thg: catching fire. i found it more enjoyable than the first film. i was more invested this time into the story and characters. i've never read the books and i prefer it that way when watching these films. as a non-reader, i thought it was a good film.

Catching Fire (2013) - It was amazing. I wish all book adaptations were made like this. They made some small changes but still it's one the most faithful book adaptations I have seen in a long time.

Jennifer Lawrence did a phenomenal job in Catching Fire. Much better than the first film.

Last night, I watched 'The Nutty Professor' and 'Jumanji'. Both films I've seen many times before and still enjoy to this day

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire- My second time seeing this. Truth be told, I'm just not that impressed. I don't get the hype for this film. Don't get me wrong, I think Jennifer Lawrence is a terrific actress and I do believe her acting has improved from the first film. However, I enjoyed the first film more. I don't know why but I just felt more emotion, more of a connection with the first one. I know I'm in the minority and that's fine. I just like the first film a lot better. With that said, here are the only two bright spots from the second film imo....
Jennifer Lawrence keeps getting better. She is such a phenomenally talented young actress and she plays Katniss to perfection. Jena Malone. She steals every single scene she's in. And that's not easy to do when you're sharing the screen with Jennifer Lawrence. She is such an underrated actress. Seriously. So good. |

Fun Size (2012) - A silly teen movie but some scenes made me laugh.

Catching Fire (2013)
Better than I had expected. I was eternally unsatisfied with Gary Ross and his nauseatingly bad use of handheld camera in THG (that man took shaky cam to a whole new level), so I was just extremely pleased that I didn't feel like vomiting all over the place every time I looked at the screen. The book was transformed decently, though admittedly, I think there were key events which were shortened down too much (perhaps they should have parted it in two for optimal storytelling). I'm still super annoyed with all the whitewashing in this film (and in Hollywood in general, but they've really whitewashed a lot of characters in this film series - Jennifer Lawrence doesn't look particularly olive skinned to me; and as I read the books, I was under the impression that Johanna Mason was black? Is that just me being wrong?). Overall it was a decent film, much better than the first. __________________

Last weekend I enjoyed watching "THOR 2", it was a real treat to watch. Especially liked the way Loki delivers the dialogues. Awesome!
