the lighthouse at night and it projects a cross onto the sky. We also went to the national aquarium and looked at all the fish. That was nice because they are right on the Caribbean sea, so I spent some time looking and taking pics of the beautiful blue water! The other excursion was very fun! I went swimming with Sharks and Sting Rays! We took a boat our from the Marinarium to an area in the water that they had netted off for us, we snorkled to the 'compound' and then snorkled around the area where they had cordoned off the sharks and sting rays (Nurse sharks, so they didn't care that there were people there at all. Swam over a little fence and they took a picture of me holding a 'de-stingered' Sting Ray, then back to the snorkling and observing the animals! We went back to the boat and they toured us around the bay then dropped us off in the middle of the bay on this huge area of shallow water that was only waist deep, plied us with alcohol and let us swm for a while. Then we headed back to the dock and played games, danced, sang en-route. Very fun! When we first got onto the boat they did a 'survey' to see where everyone was from, One couple from the Netherlands, two from Germany, and one from USA, the rest of us were Canadians (by accident, they sorted us by language groups) So naturally the crew teased us about needing lots of cervesza (sp). When they were 'offering' drinks during the swim time, the bartender came to me and said "Canadian?" (now I was wearing a Gilligan hat with a Canadian flag on the front) I nodded and he said "beer?" so I took one even though I'm not a beer drinker and swallowed the entire glass in a 2 gulps, the bartenders eyes got really wide and he said "oh, yes, REAL canadian Girl!" I stuck to coke after that! It was a great excursion and a great trip. I don't want to bore you all though, so I'm off to wash another load of my clothes that smell like the Caribbean, and to put some cream on my arms which are peeling like crazy today! __________________ 2008-2009 AJHL Champions! The exam runs form 7 to 10 pm, so I doubt I'll have time to get online after it. | Moderator Support Team  | Norla you werent one of the unlucky people to be stuck somewhere when that company closed down were you? ...I'm planing a trip to Vancouver in the summer and it should only take 2 hrs from Manitoba, but they want to stop at Calagry for a 3 hour layover...WHY?!  I'm going to spend the few extra dollars and go straight there, there just isn't any reason to have a change over in Calagary, it makes no sense. Sunny good luck on the exam. Well although I do have some trips in the new year, which is hilarious that I know that already. I'm doing well. Same job. Blech. Need to move to days. I swear.  How's everyone? | |||

| Nope I was ok, I went with Air Canada Vacations instead of conquest. Funny but not really, on Monday morning I got a frantic call from my travel agent as he woke up to hear that there was a plane of Canadians who were hijacked, but he only caught the end of the report so he didn't hear that they were in Jamaica not Domnican, so he in a panic called to find out if I was home! Poor guy. I do really feel sorry for those who had to endure that awful experince though. Ok, the bell rang and my kids are trying to get ready for lunch... what a noisy bunch!
