It's the Next Generation...I don't consider it canon. In fact, I don't consider it a TCM movie...my wife was so mad at me when we started watching it a few months ago. I enjoy it.

I heard some years back that Renee Zellweger was outraged to learn it had been released on DVD, she hated the film and never wanted it released.

I never heard that but believe it. She did a terrible job in that. Those glasses, lol

She wasn't terrible, but all actors/actresses have a role they don't like, they had to start somewhere. She felt the role would tarnish her career as she was then an Oscar nominated actress, this was around the time Cold Mountain was released.

She sucked in TCM: TNG.....not in a bad actress way, but the character was written terribly. I almost felt that movie was a spoof, but it wasn't. It's a strange one....and could have done without the ending.
