We Are Marshall (2006) #1: From the ashes, we rose...we are, MARSHALL!

Hey guys! Welcome to the We Are Marshall Appreciation Thread!

From the ashes we rose. A True Story.

When a plane crash claims the lives of members of the Marshall University football team and some of its fans, the team's new coach (McConaughey) and his surviving players try to keep the football program alive.

I didn't see a thread for this (checked the guide), however if I somehow missed it, and there was one, I'm sorry, and feel free to close this one. I thought it was one of the most amazing movies I'd ever seen...especially one that was a true story...so I just had to start a thread for it.

I saw this yesterday...and there was just no words. I'm seeing it again today. I expected to really enjoy it...I expected to adore Foxy, since he is utter talent...but the fact that within 10 minutes of the movie, I was in tears, and remained for the duration, and thought Matthew M. (since I can never spell his last name), and all the rest cast held their own too...as well as the facts of the true story...I didn't expect as much.

Did anyone else enjoy it?

I LOVED this film. I cried so many times during this movie, but the end with Foxy really killed me.

I liked that we got to see how everyone got the news of the crash and their various reactions. I'm probably going to see this again soon, but I'll probably wait a few days to gear up for some more crying.

I saw it again today...bawled even more, if that was even possible.

Everything about this movie was just so heartbreakingly beautiful!

I loved this movie SO much!! I went to see it tonight and the theater was completly packed there was barely anywhere to sit but living in Ohio I wouldn't of expected any less... We Are Marshall is one of my favorite movies.... everyone was AMAZING in this movie.. especially Foxy, his scene in the locker room at the end all of his emotional scenes were so heartbreaking he was good in every single part of this movie... and the other Matthew was also terrific! I am going to see this movie again really soon...

I liked that it was more character driven than football driven and that they tried to stay as true as possible to the real events. It makes me even more sad to think that this really happened to those people. Another thiong I loved at the end was the part where they showed the success of the future Marshall football teams and how they eventually became the team where winning was the most important thing.

Fox just owns emotional scenes, period, he's so damn talented!

I was really impressed by Matthew M. too...I didn't expect to be either.

Foxy really does do an amazing job in emotional scenes... my mom and I always say that he is the best cryer...and he is not just awsome in the emotional scenes he can do funny, he can do mad, he is good at everything.. he is really one of the best actors...

Foxy is tied with Leo as being the best on-screen crier, in my opinion. Just amazing!

I LOVED this movie. It was so sad yet so inspiring. All the actors did great. I love Matthew McConaughey but it's Foxy that never fails to floor me. And I totally agree that Mr. Fox has the most amazing talent for emotional acting. I'm with you all on his scene at the end... It was just heart-breaking. So beautiful. Such a great movie.

I think this was such a great script for Foxy to take for his first big-screen role.
