What's the strangest movie you ever saw, and why? (DISCUSSION)

I admit that few movies befuddle me, but I'm older and have had a bit of life experience, not to mention cultural and intellectual exposure (meaning I've read the more esoteric texts). The only value all that really has, however, is allowing me to rarely be confused by a film...but it does happen. *is mostly joking in the above statement*

Anyway, I was reading something about Donnie Darko and how strange certain elements were (I didn't think so, but whatever), and it got me thinking - what are the strangest movies I've ever seen?

Again, referring to all the caveats and qualifiers above, I don't think a movie has to be confusing to be strange. One of the strangest films I've ever seen - Breaking the Waves - wasn't confusing at all, but I dare anyone who's seen it not to say it's a bit odd, even if in the best possible way.

Eraserhead - yep, strange...and disturbing.

...and now that I'm writing this out I've spent so much time with disclaimers I've completely forgotten what some of the films I came up with were!

What are some of yours?

Big Fish. I got that it's a movie about the dad telling his son stories about his 'life'. And Ewan McGregor in the movie was the dad back then. But still. The circus. The huge, somewhat deformed guy. The leaning house. The trees that grab onto people. I was just like 'WTF' during the whole movie.

The House of Yes, hands down. A brother and sister having sex? Ewww. Plus, Parker Posey's character really disturbed me.

I can see where you're all coming from.

Another odd ball movie I once saw was Rosalie Went Shopping, because I loved Bagdad Cafe so much. Any of you see it? TOTALLY bizarre.

American Psycho. It's strange to me because I really don't understand what happened. At all. I've asked three other people I know who saw it if they could explain it to me, but they don't get it either.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas- Man was that movie very crazy and strange and yet I still liked it because Johnny was in it.

Since I didn't read the book it was a bit harder to understand, so I know what you mean. Then someone told me it was allegorical and it all clicked into place.

Jenny - I just sort of go with the flow with Fear and Loathing... because I figure drug trips don't have to be rational.

Right, after seeing it for the second time it wasnt as bad but for the first time especially seeing Johnny in that type of role, I was like "Whoa! this is crazyness" with them going into a casino bar and everyone was like dinosaurs but the way Johnny's character kept freaking out and doing a crucifix with his fingers at them, I almost fall over with laughter.

Y Tu Mama Tambien - just b/c of the ending... It was, um, interesting. Good movie though! Very unexpected end result... I'll just leave it at that!

Wait, it's confusing? I was planning on renting or buying it [since the DVD's probably cheap enough to be similar to the Blockbuster rental price anyway]. Aww man.

Have you ever seen Northfork?
It's truly bizarre. I only understood a few things after I read about it.
