Rae. Definitely sucks it keeps hurting you
Steroids are also prescribed with Crohn's disease, and I know people who've been on them for years (at low doses) because nothing else works, but it's definitely not some anyone would want. Especially since you get all blown up etc.
But glad at least it does something

And thanks guys Still getting used to the glasses, I regularly forget to put them on, etc.

I'm just glad I've only gained about 5 pounds after a month. My appetite didn't increase too much, which is good. But yeah...when you're on steroids all the time it can just wreck your body, plus I don't want the moon face. But at the same time, i can understand why some people would prefer to be on them rather than off them. Pain just sucks.

Thanks, Jen, I'll try not to lose them It'd also be pretty expensive to get new ones These one cost €139 (couldn't find anything I liked in the cheaper catagory well played, optician...), and my health insurance covered €75 of those costs, but now I'll have to wait 2 years until they cover anything again

Pain definitely sucks Hope the doctors will find a better treatment for you in time

I need a new prescription in my glasses but I'm too lazy to get it. I'm short on cash (thanks medical bills) and I don't wear my glasses all that much so it's a low priority for me.

I always keep my glasses in the same 2 places, so I never lose them.

yeah i always keep mine in the same places too. my mother on the other hand has to have two different pairs and (one for the computer and one for driving) and she is constantly losing hers) and they are very expensive to replace which she just recently found out the hard way. glad you girls take care of your glasses and dont lose yours.

I can imagine that makes it low priority, Rae
Medical bills suck! I'm glad most of my medical bills are covered by my insurance. But then again, I pay €113/month for health insurance, + €350/year deductible. (basic health care insurance + that deductible are required for everyone by law). I'm glad I do though, because my health care's muuuuch more expensive than that (I mean... just visit a specialist once, or spend one night at the hospital, etc. )

Yeah, my mom also always loses her glasses. Or she breaks them or whatever. Now she has a pair I really like on her, so I hope she doesn't lose these ones as well

For a person in the states, I have a pretty good setup for my medical plan. I have what's called a High Deductible Health Plan, meaning my deductible is $2000/year. After that I pay 10% of the cost up to a total maximum of $3750. So basically if I were to go into a coma I'd only have to pay a total of $3750/yr. And with the HDHP I have a Health Savings Account. My employer puts $1000/yr into the HSA, so that's $1000 less per year I have to pay out of pocket. And the insurance only costs me $40/month out of my paycheck. So compared to most people I have a great health insurance plan. The problem is when a new year starts (fiscal year, which for some reason is July 1st rather than January 1st) I'm suddenly slapped with $1000 medical bills for procedures and I don't always have that readily available. But either way, I count myself lucky because there are people who end up having hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of medical bills and that will never happen to me.

It appears we also had no inspiration for the current thread Think it would be best to just make it up on the go Unless someone can think of something awesome off the top of their head?

I can imagine that's definitely a good plan in the US This year I got the option to pay my deductible in 10 installments, so I took that opportunity
My 'basic' insurance (the one everyone's supposed to have, covering hospital/family doctor/specialists and most drugs, and loads of stuff I haven't ever used ) costs €98/month (~€1200/year), plus my additional package (covering dental care + part of my optical care + birth control) of €15/month (€180/year). Plus the €350 deductible each year (a higher deductible is also possible, in exchange for a lower basic contribution). So I pay around €1700 per year to cover my medical care. Not toooo bad, I think
(if I calculate what I cost my insurance company My meds only cost >€15,000/year )

we seem to lack creativity when it comes to thread titles around here

i am currently w/o insurance. you need to work a certain amount of hours per week in order to keep the insurance i had. and i was 2 freakin hours short of what i needed for the minimum so they dropped me. so now im currently looking around for a different plan

Thanks for the info. That feels like forever. As you can tell, I'm impatient.
