I love the irony in how they swap roles in that scene. Rose becomes the instigator (the daring one) and Jack becomes the shy yet keen observer.

I actually do think that's part of the beauty of the scene. To see her fully naked, while he remains clothed and just looks at her in awe as we, the audience, look at her in awe as well. She had been so buttoned up for the whole film up to that point. That image of her dropping the robe and standing bare ass naked in front of him created such a great sort of "gasp" moment.

Yeah, it's symbolic of her rebellion as well. There's really so much being symbolized in just that one shot of her stripping. Kate did such a great acting job in the scene as well.

i agree, it was a symbolically powerful and great scene, and quite empowering for a woman in that era, when women had virtually no power in society, or at least power that was accepted/recognized.

i love the shot of Rose as a pilot of her own plane, in Old Rose's personal portraits in the salvage ship stateroom, it so reminded me of the daring-do of the real life 1930's female aviator, Amelia Earhart, and her enduring legacy and mystery.

I agree. Can you imagine living in a time where you were expected to shut up and not have an opinion, when someone like Rose couldn't handle being snuffed out like that. Women were expected to play dumb and do as their husbands told them.
