Well, how we elect presidents is different than how we elect members of congress or state governors for example. We use an ''electoral system'' where each state has a certain number electoral votes, which is based on state populations. This is supposedly so states with less people living in them have more of a say in who becomes president, so we vote for someone who votes for who they want I think, even though like let's last presidential election it was Trump, Clinton & a few others on the National ballot. Unfortunately changing this system to where there is no electoral college & just the popular vote is near impossible. There's still though liberal & or Democratic cities & states though & they have governors & Attorney Generals that do sue Trump & fight for things such as having sanctuary cities & migrant children. Here on the West Coast the states have filed many lawsuits already & it's just a part of having Trump as our president.
