I've wanted to see this movie for so long! It's not even available to download.

Oh - you mean Long Duc Dong says that, right? Hee!

Love.this.film. In fact, even my grandmother loved it - we saw it in the theater when it came out and she still remembers it with a smile to this day.

My favorite part - Molly/Sam getting felt up by her grandmother. How utterly humiliating!

Ohhhh Lord, I know! I can never watch that scene with a straight face, well, I can't watch the whole movie with a straight face!

And what about when Sam is answering the "sex questions" and she loses the paper after Jake obviously saw her answering it and then she goes, "I hope whoever found it didn't know it was me", something like that...

She never knew Jake read that thing, right? Kinda weird! I bet Jake went "whoa" when he saw Sam's answers. So sweet considering that got him thinking about her.

You know, I think Jake/Sam was a truer relationship than any of the others in his films. I don't know why, but I found it so much more convincing than Pretty in Pink or Some Kind of Wonderful, etc. I think it's because unlike the others there's a sweet innocence about it.

The others have somewhat of an edge about them, you know? Like, there's class orientation, rather than she's just not noticed (meaning, Sam's family isn't that poor or on the other side of the tracks - just bizarre!).

And how much do I seriously *HEART* Sam's dad?

Oh yeah - we saw it when it came out in the theater.

OT:
We saw/see/watch tons of films together - she's got great, adventurous taste in films, and we had a long-standing, 20+ year tradition of watching every single James Bond and Disney film that came out but that stopped about 7 or 8 years ago when my grandfather got sick.

Now we watch at least 3 movies/week on DVD, usually more. We're watching the 30s French version of Beauty and the Beast, The Big Sleep, The Machinist, and a documentary called, The Tibetan Book of the Dead. I love my gramma, even if we don't always share the same taste.

/OT

Anyway, this was one of the ones we just loved to pieces - my favorite John Hughes. Just genius.

Uch - can't stand that company. Mainly because 1) they STILL edit their films without notification and 2) they charge you if you keep your films for more than a month (despite the false advertisement of "no late fees.").

Have you tried NetFlix? Are you in the US? I know I sound like I'm a guru in the Cult of NetFlix, but really, they're just wonderful!

Oh, ok, I just remember Long Duck Dong not wanting to open the door to Jake and Jake going "You grapped my nuts." or something like that.
