I generally had no problem with the killers in the sequel, too and I liked that the reveal took place on the school stage where Sidney's ~safe place~ (as an aspiring actress) was.

But if you watch this review, the reviewer makes a decent point that the reveal of Mickey doesn't really have much impact in retrospect, because Sidney barely knew him.

Timothy Olyphant is great as Mickey but I think the reason why Billy and Stu left such a lasting impact on the audience was because they were both in Sidney's life for years - thus it was a deep betrayal. Billy was her boyfriend (who she had just had sex with) and Stu was her best friend's boyfriend.

The reason why Halloween was so effective was because Laurie was Michael's sister. It added an extra creep factor into the mix, a potentially incestuous vibe; plus it means that you're not safe in your own home because your own family has the potential to turn on you.

In that sense, Mickey is definitely a weak link. There's no real reason for him to pursue Sidney other than psychotic lust for the kill, which doesn't make for a very interesting story. The first will always be the best because of Billy and Stu killing their friends. It's shocking on a whole other level, plus an extra heartbreak for Sidney because she waited for years to sleep with Billy then discovers his deceit.

I liked Scream 4 but I don't see the point since it's almost been ten years since the fourth one. When the fourth one first came out they made it sound like it would be another trilogy and nothing happened all these years. If it happens, I'll check it out though, I just feel too much time has passed.

I respect their loyalty to the franchise but I just can't pluck up any interest in this continuing I remember not liking Scream 4 at all.

For me, it's like Toy Story -- it worked as a trilogy, was made as a trilogy and should have stayed that way.
