Westerns and like, those kung-fu/karate films. Those are just not me.

I agree, I don't like these types of movies either.

The Hostel movies. And Silent Hill ones - those kinds. And Paranormal Activity.

Possession movies. The last one I watched was Emily Rose way back when it was in theaters.

The very lovely dovey movies, I kind of find them sappy. And many adult comedies, they aren't really funny. They just seem to cram in as much crass, violence, nudity, and language into two hours. I miss the days when there were real characters and a story instead of just seeing how lewd they can be.

Adult "comedies" are kind of the worst, precisely because of the reasons you described. Now, I won't lie; I laughed quite a bit during the first Hangover movie, but that's the exception.

Oh I loved the Hangover, though I have no real desire to see the other two. I don't mind most of that stuff if there is a purpose for it. But it just seems like now a days they do it just because it's there.

I mean there are days when I just want a mindless movie to pass the time like a rainy afternoon. But for the most part I want an actual story with actual characters instead of just a bunch of smoke and mirrors.

Same here. The first one was enough.

Yeah, and they're not even funny. They're mostly gross and ridiculous. Whatever happened to movies having an actual storyline?

Those seem to be rare occurrences now in Hollywood.

That's all part of their plan.

Some movies are able to get away with being pointless. Others can't.

Pointless sequels like the Hangover 2 & 3 or the Avatar sequels they are making.

Horror movies with gratuitous gore. I love horror movies but I can't stand movies like Hostel or Saw. Basically I don't like movies that are porn torture.

Any comedy where the story revolves around some man child and his stupid friends.

Hollywood does seem to be making a bunch of pointless sequels don't they? Or remaking movies that came out fifteen to twenty years earlier.

That's a fact, yes. And since they want money, money, money, it's an easy thing to do because as we all know big names sell and people rather watch part 2, 3 of a blockbuster than something innovative . The 15-20 year remakes are obvious. Take e.g. Spiderman (2002) vs. The Amazing Spiderman (2012). Everybody who was too young to watch the "original" movie back then can now enjoy the updated version. It's very easy, just repeat the same stuff every decade or 15 years and make easy money.

I don't care for most of the movies to be honest. I like "special" movies that are cleverly written and have an interesting plot and some message or several layers of messages. So I try to watch less movies but some with quality. Too many movies I saw in cinema (it's always a problem because my friends have different taste and can enjoy these mainstream movies, which I mostly don't) were okayish to boring/bad, and you pay even more than if you would by the dvd (yes, d-v-d, that's what I watch on my like 10 year old television) and also I have to enjoy the German dubs instead of the original voices, despite the good dubbing quality the original is better of course. Too much money for little to no fun.

Those over-the-top action movies that are all about the guns and the swearing with no plotline. I loved the Lethal Weapon series back in the day though, but I liked the friendship between the two cops. Can't stand horror movies either, or movies with over-the-top sex scenes that border on porn. I appreciate sex scenes in movies when there's a point to them, or that it's been building between the characters, but just not for the sake of throwing them in there.
