Well, I'm happy to see they thought she was good.

Considering how they seem to be saying that it's all crap, having her be the best wouldn't cheer me up much.

Agreed. I'll be curious to see how it fairs now that the writers strike is over, and new eppies of the normal shows will probably be airing soon.

Well, Matt Rousch over at TV Guide (or is it Mike Ausiello? It's not that they're similar in the least bit, but they're the two columns I read, so I tend to mistake them a bit when it's been a while since I've read it) was saying that Lipstick Jungle viewers should hang in there a sec.

I don't know if that means it gets better or that, since only one episode has aired, we should at least give it a chance to grow... So I don't know. Not to mention that he (whomever it was) was saying so in comparison with Cashmere Mafia... So who knows?

I think he means both ... I'm SURE most shows get better after the pilot, they gain footing, have characters to build upon, etc.

I don't know... Bleh. I'm still watching, but the holes are starting to show. Which kinda sucks because the performances are really tremendous. But I keep wondering how any of these women are friends. And how any of their relationships actually work.

Mind you, there's a new character, an assistant, that I just flove. He's hilarious.

I kinda enjoy the twop reviews of it ("Television Without Pity"). They're really sardonic and kinda cruel at times, but oh-my-god do they hit the nail on the head.

For instance, Kim's character? For a woman who doesn't want to get caught having an affair, it's like she's pathologically incapable of being subtle about it. And I have yet to understand how any of these women are friends. And there's this man Joe who we're supposed to think is completely anti-social, and he may well be, but he's possibly the only one of them who makes any kind of sense or who seems to have a fully functioning brain.

And this is supposed to be a show about women in powerful roles, you know?

So I did watch Thursday. And I think, maybe, Kim's character lost a baby or had an abortion or something at some point. Because she and Brooke Shields were having an argument over the affair Kim's character is doing such a lousy job at hiding and Brooke said something to the effect that it was a good thing Kim wasn't a mother because these are the values the kid(s) would be growing up with.

And the insult just kinda thudded in the way that it hit Kim. Now, for all I know, that's just a really bitchy thing to say to anyone. And it's not like I really disagree with the sentiment either. Affairs are just not the done thing when you have children. Not that they're the done thing either way, but I do think it's even worse when there are kids involved. Just my two cents.

It's just the way that this comment landed. Or maybe Kim really, really wanted children but couldn't have them for a reason? I don't know.

Also, Andrew McCarthy, who plays Joe, is kinda awesome. Which is not something I'd ever thought I'd say. There was a breakup scene where his character, my beloved Joe, was explaining his rationale for doing rather underhanded to his girlfriend. And she broke up with him over it. But the way he was explaining it.... I'm not saying it made it okay, but it kinda broke my heart. Because you could really tell he had meant to do something wonderful for her, but was just too inept at being a human being to fully understand how the way he went about doing it was just SO profoundly wrong... Kinda neat.

Kim Raver and Bobby Cannavale. In a scene. Together.

I would've come on here and OMG'd on Thursday, but I figured no one was on here and no one was watching. Plus, it was just the one scene so, by the time anyone might have tuned in, it would have been over.

But holy freaking cow!!!!

I had, like, a minor heart attack (ironic, considering Kim's husband on the show had one during the episode) seeing them together.

But, alas, they were just at the same party, not in the same storyline.

Still...

really? So did they talk or share the same uh moment together? Or just happened to be at the same event but never talked?

They actually talked. His character was a hockey player (I think, an athlete of some sort at any rate) who was shooting a cover for her magazine (with his wife). So she's the one who introduced him to Victory (with whom the actual storyline was).

The really annoying thing is that I was so busy having a heart attack over the fact that they were in the same scene, actually talking to each other, that I couldn't even tell you if they had an actual moment or not.

I don't think so, mind you. Because his interest was totally on the Victory character. But, still. They were in a scene. Together. TALKING!!!!!!!!!!
