Oh, cool - others who liked Breaking Away and Lagaan!

mukooh - how could I have forgotten that film? It was about these kids who totally redefined the skate-bording genre (setting the tone for all the stuff done today, including snow boarding), and was excellent.

Also, Into the ... crap! I can't remember the name of the movie - that recent surfing documentary/story. It wasn't bad, either, but no where near as good as the above.

Those are some great movies you guys picked. Although I noticed noone put down Happy Gilmore. That's the only golf movie that was funny as hell.

'step into liquid'......it was directed by dana brown.....(the son of bruce brown who directed the grandfather of all surf films....'the endless summer'....like father like son)....i saw it.....i keep on being taken to these surf movies by these guys i know........your right it was just ok......

another film that i've seen with the guys......
'billabong odyssey'......a documentary on big wave riding.....waves that have never been surfed before....60, 70, 80 feet high....a very high tech sport....jet ski rescue and tow in to the waves....helicopter observation......sometimes traveling many miles offshore to get to the location of the waves....(i think i would prefered it if they had paddled out to the waves........it seems to take away from the sport with all these gadgets attached....but i'll give the followers of this sport points for what they do).....i thought the film was just ok.....somehow i got the feeling it was more or less an advertisment for billabong products....

coming soon....'riding giants'......another documentary on big wave riding.......i've seen the trailer more than once in a theater.....i'll probably be taken to this film as well......i'm hoping that's it better than 'billabong odyssey'........'riding giants' is directed by the same man who directed 'dogtown and z-boys'......

surf report here

Eddie.

The movie starred Whoopi Goldberg, Rick Foxx (LA Lakers), John Salley (sp?), and tons of other basketball players.

The story behind the movie was a sports fanatic (Goldberg) was given the position of being the owner of the NY Knicks and she lit a fire under the asses of EVERY player.

Wow I really like the cover of that 'billabong odyssey' movie. It sounds pretty cool too. I would have to check it out sometime.

At the top of my list would be Miracle, which is also my current favorite movie of this year ... so far. It just amazes me how a movie can draw you into the story even when you know how it turns out.

Other favorites would be Remember the Titans, A League of Their Own, Hoosiers and Field of Dreams.

Classic is right! That is definitely one of my fave sports movies. The casting is perfect...the story is good. I love the dad, "REFUND?!"

Other sports movies I like are the Cutting Edge (sappy but amusing), the Program is pretty good, does Karate Kid count?

I have to say that I am probably one of the few folks who had zero interest in Field of Dreams.
